RACE 1 – BARASTOC PACE – 1609 metres

GENERAL – Stewards opened an inquiry into the running and handling of the event in particular with runners LOVE LOU (J Taaffe) and LONGNWINDINGROAD (B Hughes).  Stewards adjourned the inquiry to a time and date to be fixed.

LOVE LOU – Pre-race sample was taken.  Obtained inside running over the concluding stages.  Post-race sample was taken.

LONGNWINDINGROAD – Shifted away from the marker pegs upon entry to the home straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. 

NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 2 – COCA COLA HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

FLEUR BELLA – Post-race sample was taken.

ULTIMATE DIVA – Had a tendency to hang in as the field negotiated the final turn.

GOD DAM NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian.  Post-race examination revealed it to have bled from both nostrils.  As this was the first reported attack connections were advised it would be stood down for a period of three months in addition to one requalifying trial and a veterinary certificate of fitness.

WATSLUVGOTTADO – Hampered as the field was racing down the back straight on the final occasion when trailing weakening runners.

HIDDEN DELIGHT NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

RACE 3 – GLOBAL BRANDS LIQUOR PACE – 2030 metres

GENERAL – Stewards opened and inquiry into the running and handling of the event with runners in particular OBADIAH DRAGON NZ (C Hart) and IMPERIAL NIGHT (J Callaghan) into reasons for IMPERIAL NIGHT shifting wider at the top of the home straight which allowed clear running for OBADIAH DRAGON NZ to progress through and was ultimately successful. The inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed.

OBADIAH DRAGON NZ – Obtained inside running over the concluding stages.  Post-race sample was taken.

YESNOMAYBESO – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

IMPERIAL NIGHT – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 4 – TERMI PRO SHIELD PACE – 1609 metres

ZAHRA LOU – Post-race sample was taken.

ABSTRACT ART – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 5 – PFD FOOD SERVICE PACE – 1609 metres

DANGEROUS THREATS – Post-race sample was taken.

MASTER CATCH – Pre-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 6 – TOOHEYS THREE YEAR OLD PACE – 1609 metres

MAC THUNDER – Post-race sample was taken.

ERROL FIN – Broke stride as the field negotiated the final turn.  A warning was issued.  Stewards also questioned driver J Callaghan in relation to applying the whip whilst in a gallop.  Driver J Callaghan explained that as ERROL FIN broke stride there was runners within close proximity in particular trailing him.  He further added that when his runner broke it dropped pace quite quickly and was just attempting to relieve pressure to runners trailing.  Stewards noted his comments and advised J Callaghan of his obligations when his runner is in a gallop.

OAK RIDGE – Checked as the field negotiated the final turn. 

UPSTREAM – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

FRANCOS DELIGHT – Broke stride during the middle stages of the score up and was out of position at the start.  Connections were advised that it will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

ELLEZIE – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 7 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 2030 metres

SHADOW ECLIPSE – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

WATCH YOUR BACK NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. 

ULTIMATE RHAPSODY – Post-race sample was taken.

TWO TICKS NZ – Had a tendency to race roughly at various stages of the event and weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed it to have swelling above the knee on the near side fore leg which may have been irritated by its hopples.  Upon veterinary recommendations was stood down for a period of seven days.

 

RACE 8 – AVE TECHNOLOGIES TWO YEAR OLD MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

TENNESSEE KID – Pre-race sample was taken. 

LAINE CRUSADER – Raced roughly during the middle stages of the score up.  Connections were advised it will be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.  Raced greenly and weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  A warning was issued.

BARSHOC – Raced greenly throughout the event and gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  Connections were advised it will be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

MY ULTIMATE FRANCO NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 9 – THE TAB APP MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

SLICK AND SUAVE – Driver Z Carroll pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 168(1)(a) in that when leaving the back straight on the final occasion was under heavy driving and drove up onto the back of MIKI BE FREE which as a result shifted out and checked the running of LORD JAYDO whereas a result that runner sustained contact to its near side wheel which resulted in a puncture placing it at a disadvantage over the concluding stages also as a result SLICK AND SUAVE raced roughly for a short distance.  Driver Z Carroll’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account the high degree of carelessness in relation to the incident, his relative inexperience and record in relation to the rule.  Driver Z Carroll further pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying the whip to SLICK AND SUAVE over the concluding stages did so in an action which engaged the shoulder.  Driver Z Carroll was fined the sum of $200.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account his good driving record in relation to the rule.

LORD JAYDO – Sustained a contact to the near side wheel as the field negotiated the final turn and as a result sustained a puncture. 

THE GREAT WAVE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

ROCK AM ALYESKA – Out of position as the start was affected.  A warning was issued.

MAJOR POPPI – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.
