RACE 1 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1740 metres
KEAYANG SANTIAGO – Pre-race blood sample. Raced roughly on the final turn before breaking under pressure approaching the 150 metres. In view of the geldings recent record KEAYANG SANTIAGO it will be stood down to complete two requalifying trials and for a period of 14 days.
LA CAVALLETTA – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE PACING STUD PACE – 1740 metres
BETTES BLUE VIOLET – Pre-race blood sample.
OTTOS WEALTH – Post-race swab sample.
MILLWOOD GRACE – Pre-race blood sample.
THE BANKER NZ – Became unbalanced and broke gait approaching the 150 metres for which a warning as issued.
RACE 3 – DANIEL WOODS FUNERAL CARE PACE – 1740 metres
BOUND FOR TROUBLE – Slow to begin from the mobile.
IM ON NO SLEEP – Pre-race blood sample.
PAPENHUYZEN NZ – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 4 – TAYLOR MAURER RMAX ELITE 3YO PACE – 1740 metres
HUNGRYFORLOVE – Commenced to tire form the 600 metres to be beaten 86.2 metres. In view of the fillies performance HUNGRYFORLOVE will be required to complete one requalifying trial. A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to have a poor recovery.
THIS TIME NZ – Hung out at various stages throughout the race for which a warning was issued. Post-race swab sample.
WEONA MISS MIKI – Trainer Brad Hewitt was issued a reprimand under Rule 41(1) for failing to be on course by the prescribed time. Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 5 – RIVERINA ENSUITE HIRE PACE – 1740 metres
YANKEE BABE – Hung out after the start and was slow to begin from the mobile.
SET PLAY – Stewards questioned Driver Amy Diebert in regards to the overall performance of the gelding which after leading gave ground to be beaten into 8th position beaten 27.4 metres. Ms Diebert felt the gelding had to work hard to find the lead before pressure was applied approaching the 700 metres by PAPIER MACHE and in future may look to drive SET PLAY with cover.
LEWENDON – Held up in the early stages of the home straight.
VIEW THE ART – Pre-race blood sample. Stewards questioned stable representative Mr Jake Stockton in regards to the seemingly improved performance of the mare. Mr Stockton explained the mare was having is first start for the stable and after winning a recent trial the stable were confident of a forward showing today. Post-race swab sample.
PAPIER MACHE – Stewards questioned Trainer/Driver Jackson Painting on his driving tactics after pressuring for the lead at the 700 metres before eventually working forward to the lead passing the 600 metres where the gelding failed to run on to finish in 5th position beaten 18.5 metres. Mr Painting explained PAPIER MACHE was having its first start for his stable and had been working well and was expecting the gelding to perform well. Passing the 700 metres he felt the gelding was travelling strong and the leader SET PLAY had done some work and was being urged along so he elected to issue a challenge for the lead which was successful, however the gelding failed to run on over the concluding stages. Mr Painting stated he was disappointed with the gelding’s performance and would potentially look to drive the gelding more conservatively in future.
RACE 6 – D & L EARTHMOVING PACE – 1740 metres
KHULAN KID – Pre-race blood sample. Driver Matthew Atkinson was cautioned in relation to his whip action over the concluding stages.
BRAEBEACH NZ – Post-race swab sample.
TIGER CHEDDAR – Pre-race blood sample. Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten 43 metres. In view of the geldings performance TIGER CHEDDAR was issued a warning. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
RACE 7 – JACINTA BODEL HOMES LADYSHIP PACE – 1740 metres
WE DEALIN DIAMONDS – Pre-race blood sample. Driver Nathan Jack was questioned in regards to the overall performance of the filly after failing to run on to be beaten 40.4 metres and finish in 7th position. Mr Jack explained the filly was up in grade from its most recent win and as the filly was first up from a spell expected further improvement from the run.
ART SPACE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight before obtaining clear running in the sprint lane.
ALIZA HILL – Over raced throughout the event.
FEAR THE PAIN NZ – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 8 – STROUD HOMES PACE – 1740 metres
BUBBY TO BASE – Pre-race blood sample. Broke after the start and will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.
JUST ROLLYOUROWN NZ – Post-race swab sample.
