CARRERA SUNSET NZ – Stewards questioned driver Jye Coney with regards to the tactics he adopted on the mare, in particular his decision to switch back to the inside upon entry to the home straight rather than continuing to the outside of NO DRAMAS.  Mr Coney advised Stewards that upon entry to the home straight he was racing behind the outside wheel of NO DRAMAS when he noticed that running had developed to the inside of that runner and he elected to steer CARRERA SUNSET NZ down the track. Mr Coney further advised that soon after steering down the track his runner improved quickly onto the back of Mr Day and he had to check his runner and again looked to come wider on the track to obtain clear running to the outside of NO DRAMAS and in doing so CARRERA SUNSET NZ raced roughly for a short distance.  Mr Coney further added that having driven the mare on previous occasions he was aware that it could hang in over the concluding stages and this contributed to his decision to take an inside run rather than come to the outside of NO DRAMAS. After having watched the films Mr Coney advised that he believed he should have continued with a run to the inside of Mr Day rather than checking his runner and bringing it wider on the track.  After considering the explanation provided by Mr Coney, Stewards advised they intended to take no further action other than to advise Mr Coney they believed he had erred in not continuing to come wider on the track upon entry to the home straight and providing CARRERA SUNSET NZ with an unimpeded run to the finish of the event.
