RACE 1 – THE TAB APP LADYSHIP PACE – 1730 metres
BONJORGE – Out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued.
SHE MAYBE BETTOR – Pre-race swab sampled. Trainer M Turnbull was queried regarding the seemingly improved performance of the mare, he stated that since the mare joined his stable, he had trialled it twice and was confident of a forward showing in tonight’s field given how it went in those and its work leading into tonight’s race. He added in its first trial he had given it a fairly easy run and in its second trial it had led and while it didn’t win had finished it off well in his view. He further added that he felt it had a draw tonight that it would be able to lead from and felt if it could lead would be hard to beat in this field which he did not feel was strong. Post-race swab sampled.
WARRAWEE FLYER – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
RACE 2 – BLINDS BY DESIGN PACE – 1730 metres
BOHEMIAN BRAWLER – While tiring locked wheels with THREE RIVERS NZ near the 400 metres.
HARRYS DEAL NZ – Raced roughly approaching the 1200 metres. Driver J Grimson was fined $100 under Rule 170(2) for driving at various stages from after leaving the 600 metres with part of his body protruding beyond the confines of the sulky.
TAKE OUT – Pre-race swab sampled.
THREE RIVERS NZ – Locked wheels with the tiring BOHEMIAN BRAWLER near the 400 metres and was inconvenienced.
SHELL SHOCK NZ – Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 3 – MOORHEAD CRANES PACE – 2260 metres
PLAY IT COOL NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait during the score-up at the first attempt to start the race, no action was taken given the speed of the mobile at the time as a result of DRIVE TO THE BEACH being slow to commence its score-up.
POPS LEGACY – Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1000 metres, for which a warning was issued.
DUN SPRUIKIN – Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Driver G Lee was queried regarding the performance, he stated that the intended tactics were to attempt to get cover tonight, given it hadn’t performed well last start when leading, which he was able to do. He added that it travelled well until nearing the 600 metres where it dropped the bit and did not respond to his urgings. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on it for its performance.
MY ULTIMATE SKEETA – Declared a late scratching at 2.49pm by Order of Stewards due to late arrival on course. Trainer N Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 238, in that he failed to comply with a direction to have the gelding, which was subject to the HRNSW Elevated TCO2 policy conditions, on-course in the stabling area 4 hours prior to its scheduled race start time, as a result the horse was a late scratching. N Turnbull was fined the sum of $500. Pre-race swab sampled.
BUDDY BRILLIANCE – Hung-out rounding the first turn. Post-race swab sampled.
DRIVE TO THE BEACH – At the first attempt to start the race was well out of position and a false start was declared. Driver K Langelaar was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(h) for failing make sufficient effort to bring the gelding up into position. At the second attempt to start the race, the score-up was aborted due to the gelding’s bridle slipping down, and the start was further delayed to get a throat lash to attach to the bridle. Trainer M Turnbull was subsequently fined $100 under Rule 273(3)(c) for not having a throat lash fitted on the gelding.
RACE 4 – BATHURST TOYOTA PACE – 1730 metres
IDEAL TIMING – Driver B Medlyn was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectation performance of the gelding, he stated that he was a bit disappointed with its run tonight. He added that it travelled well but didn’t respond when he shifted it out wider leaving the 400 metres and placed it under pressure.
MISTERFOURTHOUSAND – Driver J Turnbull was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectation performance of the gelding, he stated that he was a bit disappointed with its run tonight but felt it may not have appreciated the rain effected track. He added that it travelled well until he placed it under pressure approaching the 200 metres and didn’t run on.
HAPPY REG – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 5 – HYNASH GROUP PACE – 1730 metres
BETTORS HOPE – Shifted out leaving the 400 metres where HUTA NZ breaks gait. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver H Ross pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that leaving the 400 metres, he shifted the gelding out when not clear of HUTA NZ which was taken wider and contacted the sulky wheel of BETTOR KEPPEL and was checked and broke gait. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account H Ross’ guilty plea, his driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver H Ross had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 10 days to commence at midnight the 4th of July. Post-race swab sampled.
BETTOR KEPPEL – Sulky wheel contacted by HUTA NZ leaving the 400 metres.
SHEFFIELD SPARKY NZ – Pre-race swab sampled.
HUTA NZ – Tightened for room leaving the 400 metres when BETTORS HOPE shifted-out, taken up the track and contacted the sulky wheel of BETTOR KEPPEL and was checked and broke gait. While galloping broke its near side hopple carrying strap.
RACE 6 – HRNSW GUARANTEED 2YO PACE – 1730 metres
MY ULTIMATE BANJO – Trainer J Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to have a gear form lodged for the colt.
GEETEEHO – Trainer S Hewitt was fined $50 under Rule 268A(1) for failing to have a gear form lodged for the gelding.
TALK TO LEXY – Pre-race swab sampled. Tired over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding which was having its first start, Driver J Hewitt stated that he was a bit disappointed with it and added that at its most recent trial he was able to get cover in it and it performed okay. He added that with the way it had been working he thought it would be able to race outside the leader and finish the race off. He further added that the gelding had a good blow following the race and he felt it would take benefit from it. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on it for its performance.
GOT MY EYE ON YOU – Post-race swab sampled.
ROCKNROLL BLING – Tired over the concluding stages for which a warning was issued.
HINCHINBROOK – Tired over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the filly, Trainer/Driver A Frisby stated that he was disappointed with it and was at a loss to explain it. Connections were advised a warning would be placed on it for its performance.
RACE 7 – COBBITY EQUINE WELCOME LEGENDARY HANOVER PACE – 2260 metres
MARYVILLE ALFIE – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Tired over the concluding stages. Driver M Atkinson was questioned regarding the performance, he stated that he was a bit disappointed with it although it was its first start over the longer distance and it got stuck racing outside the leader, which he felt didn’t suit. He added Trainer D Atkinson had indicated that he was likely to send it for a spell following tonight’s run. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although it was reported that the gelding did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
FARFALLA STRIDE – Pre-race swab sampled.
SMOOTH EURO – Driver M Turnbull was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 1800 metres he shifted the gelding in when not sufficiently clear of HARVEY HUGHES NZ which was inconvenienced.
HARVEY HUGHES NZ – Tightened for room when racing to the inside of SMOOTH EURO near the 1800 metres, when that runner shifted-in, and was inconvenienced. Hung-in approaching the 200 metres.
MOTHER WAS A MUDDA – Locked wheels with MARYVILLE ALFIE approaching the 200 metres when placed in restricted room while racing to the inside of HARVEY HUGHES NZ, which hung-in, and was inconvenienced.
A TRUE LOVE – Post-race swab sampled.
LIMBO LENNY – Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities, although it was reported that the gelding did have a slower than normal post-race recovery. Connections were advised that given the gelding’s record it would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days and would be required to perform 2 re-qualifying trials prior to resuming racing.
RACE 8 – PANTHERS BATHURST PACE – 1730 metres
MILLWOOD GRACE NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.
WATCH ME RAIDER – Driver J Hewitt was given the opportunity to comment on the below market expectation performance of the gelding, he stated that he wasn’t disappointed with its run, he added that he commenced to improve three wide entering the final turn however got pushed wider rounding that turn where it was difficult to make ground.
ASTRAL STRIDE – Trainer/Driver S Hewitt was queried on the below market expectation performance of the filly, he stated that he was a bit disappointed with its run and was at a loss to explain it. He added that he intended to get the filly’s blood tested in the coming days and undertook to report any adverse findings to Stewards.
RACE 9 – BCIT SOLUTIONS PACE – 2260 metres
MYSTERIOUS BEACH – Post-race swab sampled.
FLY OVER STATES – Pre-race swab sampled.
IRON BARK ROAD – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Driver J Hewitt was issued with a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that approaching the 200 metres he attempted a run where there was insufficient room and as a result locked wheels with LA AMERICAIN and was inconvenienced.
KAELEIGHS COMET – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Out of position at the start. Driver A Clancy was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position behind the mobile with the gelding until the start. Tired over the concluding stages of the race.
LA AMERICAIN – Locked wheels with IRON BARK ROAD approaching the 200 metres.
EMILYS PRINCE – Tired over the concluding stages of the race.
