Approaching the 400 metres when racing on the back of MEMPHIS FURY was hampered by FULLOFFIGHT NZ which was giving ground. Subsequently GOOD HEAVENS was held up for clear running and was unable to improve in the home straight. When questioned, Driver A Delosa explained that she had been instructed by Trainer D Binskin to drive the mare with cover and come with one run. A Delosa stated that after settling too far back in the running line she elected to shift in and improve her position to settle 5 back on the marker pegs. A Delosa said that GOOD HEAVENS did not travel well throughout and needed to be encouraged. A Delosa added that approaching the 400 metres she manoeuvred her runner wider to follow MEMPHIS FURY who appeared to be travelling well and then on straightening wasn’t able to continue to shift wider due to SLYX NZ having an advantage over her runner. Therefore, she shifted back down to follow MEMPHIS FURY again and although GOOD HEAVENS had limited racing room in the straight A Delosa said that the mare in her opinion was tested. A post-race veterinary examination revealed GOOD HEAVENS to be 2/5 lame in the off foreleg. Adopting the veterinary recommendations, GOOD HEAVENS was stood down from racing until a veterinary certificate of fitness is submitted.
