RACE 3 – FARMER JOES WHOLESALE PACE – 2300 metres
LUVARESCHS – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards approved a late driver application for Josh Gallagher to replace Leigh Sutton as the driver of the mare.
TUAPEKA LOU NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1900 metres. Post-race swab sample.
MAURLEN BOY – Pre-race blood sample
DUTY OF CARE – Hung out when being restrained to a position on the marker pegs passing the 1900 metres. Stewards questioned Trainer Adam Ruggari with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired over the concluding stages to finish in 10th placing beaten 49 metres. Mr Ruggari advised stewards he was disappointed with the performance of the gelding however noted it raced intractably throughout the event. Mr Ruggari further added he would look to conduct some follow up testing with the gelding during the upcoming week before determining when the gelding returns to the races and indicated he would provide the results of those tests to Stewards. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.

RACE 4 – BE HAPPY MACH @ WINGATE FARM PACE – 1609 metres
KANENA PROVLIMA – Pre-race blood sample.
JEWEL MELODY – Pre-race blood sample. Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.
HORN PLAYER – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 5 – SUCCESS STUD CELEBRATING 58 YEARS OF BUSINESS PACE – 1609 metres
PETES SAID SO NZ – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts. These examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
NYACK – Pre-race blood sample. Gave ground over the concluding stages. Stewards questioned Driver James Rattray with regards to the performance of the horse which finished in 8th placing beaten 11 metres. Mr Rattray advised stewards he was disappointed with the performance of the horse despite having to work hard to find the lead of the event. Mr Rattray indicated the horse in his opinion had pulled up fine and only being second up this evening would benefit from the run. Mr Rattray further indicated that he would nominate NYACK for the Len Smith Mile. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Rattray, Stewards determined to note his comments.
EYE KEEP SMILING – Pre-race blood sample. Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 6 – HYLAND HARNESS COLOURS TROTTERS DISCRETIONARY HANDICAP – 2300 metres
ALDEBARAN JENSEN – Inconvenienced passing the 400 metres when AFFAIRE DE COVER gave ground.
MALIBUU – Pre-race blood sample.
HES A HAMMER – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride free of interference approaching the 200 metres. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.
AFFAIRE DE COVER – Gave ground passing the 400 metres and inconvenienced ALDEBARAN JENSEN, SHEETWEB WEAVER and SUNNY GEE.
SUNNY GEE – Over raced when the pace slackened approaching the 1300 metres. Inconvenienced passing the 400 metres when AFFAIRE DE COVER gave ground.
RAKERO BLAZE NZ – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres. Post-race swab sample.
SHEETWEB WEAVER – Inconvenienced passing the 400 metres when AFFAIRE DE COVER gave ground.
RACE 7 – BUBBA GUMP PEST CONTROL PACE – 2300 metres
VAN BASTEN – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
MICK DANGER – Pre-race blood sample.
UNFAZED NZ – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.
BAINBRIDGE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 250 metres.

BARTELLO – Trainer Grant Ellul was fined $100 for the late notification of Chris Geary as the driver of the gelding. Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.
SPRINGFIELD AFFAIR – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.
