JESSIE LEE – Trainer/ Driver M Hewitt explained that he withstood a challenge for the lead off SHE THE DEVIL during the early stages due to JESSIE LEE winning from a similar position at its most previous start at Young 22 July 2025. Mr Hewitt stated that on that occasion his drive was able to win by 19m and he was confident that driven similar this evening JESSIE LEE would be competitive once again. Mr Hewitt added that he contributed the overall performance of his runner to the early work endured during the early stages when being challenged for the lead from SHE THE DEVIL. Mr Hewitt said in hindsight that given the slightly harder event this evening he may have been better suited to restraining and taking a trail from a more favourable runner in the event. Mr Hewitt advised that in similar higher-grade races he would look to drive JESSIE LEE with cover when circumstances permitted. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Mr Betts added that LIMBO LILLY travelled well throughout and wasn’t concerned racing in that position due to LIMBO LILLY being competitive from similar positions previously. Mr Betts added that when FLIPTOP BOTTLESHOP improved to his drive outside he felt his runner become placed under pressure and failed to respond to driving from that stage. Mr Turnbull added that he would have been content to remain in the lead if his runner was able to gain a easier lead.
BEACH ON FIRE – Driver J Rusten advised that after being caught racing without cover and the lead appearing to be available, she elected to progress forward.
