RACE 1 – AUSTRALIAN PACING GOLD PACE – 2300 metres

HORN PLAYER – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1800 metres.

ROCLEA IMAGE – Pre-race blood sample.

CAPTAINS CATCH – Stewards questioned Driver Gavin Fitzpatrick with regards to the performance of CAPTAINS CATCH which gave ground over the concluding stages to finish in 9th placing beaten 24 metres. Mr Fitzpatrick advised Stewards the gelding was disappointing this evening and failed to respond over the concluding stages. Mr Fitzpatrick further added the gelding had raced at Menangle on Monday and may need to have its workload increased to race with that frequency. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation of Mr Fitzpatrick, his comments were noted.

RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU PACE (HEAT 1) – 1609 metres

DUKES CHOICE – Pre-race blood sample. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.

ALTA WILLIAM – Broke stride during the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. Post-race swab sample.

RACE 3 – ACCESS SECURITY PROTECTION SERVICES PACE (HEAT 2) – 1609 METRES

ITZMINONTHELINE – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

ITS CONFIDENTIAL – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride during the early stages of the score up. After considering the recent record of the colt, a warning was issued. Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres.

RACE 4 – BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE (HEAT 3) – 1609 metres

VITE MONET – Pre-race blood sample. Broke after the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. Broke under pressure. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. Mr McRae informed Stewards that Mr Judd had made some gear changes to the gelding for tonight’s event in an attempt to correct the horses racing manner and would further review before the horse competes again.

VINKE B NZ – Caught racing wide in the early stage of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

SWEET HAYLEY JANE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.

RACE 5 – LUCK OF THE IRISH PACE (HEAT 4) – 1609 metres

ALTA SIERRA – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 900 metres.

MESSERATI – Pre-race blood sample. Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 200 metres. Checked after the start and contacted the offside sulky wheel of DONEGAL LUTHER NZ when that runner broke stride approaching the first turn.

DONEGAL LUTHER NZ – Broke after the start checking OUTSIDE FIGHTER causing that runner to contact the offside sulky wheel of DONEGAL LUTHER NZ and as a result DONEGAL LUTHER NZ sustained a flat offside sulky tyre and was retired from the event approaching the 1100 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of DONEGAL LUTHER NZ failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

INVITATION ONLY NZ – Raced roughly after the start and inconvenienced RAGING SEA. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. Worked forward to the lead approaching the 1100 metres. Stewards questioned Driver Peter McRae with regards to the performance of the gelding which gave ground over the concluding stages to finish in 9th placing beaten 17 metres. Mr McRae advised stewards the gelding dropped the bit once finding the lead and never travelled thereafter. Mr McRae further advised that when he pulled the plugs passing the 1200 metres and activated the drop down blinds, the gelding failed to respond. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RAGING SEA – Inconvenienced after the start when INVITATION ONLY NZ raced roughly. Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the lead passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

PROMISING – Broke stride during the early stages of the score up. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued. 

RACE 6 – CLUB MENANGLE STYLISH MEMPHIS STAKES (LISTED CLASSIC) – 1609 metres

General – Following the completion of Race 6 and prior to the declaration of All Clear, Stewards ordered the announcement of ‘Hold All Tickets’ to allow an investigation to be completed into the participation of CARRERA SUNSET NZ and BELLA DANZA. Following investigation which confirmed the identity of both horses and taking evidence from Drivers Mat Rue and Blake Jones, as well as Julie Heman the Stable Representative for Jason Grimson, it was determined that both CARRERA SUNSET NZ and BELLA DANZA had competed from the correct barriers, however Mat Rue had driven BELLA DANZA despite being engaged to drive CARRERA SUNSET NZ, whilst Blake Jones had driven CARRERA SUNSET NZ despite being engaged to drive BELLA DANZA. After considering the evidence, Stewards ordered in accordance with Rule 15 (t) that CARRERA SUNSET NZ and BELLA DANZA be declared non-runners at 9:15pm and gave the All Clear in accordance with the judge’s numbers 11 – 5 – 3 – 8. At a subsequent inquiry, Mr Rue, Mr Jones and Mrs Henman pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 239A, in that their negligence had contributed to the horses having competed with the incorrect drivers engaged. After considering the guilty pleas, the impact that the negligence had on the wagering and integrity of the event and that the pre-race compliance measures did not identify the error, Mr Rue, Mr Jones and Mrs Henman were each fined $250.

LUVARESCHS – An inquiry into the whip action displayed by Driver Leigh Sutton was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

RACE 8 – MULTIQUIP AGGREGATES TROTTERS MOBILE – 2300 metres

AFFAIRE DE COVER – Shifted out under pressure.

OH NOVA LOVE NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1800 metres. Stewards questioned Driver Harrison Ross with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired over the concluding stages of the event to be beaten 63 metres. Mr Ross advised stewards in his opinion the gelding was very plain despite having done a bit of work out of the gate to find the lead. Mr Ross further advised that Trainer Dean Atkinson advised he would look to take bloods from the gelding early in the week and advised Stewards of any concerns. After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was stood down to satisfactorily complete one requalifying trial.

SUNNY GEE – Pre-race blood sample.

COURAGE STRIDE – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1900 metres.

FONDA RHONDA – Pre-race blood sample. Raced roughly between the 1200 metres and the 1000 metres and as a result lost ground. After considering the recent record of the mare, a warning was issued.
