RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2260 metres
TULHURST TIMMY – Post-race swab sample.
GABBYS SPORTSTAR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
TARAMIN – Pre-race blood sample.
CHELSEAS GIRL – Driver P Wood was questioned in relation to whether he had released his hopple shorteners prior to crossing the finishing line. After taking evidence from Mr Wood, Stewards and viewing the available race day footage it was concluded the footage was inconclusive as to if Mr Wood had released the hopple shorteners prior to the crossing the finishing line and as a result no further action was taken. Mr Wood was reminded of his obligations going forward to ensure hopple shorteners are released prior to crossing the finishing line.
RACE 2 – NUTRIEN GOLD CROWN SALE GRADUATE FINAL 13 AUGUST PACE – 1730 metres
RATATATTAT – When being steered down to obtain the sprint lane in the home straight on the final occasion the gelding became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.
TAPAGANOOSH - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not started since 5 June 2024. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
RUNKLE – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 1200 metres when over racing improved onto the back of TAPAGANOOSH and as a result broke stride. A warning was issued.
BOHEMIAN BRAWLER – Approaching the 1200 metres was inconvenienced when trailing RUNKLE who had broke stride. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.
THE ROGUE I AM – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 3 – HYNASH GROUP WESTERN DISTRICTS DERBY 13 AUGUST 3YO PACE – 1730 metres
PAPA JOE – Pre-race blood sample.
MAMMALS BLAZE – Entering the home straight on the final occasion when being shifted wider to obtain clear running became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
FOREVER ON HE PUNT – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 4 – SUCCESS STUD WESTERN DISTRICTS OAKS 13 AUGUST LADYSHP PACE – 1730 metres
SHARPER MEMORY – Driver J Coney was questioned on the mare’s overall performance when leading the event failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in 7th position beaten 14.3 metres. Miss Coney stated she was disappointed in the overall performance as the mare travelled comfortably in the lead and when placed under pressure failed to respond.
WINDY HILL LUCY – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and was not fully tested.
THE ACCIDENTAL ONE – In the home straight on the final occasion had a tendency to hang in when racing to the outside of TIME TO TORQUE, when that runner was being shifted wider was taken up the track and contacted the inside sulky wheel of SHE MAYBE BETTOR and as a result was checked and raced roughly.
TIME TO TORQUE – Driver N Turnbull was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the home straight on the final occasion has shifted his runner wider on the track when insufficiently clear of THE ACCIDENTAL ONE which was taken up the track contacting the sulky wheel of SHE MAYBE BETTOR being checked and raced roughly. It was noted Mr Turnbull dropped his whip approaching the 200 metres.
DELIGHTFUL STAR NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
SHE MAYBE BETTOR – Entering the home straight on the final occasion the inside sulky wheel was contacted by THE ACCIDENTAL ONE who was shifted wider.
A TRUE LOVE – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 5 – WESTERN DISTRICTS CHAMPIONSHIPS 13 AUGUST PACE – 1730 metres
HES CHIMING – Had a tendency to hang out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion. Post-race swab sample.
REBOUNDER – Shortly after the start was checked and broke stride after locking wheels with WORKS FOR ME NZ who had hung out . Approaching the 300 metres was checked and placed in restricted racing room when SAINT VERAN shifted wider when insufficiently clear.
WORKS FOR ME NZ – Hung in shortly after the start and as a result was checked when locking wheels with REBOUNDER. A warning was placed on the mare’s racing manners.
BAXTER RED - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not raced since 17 May 2024.
BETTORS HOPE – Pre-race blood sample. Checked shortly after the start when shifting wider to avoid REBOUNDER who had broke stride. Leaving the 100 metres had a tendency to race roughly under pressure. A warning was issued.
PAS DE CHEVAL – Shortly after the start was checked when shifting wider to avoid REBOUNDER. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
SAINT VERAN – Driver C Griffiths was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when leaving the 300 metres when shifting his runner wider had done so when insufficiently clear of REBOUNDER and as a result that runner was placed in restricted racing room.
RACE 6 – COBBITTY EQUINE WELCOME TATOO ARTIST PACE – 2260 metres
MY ULTIMATE SKEETA – Pre-race blood sample.
DARK TERROR – Driver G Lee was questioned on the tactics adopted when electing to hold the position outside the lead when challenged by POPS LAGACY in the early stages of the race. He stated it was the instruction to lead or hold the position outside the lead and with the tempo of the race when challenged by POPS LEGACY for a short distance in the early stages he elected to hold the position and considering the way his horse performed in the race was more than happy with the overall performance.
HAPPY REG – Driver O Frisby reported she dropped her whip when leaving the 600 metres. Furthermore, she was cautioned on the manner in which she used her rein when placing the gelding under pressure over the final 300 metres.
POPS LEGACY – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to race roughly when being restrained in the middle stages of the event. Driver M Rue was queried on the tactics adopted in the early stages when working forward three wide in an attempt to obtain the position outside the lead then restraining the gelding to the tail of the field when unable to obtain that position. He stated the gelding is normally driven in a forward manner and with the leaders having done some work in the early stages he believed the position outside the lead would be available but when working forward to the outside of DARK TERROR he realised that position would not be available and as a result restrained POPS LEAGACY to the tail of the field. His comments were noted.
BUSHY BEACH NZ – Fractious when leaving the score up. A warning was issued. Tired over the concluding stages to finish in 9th position beaten 83.3 metres. Driver M Atkinson stated after the gelding having to chase the mobile to be in position by the start and working forward in the early stages may have took its toll over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Considering the distance beaten, BUSHY BEACH NZ will be required to requalify on one occasion. Post-race swab sample. The gelding was claimed.
SHELL SHOCK NZ – Post-race swab sample. The gelding was claimed.
RACE 7 – BLUEPRINT SIGNS PACE – 2260 metres
MIKE ROSS NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Checked between the 800 metres and 700 metres when trailing SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT who was yielding ground quickly. Post-race swab sample.
SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT – Trainer/Driver M Turnbull could give no reasonable explanation for the mare tiring from the 800 metres to finish in 9th and last position beaten 146.2 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The mare will be required to requalify on one occasion prior to racing.
HELENS BOY – Tired over the final 300 metres to be beaten 57.7 metres. A warning was issued.
QUEENHIGH FLUSH NZ – Trainer M Turnbull could give no reasonable explanation for the mare’s poor performance when she yielded ground over the final 400 metres to finish in 8th position beaten 101.2 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The mare will be required to requalify on one occasion.
ONE STUNIN MELODY – Checked between the 800 metres and the 700 metres when trailing MIKE ROSS NZ.
RACE 8 – UP THE NSW BLUES PACE – 2260 metres
SHES DUNNA RUNNA – Approaching the 450 metres contacted the sulky wheel of ESTHERS LAST who was yielding ground and raced roughly.
ESTHERS LAST – Approaching the 450 metres when yielding ground the outside sulky wheel was contacted by SHES DUNNA RUNNA. Trainer/Driver N Hurst could give no reasonable explanation for the filly’s overall performance when she tired over the final 450 metres to finish in 9th position beaten 150.2 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The filly will be required to requalify on one occasion.

General
Jye Coney was fined the sum of $400 under rule 159B(1)(i) for failing to wear a correctly affixed protective vest when driving OLIVER SHARK in trial 2 at Bathurst 7-7-2025.
