Driver W Rixon explained that approaching the first turn he noticed BETTORLIGHTEM UP was difficult to steer and provided him some difficulty throughout the run and upon returning to the stalls noted he had suffered a gear malfunction when the bit had slipped in the horse’s mouth. Mr Rixon explained considering the gear malfunction he was not overly disappointed in the colt’s performance.

THE DOME – Checked and paced roughly over the concluding stages when TIGERNATOR was taken up the track into its running.

Mr Morris explained he elected to improve his drive approaching the 600 metres as a result of the tempo of the event and was able to cross forward of the field passing the 400 metres and noted rounding the turn the gelding was travelling strongly however when straightening the gelding appeared to switch off and as a result failed to find the line. Mr Morris explained he was disappointed in the way NITRO DANNY found the line and expected the gelding to be successful the way it was travelling leaving the 400 metres. Mr Morris added considering the performance of NITRO DANNY he may reassess the way he drives the gelding in upcoming runs.

Mr Morris explained he believed the mare is capable of the fast tempo that was set during the event however noted he didn’t believe the mare appreciated the pressure that was applied to his drive by DESTINY STRIDE throughout the event and as a result failed to run on over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

DESTINY STRIDE – Over raced when positioned outside the leader when contacting its sulky wheels. Stewards questioned Driver Z Fitzpatrick in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the mare when successful in tonight’s event. Ms Fitzpatrick explained at its most recent run on 4 September 2025, the mare drew wide and as a result had no luck in running. Ms Fitzpatrick added at its previous run at Penrith on 7 August 2025 connections were not happy with the way the mare pulled up following the event and as a result they elected to give the mare a short let up and added she was satisfied with the way the mare performed in tonight’s event after using the draw to its advantage. Mr Douglass explained the pre-race plan was to try and work forward however noting the speed from his inside from EYE CAN TRY and DESTINY STRIDE he was caught racing three wide and once DESTINY STRIDE positioned itself outside the leader, he noted the mare was over racing significantly and as a result was required to restrain to the tail of the field. Mr Douglass explained that whilst restraining MARATHON MAN NZ the gelding was over racing and proved difficult to restrain to the tail further resulting in the gelding failing to run on over the concluding stages.
