MAKE MINE BETTOR – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

BARRYS BROTHER – Hampered and forced slightly wider rounding the home turn when racing outside SPOOKY ART which shifted out abruptly.

MUSTANG MUSCLE – Had to be checked and broke stride for a short distance rounding the turn after the start when the tempo steadied abruptly. Became unresponsive inside the 400 metres and weakened. Connections were advised a poor performance warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.

SPOOKY ART – Raced ungenerously throughout and when being driven forward approaching the home turn contacted the sulky of LETMEBECLEAR and blundered. Subsequently Driver P Grima was reprimanded under rule 168(1)(a), for attempting to improve into an area where there was insufficient racing room.

RACE 3 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1980 metres.

REDS GOOD TO GO – Pre-race blood sample. Had to be checked severely, broke stride and galloped for some distance after being crowded by MONTANA NIGHTS, which was over racing and hung in despite the efforts of its driver. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a laceration to its near fore coronet band. Connections were advised that prior to racing again REDS GOOD TO GO must undergo a veterinary examination to determine its fitness.

MONTANA NIGHTS – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages and hung in, then approaching the winning post on the first occasion had to be checked for some distance, when continuing to pull hard and contacted the sulky of JACKS UP.

JACKS UP – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations. Had to be checked rounding the home turn when racing behind DOUGS RULES which had galloped.

DOUGS RULES – Placed 4th. Driver B Hughes lodged a protest against KARALTA COURAGE being declared the 2nd placegetter alleging interference rounding the home turn. In dismissing the objection it was conceded for some distance inside the 250 metres DOUGS RULES raced in tight room inside KARALTA COURAGE and near the home turn both runners came together momentarily, however this could not be solely contributed to a shift inwards from KARALTA COURAGE and given the way both runners ran to the finish it was considered that had the incident not occurred KARALTA COURAGE would still have finished ahead of DOUGS RULES.

BETTOR KEEP ROCKING NZ – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 5 – SAUERS GLASS TAMWORTH PACE – 1980 metres

IDEAL HEAVEN – Slow to begin.
