WINDY HILL LUCY – Gave ground from the 400m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 24.5m after leading.

LEXYS LONGSTOCKINGS – Pre-race swab.

BETTORLIGHTEM UP – Pre-race swab & Post-race swab.

RACE 2 – CONFEDERATE STANDING AT COBBITTY EQUINE PACE –  2260 metres

ALFNALMA – Post-race swab.

SHAZADELE – Pre-race swab

ALWAYS THUNDER – ($4.80) Trainer/driver Seaton Grima was queried into the seemingly poor performance of the gelding which finished in 9th and last position beaten 60.2m after leading. Mr Grima advised the gelding to be disappointing and was at a loss to explain the performance as he was confident of a forward performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 1/5 lame in the off foreleg. ALWAYS THUNDER will now be stood down from racing pending a veterinary clearance & trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion.

DONTLETFEARSTOPYA NZ – ($11.00) Inconvenienced and race roughly momentarily passing the 500m when SHELL SHOCK NZ shifted ground. Driver Phoebe Betts was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 7th position beaten 21m. Ms Betts advised DONTLETFEARSTOPYA NZ provided to be disappointing as the gelding failed to travel sufficiently throughout the event when being under pressure with the consistent speed of the event.

GRAFFITI LANE – Broke gait during the early stages of the score up and was out of position when the start was effected. A warning was issued against the barrier manners of GRAFFITI LANE.

SHELL SHOCK NZ – Driver Nathan Turnbull was issued a reprimand for the manner he shifted ground when completing his move from the marker line to the running line which inconvenienced DONTLETFEARSTOPYA NZ passing the 500m. Driver Nathan Turnbull was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding in particular his decision to direct the gelding three (3) wide passing the 400m when immediately placed under pressure which allowed sufficient room for ALFNALMA to shift away from the marker line when commencing to be taken back through the field when ALWAYS THUNDER commence to give ground. Mr Turnbull explained after manoeuvring away from the marker peg line SHELL SHOCK NZ was travelling well within itself as the gelding was directed three (3) wide in attempt to improve forward to gain an advantage from DONTLETFEARSTOPYA NZ which was trailing him & ALFNALMA would not be able to have sufficient room to shift wider on the track when it was still racing along the marker line & to the inside of SWEET NATE however soon afterwards SHELL SHOCK NZ was placed under immediate pressure and unable to progress past SWEET NATE and failed to run on as expected & ALFNALMA was able to direct up the track simultaneously as CARBAGANOOSH which was improving to the inside of SHELL SHOCK NZ causing that runner to be slightly inconvenienced. Upon consideration of the tactics whilst holding concerns stewards advised Mr Turnbull, he had erred with his tactics adopted at that stage of the event in particular the manner how SHELL SHOCK NZ was performing where he could have maintained his position in following SWEET NATE and advised him not to drive in a manner which would see him open to questioning in particular surrounding the stable having dual runners in the event. No claims were lodged.

RACE 3 – WARRAWEE NEEDY STANDING AT YIRRIBEE PACE – 2260 metres

SHE THE DEVIL – Pre-race swab.

MAGIC TULHURST– Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having started in the preceding 12 months. Neither examination revealed any significant abnormalities.

NIKALONG MINT – Hung inwards entering the first turn.

SHEVCHENKO – Post-race swab.

DUFFY HOLLOW NZ – ($51.00) Broke gait during the early stages of the score up and was significantly out of position when the start was effected. DUFFY HOLLOW NZ will continue to be excluded from the barrier draw in future mobile start events. Driver Ella Turnbull was queried into the tactics adopted upon the gelding in particular her decision to improve quickly three (3) wide from passing the 850m prior to being placed under pressure and giving ground from the 500m to finish in 10th and last position beaten 43m. Ms Turnbull advised after missing the start the gelding was able to rejoin the main body of the field passing the 1900m under its own accord when racing six (6) back the marker line until approaching the 1300m. Ms Turnbull added DUFFY HOLLOW NZ pulled extremely hard despite her efforts once rejoining the field passing the 1900m, Ms Turnbull explain due to the gelding racing manners in racing fiercely she manoeuvred gelding away from the marker line & into the running line passing the 1300m where the gelding continued to race fiercely and contact the sulky & helmet of the runner & driver in advance of her being HOOKED ON WINNING NZ (Jason Turnbull) Ms Turnbull explained for safety concerns that DUFFY HOLLOW NZ may choke down or make serious contact to the runner in advance therefore Ms Turnbull elected to direct the gelding three (3) wide and allowed the gelding to improve into the event at a steady rate passing the 850m however DUFFY HOLLOW NZ took further charge and improved quicker than anticipated despite her efforts prior to the gelding giving ground from the 500m. Upon consideration of the matter and viewing the available replays which confirmed the comments of Ms Turnbull Stewards placed a warning against the racing manners of DUFFY HOLLOW NZ. Trainer Nathan Turnbull advised he would attempt to engage a more senior driver upon the gelding going forward due to its racing manners displayed in this event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

HUNTER SHANNON – Post-race swab.

IM DESIRABLE – ($7.50) Driver Will Rixon was queried into the overall performance of the mare which finished in 9th and last position beaten 39.6m after racing in a favourable one-one position for majority of the event. Mr Rixon advised the mare to be disappointing and contributed the performance to the mare being urged forward during the early stages of the event to maintain its position in a quick first quarter. Mr Rixon added IM DESIRABLE may be better driven less aggressively during the early stages going forward. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

MARYWOOD LOU – ($15.00) Driver Bailey McDonough was queried into the overall performance of the gelding which finished in 8th position beaten 29m after leading. Mr Donough advised the attributed the performance to the gelding becoming agitated after the false start and racing keenly during the event in recording a quicker an anticipated first half which were main contributing factors to the gelding performance.

CRYSTAL BLING will now be placed on its last chance in the barrier draw & stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of stewards on one (1) occasion due to its poor racing manners when continually shifting outwards.

THE SAMURAI – Sulky contacted entering the first turn when CRYSTAL BLING hung outwards. Driver Nathan Turnbull was spoken to in the manner he applied the whip on one (1) occasion in the home straight & allowing his upper body to protrude outside the confines of the sulky inside the final 100m.

LOVE WATCH – Broke gait clear of interference entering the first turn prior to being checked when CRYSTAL BLING shifted outwards. LOVE WATCH will now be stood down from racing until trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards on one (1) occasion.
