The mobile barrier was tested at 11:30am and was passed suitable for racing. Following more consistent rain the mobile barrier was again tested at 12:30pm and once again passed suitable for racing.
RACE 1 – WEDNESDAY MARKETS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND PACE – 1720 metres
General – Consideration was given to a protest lodged by Driver A Delosa (2nd placegetter – LASTING MEMORY) against HELLOVATIME (C Hart) being declared the winner, alleging interference in the home straight on the final occasion. Upon consideration of the evidence and replays it was established that at the 100m HELLOVATIME hung out locking wheels with LASTING MEMORY, resulting in LASTING MEMORY being checked and losing momentum. HELLOVATIME then continued to hang out under pressure approaching the finish line continuing to take LASTING MEMORY wider on the track. In assessing the ½ head margin between the two runners the protest of driver A Delosa was upheld and new numbers announced. The All Clear was subsequently given on the new placings.
RUBATEEKI – Tired to be beaten in excess of 100m. Driver J Gallagher reported that the filly hung out throughout and failed to respond to driving when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. RUBATEEKI was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
HELLOVATIME – Pre-race sample. Post-race sample. Hung out at the 100m locking wheels with LASTING MEMORY. Continued to hang out under pressure taking LASTING MEMORY wider on the track. Lost first placing on protest and was placed on its last chance to race truly.
TIGER LOLA – Tired to be beaten 53m and a warning was issued.
LASTING MEMORY – Trainer R Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 210 for the late driving notification of A Delosa as the driver of the filly. Post-race sample. Checked and locked wheels with HELLOVATIME when that runner hung out. Was furthermore checked when HELLOVATIME continued to shift out approaching the finish line. Gained first placing after successfully lodging a protest against the winner HELLOVTIME.
RACE 2 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1720 metres
CLEMENTSORRELL – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding attaining the age of 14yrs & starting in excess of 200 starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities.
NOTMUCHUPTOP – Pre-race sample.
THE MALDIVES – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding attaining the age of 13yrs & starting in excess of 200 starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities. Held up behind JOGALONG BLUE which was giving ground leaving the back straight and rounding the final turn until the 250m when able to gain clear racing.
ROGERVALERIO LOMBO – Post-race sample.
RACE 3 – STARZ GAME SHOW @ CLUB PACEWAY EVERY SAT TROTTERS MOBILE – 1720 metres
EWING – Galloped free of interference rounding the first turn and a warning was issued.
SUPER SERVICE – Post-race sample. When being shifted wider rounding the first turn contacted the inside sulky wheel of CHIEF RUNNINGCLOUD and trotted roughly. Driver J Meikle was reprimanded for careless driving at this stage.
CHIEF RUNNINGCLOUD – Inside sulky wheel contacted rounding the first turn when SUPER SERVICE was being shifted wider.
PROHIBITED LOVE – Pre-race sample. Galloped free of interference at the 600m and a warning was issued.
WYNBERG WATCH NZ – Out of position in the score up and at the start, will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Galloped free of interference racing down the back straight on the first occasion and a warning was issued.
RACE 4 – JAZZ @ CLUB PACEWAY JULY 6 PACE – 1720 metres
General – The start of this race was delayed owing to an alteration to the sulky seat of IMA SHINKANSEN.
IMA SHINKANSEN – Held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
GO TESS GO – Trainer G Tanti was fined $50 under Rule 210 for the late driving notification of A Delosa.
VESPA STRIDE – Pre-race sample. Post-race sample. Inconvenienced leaving the front straight with one lap to travel when PETES ONA MISSION began to give ground.
HESAA LISTER – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and unable to be fully tested.
PETES ONA MISSION – Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Began to give ground leaving the 800m before then being beaten in excess of 100m. Driver D Murphy added that he believed after over-racing the entire may have choked down. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. In assessing the performance of PETES ONA MISSION connections were advised that the entire would be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
RACE 5 – DACHSHUND FESTIVAL @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND PACE – 1720 metres
BELLRIVERGIRL – Began to give ground leaving the 900m before tiring to be beaten 67m. DASHING CHEDDER and BLISSES BEST which were trailing were checked. Driver C Hart explained that the mare raced competitive until commencing to give ground at the 900m and failed to respond to driving from that stage. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. BELLRIVERGIRL was stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
GIDUP CAPTAIN – Late Scratching at 9:37am acting on veterinary advice.
DASHING CHEDDER – Checked when trailing BELLRIVERGIRL when that runner commenced to give ground at the 800m.
MISTER JONES NZ – Pre-race sample.
BLISSES BEST – Post-race sample. Checked when trailing BELLRIVERGIRL when that runner commenced to give ground at the 800m.
RACE 6 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
General – The start of this race was delayed owing to an alteration to the sulky seat of SNOW HUNTER.
PLAY SOUTHERNLAND – Post-race sample. Held up for clear racing room rounding the final turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Gained an unimpeded run along the peg line to the finish after LOOKIN GOOD MARGIE, which led shifted out under pressure.
CHARLIES ACE NZ – Pre-race sample.
LOOKIN GOOD MARGIE – After leading into the home straight shifted out under pressure allowing an inside run for PLAY SOUTHERNLAND which was initially held up.
SNOW HUNTER – Pre-race sample. Held up for clear racing room and unable to be fully tested in the run to the finish.
POLKA DELIGHGT NZ – Held up for clear racing room and unable to be fully tested in the run to the finish.
RACE 7 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1720 metres
General – The start of this race was delayed owing to Ballarat Thoroughbreds race 7 running behind schedule.
MAJOR JAROD – Shifted out racing into the back straight on the final occasion when Driver J Farrugia was attempting to activate removable gear. Inconvenienced GOODTIME SAILOR which was racing to the outside of MAJOR JAROD. Driver J Farrugia was issued with a reprimand for careless driving at this stage.
RADIANT AMBER – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the mare starting in excess of 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities.
GOODTIME SAILOR – Pre-race sample. Inconvenienced at the 600m when MAJOR JAROD shifted out. Tired to be beaten 58m and a warning was issued.
TUAPEKA LOU NZ – Post-race sample. Galloped free of interference rounding the first turn and a warning was issued. Hung in and contacted marker pegs rounding the final turn before then veering out, when being corrected by its driver. BETTINE and THERES WALLY were inconvenienced.
WATCH ME REACT – Galloped in the score up, was out of position at the start and a warning was issued.
BETTINE – Inconvenienced upon entering the home straight when TUAPEKA LOU NZ veered out.

RACE 8 – AUSSIE NIGHT MARKETS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND JULY 13 PACE – 2125 metres
MCARDOM – Hung out after the start locking wheel momentarily with GREY CADILLAC, which was racing in restricted room between MCARDOM and GOTTADOBETTOR.
TOMMYS LUCK – Inconvenienced after the start when MCARDOM and GREY CADILLAC locked wheels momentarily. Inconvenienced in the home straight on the final occasion when trailing DESIDERIO, which shifted out under pressure.
GOTTADOBETTOR – Post-race sample. Inconvenienced after the start when having to shift wider due to MCARDOM and GREY CADILLAC locking wheels to the inside of GOTTADOBETTOR.
NOTHINGBUTWAVES – Inconvenienced in the home straight on the final occasion due to DESIDERIO shifting out under pressure.
DANCING WITH MY EX – Pre-race sample.
DESIDERIO – Inconvenienced after the start when MCARDOM and GREY CADILLAC locked wheels. Shifted out under pressure approaching the finish line.
GREY CADILLAC – Shifted in after the start when racing in restricted room to the inside of GOTTADOBETTOR. Locked wheels and checked with MCARDOM after that runner hung out initially after the start. Driver S Piltz explained that the pre-race instructions were to have the gelding driven forward when runners settled into their positions during the early stages. Mr Piltz explained that GREY CADILLAC performs better over the distance of 2125m and added that after improving three wide due to the speed of the race, which was initially slow, quickened resulting in his drive being unable to improve to a two wide position after working forward three wide. This resulted in GREY CADILLAC remaining three wide for the middle and later stages of the event.
