Mr McDonough explained that HALLOWEEN was quite disappointing in his opinion over the concluding stages given the relatively good run HALLOWEEN was afforded in the lead. Mr McDonough further explained HALLOWEEN was somewhat disappointing at its most recent start at Newcastle on 8 July 2025 and he was of the view connections would now afford HALLOWEEN a brief let up prior to its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination of HALLOWEEN failed to reveal any significant findings.

CONSIDER IT DONE – Driver Will Rixon was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the mare and the overall performance of CONSIDER IT DONE which finished in 9th placing beaten 19 metres ($3.70). Mr Rixon explained that after initially contesting the lead and being unsuccessful he did not feel that SAPPHIRENDIAMONDS would be a suitable runner to follow and as a consequence he directed CONSIDER IT DONE out to follow WILL I AM approaching the 1200 metres. Mr Rixon added that given the fast first quarter he felt that WILL I AM may surrender the lead given the recent good form of CONSIDER IT DONE and for this reason he allowed the mare to progress forward and challenge WILL I AM for the lead shortly after passing the 1000 metres, however it was apparent shortly after that WILL I AM would maintain the lead. Mr Rixon added as a consequence CONSIDER IT DONE found it difficult being positioned without cover such a distance from the finish however he was content with the performance of the mare considering the use that had been made of CONSIDER IT DONE with the mare was only beaten approximately 19 metres.

JUST HOME GROWN NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Over raced shortly after the start.

EXPLOSIVE BRONSKI – Post-race swab sample.

WILL I AM – Driver Joshua Gallagher was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding and the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 8th placing beaten 17 metres. Mr Gallagher explained he allowed WILL I AM to improve to the lead approaching the 1200 metres consistent with the geldings racing pattern which had proven successful on multiple occasions. Mr Gallagher added that whilst the first quarter was fast in 26.3 seconds he did not make use of WILL I AM during the initial stages and upon securing the lead WILL I AM was travelling well. Mr Gallagher added he did not feel CONSIDER IT DONE was the most suitable runner to surrender the lead to as he was mindful CONSIDER IT DONE was not always driven in such a manner and for this reason maintained the lead when challenged.  Mr Gallagher added given the fast first 800 metres of the event he was content with the performance of WILL I AM over the concluding stages.
