HUDSON RIVER – When leaving the 100 meters was checked and broke when making contact to the sulky wheel of ALWAYS LIGHTNING

RACE 5 – GARRARDS WESTERN LOYALTY SERIES HEAT 1 – 2120 metres

MISS BLUE STORK – When leaving the 1600 metres, negotiating the turn has shifted out and as a result has made contact with SANDERS and then when being corrected back down the track has tightened VINYGETSACHANCE with that runner breaking stride.  Considering the mare’s racing record MISS BLUE STORK will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

HESKOALATEE – Driver T Pay was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance which failed to run on over the final 300 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 71.3 metres.  He stated he was very disappointed in the gelding’s performance as he had a reasonable run throughout the event but believed the longer distance may have been detrimental to the gelding’s overall performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  HESKOALATEE will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

CALM REASON – ($2.50 fav) Driver J Turnbull was questioned on his decision to shift the runner down to a marker line position in the early stages of the event where the gelding was held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres where he became unbalanced and broke stride.  He stated with the gelding being up in grade on its previous run at Parkes he believed that the gelding failed to perform when racing in the one out one back position and as such elected to shift the runner down to the running line to obtain cover. He further stated when leaving the 400 metres it was the intention to shift the gelding wider to obtain clear running but with VALENTINI racing to his outside he was unable to shift that runner and as a result was unable to obtain clear running until the 100 metres. When shifting his runner up the track CALM REASON became unbalanced and broke stride.  A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

LIMBO LOTTIE – Broke stride at the 1100 metres.  A warning was issued.

VALENTINI – Driver P Betts was queried on the mare’s overall performance which failed to perform up to expectations finishing in sixth position beaten 45.4 metres.  Miss Betts was disappointed in the mare’s overall performance but considered the longer distance of the race may have been detrimental but expected the mare to finish the race better.  A warning was placed on the mare’s racing manners.

MATTERSON EXPRESS – Pre-race blood.  Post-race swab.

ROCKNROLL UPTON – Driver J Turnbull was queried on the gelding’s overall performance which failed to run on over the final 300 metres to finish in seventh position beaten 57 metres.  Mr Turnbull could give no reasonable explanation for the poor performance.  He further added that trainer J Mitchell would consider the gelding’s racing future in the coming days.  ROCKNROLL UPTON will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

WOKKA ROCK – Pre-race blood.  Leaving the 200 metres when shifting down the track at a similar time to STRAIGHTNNARROW improving to the gelding’s inside that runner was tightened and contacted marker pegs and broke stride.  As no one horse or driver could solely be to blame for this incident no action was taken.

BARKWAY THOMAS – Trainer/driver N Hoy stated the gelding had a tendency to hang out through the event and over raced to the detriment of the gelding’s performance which finished in eighth position beaten 88.9 metres.  The gelding will be required to requalify on one occasion.
