General

Due to the Raceday Paramedics being delayed, the start of the first race was re-scheduled to 7.40pm, with the races following proceeding every twenty minutes, with the exception of race 9 which remained at its initial programmed time of 10.30pm. Following the fall in race 2, where the race was stopped, the re-running of that race was scheduled to 8.30pm with the races following proceeding every twenty minutes.

 

RACE 1 – POPPA'S FUDGE FACTORY PACE – 1720 metres

 

TUKURUA – Hung-out after the start.

CARIBBEAN PAT – Taken up the track after the start when TUKURUA hung-out. Driver J Turnbull was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the mare, he stated that they got caught racing facing the breeze outside the leader which did not suit the mare.

CALA JEWEL – Tightened for room entering the first turn between CARIBBEAN PAT, which had been taken up the track when TUKURUA hung-out and COMPLICATED, which hung-in, and contacted the sulky wheel of COMPLICATED and was checked and raced roughly.

COMPLICATED – Hung-in entering the first turn, as a result CALA JEWEL contacted its sulky wheel.

BARKWAY ARIAN – Raced roughly rounding the home turn.

PHAR LUME NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Inconvenienced entering the first turn when CALA JEWEL was checked. Hung-in leaving the 400 metres, as a result OUR DICKIE BART contacted its sulky wheel. Post-race swab sampled.

OUR DICKIE BART – Inconvenienced entering the first turn when CALA JEWEL was checked. Broke gait leaving the 400 metres. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that PHAR LUME NZ, which had shifted down the track to a three wide position, hung-in marginally as OUR DICKIE BART shifted out marginally, as a result OUR DICKIE BART contacted the sulky wheel of PHAR LUME NZ and was checked and broke gait.

 

RACE 2 – AUSTRALIAN HOTEL PACE – 2100 metres

 

GENERAL – As the field was rounding the first turn SKYE MARY MAC NZ (L Green) broke gait, and while galloping locked wheels with TUFFASOLDBOOTS (M Hawke), resulting in both Driver’s being dislodged from their sulky’s and a number of runner’s being checked to varying degrees. Subsequently, the fall siren was sounded, and the race stopped. L Green was examined by the on-course paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. M Hawke was examined by the paramedics and stood down from her remaining engagements with concerns for a shin injury. M Hawke will be required to obtain a medical clearance prior to resuming driving. Prior to the re-running of the race, all-runners were examined by the Club Veterinarian and passed fit to start. TUFFASOLDBOOTS and SKYE MARY MAC NZ, who both galloped for some distance driverless were declared late scratching’s at 8.12pm by order of Stewards.

TUFFASOLDBOOTS – Locked wheels with the galloping SKYE MARY MAC NZ rounding the first turn, and the Driver’s of both runners were dislodged from their sulky’s and the fall siren was sounded, and the race stopped. M Hawke was examined by the paramedics and stood down from her remaining engagements with concerns for a shin injury. Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8.12pm.

SKYE MARY MAC NZ – Broke gait rounding the first turn after being restrained from the back of FRESH PRINCE, for which a warning was issued. While galloping locked wheels with TUFFASOLDBOOTS, and the Driver’s of both runners were dislodged from their sulky’s and the fall siren was sounded, and the race stopped. L Green was examined by the on-course paramedics and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements. Declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 8.12pm.

DANCE BABY DANCE – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race. At the second attempt to start the race, broke gait during the score-up and a false start was declared, given the circumstances, no action was taken. Tired over the concluding stages of the event.

EYEDIDNTLOSEIT – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race. Inconvenienced near the 200 metres when TIME TO TORQUE hung-out.

ELECTRA GIRL – Pre-race swab sampled. Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race.

FRESH PRINCE – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race. Post-race swab sampled. Delayed post-race sample taken approximately 2.5 hours after the event.

ESTHER RISING – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race.

TIME TO TORQUE – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race. Hung-out near the 200 metres.

TINTINS TREASURE – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race. Inconvenienced behind the tiring DANCE BABY DANCE near the 400 metres.

WARRAWEE CRUZIN – Race was stopped, examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the re-start, and was cleared to take its place in the re-run race.

 

RACE 3 – QUAYLE MILLING PACE – 1720 metres

 

SATIN BANYULA – Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait free of interference entering the first turn, for which a warning was issued.

BONJORGE – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

TIGERS SPIRIT – Tired over the concluding stages of the race.

CATCH THE SHARK – Checked entering the first turn when SATIN BANYULA broke gait.

MAJOR HUSS – Checked entering the first turn when SATIN BANYULA broke gait.

HARVEY HUGHES NZ – Checked entering the first turn when SATIN BANYULA broke gait. Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 4 – SWS BANK PACE – 2100 metres

 

ZEUSS – Tired over the concluding stages of the race.

TAMLIGHT GOODTIME – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start.

DOLLAR BROWNIE – Hung-out under pressure in the home straight. Post-race swab sampled.

SOUNDS TREACHEROUS – Hung-out approaching the 1600 metres. Inconvenienced behind the tiring ZEUSS near the 400 metres.

JILLIBY SAFFRON – Pre-race swab sampled.

GRAFFITI LANE – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1400 metres, for which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 5 – SOUTHWEST TRACTORS PACE – 1720 metres

 

CHASIN BETTER DAYS – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Pre-race swab sampled. Tired over the concluding stages of the race. Driver J Hewitt was questioned regarding the performance, he stated that the gelding had trialled well leading into to tonight’s run so he was expecting a forward showing. He added that it did not travel comfortably throughout as it was hitting its knee, which he put down to being on the smaller track tonight. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding for its performance.

ANGUS FINN NZ – Post-race swab sampled.

 

RACE 6 – TURNERS FURNITURE ONE PACE – 1720 metres

 

LOGAN REASON – Pre-race swab sampled.

PADDY MACH – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it is 12 years old and it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Sulky wheel contacted by HILLVIEW SAM entering the first turn.

HILLVIEW SAM – Driver G Cattell was issued with a reprimand under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving in that entering the first turn he made insufficient effort to prevent his runner from improving to the inside of PADDY MACH where there was insufficient room and made contact to that runners sulky wheel and was checked and raced roughly.

JACKS LAST HOO RAA – Post-race swab sampled.

ALICE ON THE BEACH – Hung-out under pressure near the 100 metres.

 

RACE 7 – ARMA INSURANCE BROKERS 3YO MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

 

VERY BOUTIQUE – Hung-out and raced roughly after the start, given it was the filly’s first race start connections were advised that it would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races. Continued to hang-out and veered-out rounding the first turn, contacted the sulky wheel of BOUND FOR TROUBLE and broke gait and locked wheels with that runner, retired from the event. Connections were advised the filly would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial in front of Stewards prior to it resuming racing. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the filly to have superficial cuts to the outside of its off hind lower leg.

BOUND FOR TROUBLE – Severely checked and broke gait rounding the first turn when VERY BOUTIQUE veered out and contacted its sulky and locked wheels with it. Retired from the event as a result.

MAC THUNDER – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

LA AMERICAIN – Severely checked when VERY BOUTIQUE veered-out and locked wheels with BOUND FOR TROUBLE rounding the first turn.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 2100 metres

 

SHOOBEES SUNSET – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

IRON BARK ROAD – Sulky contacted by KAMIKAZE SCOOB near the 500 metres. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver J Hewitt pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference, in that near the 500 metres, in an endeavour to obtain clear running, he shifted the gelding out when not clear of KAMIKAZE SCOOB which contacted his sulky wheel and was checked and raced roughly. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account J Hewitt’s guilty plea, his good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver J Hewitt had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence at midnight the 2nd of July. Post-race swab sampled.

TULHURST FRANKIE – Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Connections were advised it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to its next race start.

KAMIKAZE SCOOB – Pre-race swab sampled. Contacted the sulky wheel of IRON BARK ROAD near the 500 metres when that runner shifted out and was checked and raced roughly.

IRISH SPEED – Inconvenienced near the 500 metres when KAMIKAZE SCOOB was checked and raced roughly.

 

RACE 9 – TRIMECH PTY LTD PACE – 1720 metres

 

IDEAL TAO – Post-race swab sampled.

ONE HORN BILLY – Pre-race swab sampled.
