BELL RIVER BOY – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

TEDDY FEELS GOOD – Trainer Nathan Turnbull was questioned regarding the performance of the gelding which finished in 9th placing beaten 40 metres.  Mr Turnbull explained that he was of the view that the early use made of TEDDY FEELS GOOD to secure the lead may have been a contributing factor to the gelding giving ground over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination of TEDDY FEELS GOOD revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils and in accordance with the mandatory provisions of Rule 101(3)(b) TEDDY FEELS GOOD will now be stood down from racing for life as this was the gelding’s second bleeding attack.

THE HANDSOME ONE – Checked approaching the 400 metres when DUFFY HOLLOW NZ broke gait.

DUFFY HOLLOW NZ – Paced roughly passing the 700 metres and a warning was issued.  Checked and broke gait approaching the 400 metres after jostling with WESTERN BILL where shortly after DUFFY HOLLOW NZ shifted out further as BELL RIVER BOY shifted out marginally resulting in DUFFY HOLLOW NZ making contact with the sulky of WESTERN BILL.  Re-included in the mobile barrier draw.

RACE 2 – WORKLOCKER STAIN & NATHAN TOWNSEND PACE – 2040 metres

WINDY HILL WHISKEY – Post-race swab sample.

STUDLEIGH SUNRISE – Hung in under pressure inside the final 150 metres.

ULTIMATE COOKIE – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

ROCKET ME – Inconvenienced shortly after passing the 1600 metres when the pace of the event eased and made contact with the sulky wheel of HUDSON RIVER resulting in that runner carrying a flat tyre thereafter.  Tired over the concluding stages to be beaten in excess of 48 metres.  It was noted driver Darryl Davis momentarily dropped his right foot shortly after passing the 200 metres.

BAM BAM BROOK – Finished in 8th placing beaten 30 metres.  Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant findings.  Given the beaten margin of 30 metres a warning was issued.

HUDSON RIVER – Pre-race blood sample.  Sustained a flat tyre at the 1500 metres which placed the gelding at some disadvantage thereafter.

DEAD EYE TIKI – Post-race swab sample.

MAJOR ARK – Pre-race blood sample.  Paced roughly passing the 700 metres.  Driver Blake Medlyn was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which finished in 9th and second last placing beaten 54 metres.  Mr Medlyn explained that in his view the mare was somewhat disappointing inside the final 200 metres, however he felt the relatively fast mile rate of 1:57:1 seconds was a significant contributing factor.  A post-race veterinary examination of MAJOR ARK failed to reveal any significant findings.  Presented on course in accordance with the HRNSW Elevated TCO2 Policy.

RACE 6 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1660 metres

General - The start of this event was delayed in relation to MISS ARDLETHAN contacting the barrier arm shortly prior to the start resulting in the mare pacing roughly and whether this had any material impact on the chances of STUDLEIGH STARLITE which was drawn behind.  After taking evidence from driver Jake Davis (STUDLEIGH STARLITE) it was established that any impediment to STUDLEIGH STARLITE was minimal and occurred immediately after the start and accordingly STUDLEIGH STARLITE was declared a runner and all clear was given on the judge’s numbers.

LETSGO MATILDA – Driver Charli Masotti was questioned regarding the reasons for LETSGO MATILDA improving to the inside of MISS ARDLETHAN approaching the 200 metres resulting in LETSGO MATILDA making contact with maker pegs.  Ms Masotti explained the mare was over racing throughout the event and shortly after passing the 200 metres MISS ARDLETHAN, which was leading the event, shifted out slightly and as a consequence LETSGO MATILDA improved to its inside despite her efforts.  Ms Masotti added that she then restrained LETSGO MATILDA to again follow MISS ARDLETHAN and then ultimately secured clear running to its outside.  Ms Masotti was advised to exercise greater care in future and that if a horse is over racing it would not be expected she activate gear whilst having some difficulty in restraining her runner.

MISS ARDLETHAN – Contacted the mobile barrier arm and paced roughly immediately prior to the start being effected. A warning was subsequently placed on the record of MISS ARDLETHAN.  Driver Trent Pilon was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) in that inside the final 150 metres he applied the whip with more than a wrist only flicking motion.  Mr Pilon was further reprimanded under Rule 170(1)(a) for inadvertently allowing his right foot to drop from the footrest passing the 50 metres.

CARIBBEAN PAT – Over raced during the early stages.

SHEZ A PUNTER – Pre-race blood sample.

STUDLEIGH STARLITE – Inconveneinced in the latter stages of the score up and broke shortly after the start was effected.  Broke clear of interference passing the 500 metres and a warning was issued.

RACE 9 – PARKES FARM CENTRE PACE – 2040 metres

AMERICAM – Held up rounding the home turn in the early part of the straight.  Driver Jason Turnbull was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that passing the 400 metres he permitted AMERICAM to shift out momentarily tightening CAM I AM.  Mr Turnbull was further reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 300 metres he permitted AMERICAM to shift out resulting in TIGER TOOTH being checked and pacing roughly.  In not taking more severe action against Mr Turnbull with respect to this incident they were mindful he had taken some action to prevent the ultimate interference.

ESPERANZA – Over raced during the early stages.

TIGER TOOTH – Inconvenienced approaching the 1800 metres when the pace of the event eased.  Over raced during the early stages.  Checked and paced roughly approaching the 300 metres when AMERICAM shifted out.

MAKES YOU WONDER – Driver Jett Turnbull was questioned regarding the performance of the colt which finished in 9th placing beaten 58 metres.  Mr Turnbull explained he was slightly disappointed with the performance of MAKES YOU WONDER, however the colt was inconvenienced rounding the final turn and was obliged to improve four wide which he felt made it increasingly difficult for MAKES YOU WONDER to make ground over the concluding stages.
