RACE 1 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

FRANKIROMAR – Post-race sample was taken.

CALA SERENA – Had a tendency to race roughly particularly on the turns during the event and shifted out passing the 800 metres and as a result was obliged to race three wide for the remainder of the event.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance to race truly.

MYSTICAL SUNSHINE – Broke stride passing the 800 metres.  Connections were advised given its poor record that it would be stood down for a period of 14 days in addition to the completion of two requalifying trials. 

LITTLE FRENCHIE – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn and hung out prior to the field entering the home straight on the first occasion.

COOINDALAI – Checked as the field passed the 800 metres. 

PENURIOUS – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event and worked forward and was caught racing three wide for the remainder.  When questioned driver M Brooks explained to Stewards that after being caught wide in the early stages of the event noticed the runner outside of the leader CALA SERENA racing quite roughly and elected to move forward in an attempt to find that position however when runners straightened down the home straight on the first occasion was left racing three wide.  He further added that when passing the 800 metres CARLA SERENA again raced roughly and shifted which provided cover for the remainder of the event.  Stewards noted his comments.

RESERVE BANK NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to hang in rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs.

 

RACE 2 – BONVILLA ESTATE WINES MAIDEN PACE – 1609 metres

SCATTERSHOT – Pre-race sample was taken.  Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  When questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance driver G Panella explained that the intentions were to be forward in the event when entering the first turn after making some use of her drive to find the position outside of the leader elected to push forward in an attempt to find the lead however was unsuccessful with DEPASSANT maintaining the position along the marker pegs as a result was left racing without cover also having a tendency to over race for the remainder and weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.  Had a tendency to hang in throughout various stages of the event however most severe when rounding the final turn.  A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.  Connections were advised it would be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.

AIDEN JAMES – Post-race sample was taken.

TOKOLOSHE – Upon request from connections approval was given it to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – NORRIS HAIR & BEAUTY NEWCASTLE 2YO PACE – 1609 metres

LINE OF COURAGE – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

MEADOW DANCE – Hampered coming to the 1000 metres.

RAINBOW KID – Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to race greenly coming to the 1000 metres.

CYCLONE DAISY – Checked coming to the 1000 metres.

MIRA DOMINA – Had a tendency to hang out during the latter stages of the score up and broke stride checking the running of ONEDINS CRUSADE resulting in a false start being declared.  Connections were advised that it will continue to be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.  Post-race sample was taken.

MODERN MISCHIEF – Checked and broke stride coming to the 1000 metres.

 

RACE 4 – COCA COLA PACE – 1609 metres

ULTIMATE EMPIRE – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

MISTER CHEESE – Pre-race sample was taken.

NEXT TO ME – Post-race sample was taken.

STEALTH BOMBA NZ – Held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.

WALLAROY BOY – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

 

RACE 5 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

NEED FOR SPEED – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up checking the running of BETTATHANMOZARELLA resulting in a false start being declared.  A warning was issued.

APEX STRIDE – Pre-race sample was taken. 

BEACHBABE CROCKER – Had a tendency to hang out shortly after the start was affected.  Post-race sample was taken.

TOW CRACKED CORN – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

NOWORRIES – When trailing the field broke its number one carrying strap on the off side and as a result blundered, turned the off side knee boot and shortly thereafter was retired from the event.  No direct action was taken with the gear being inspected and found to be suitable quality.

 

RACE 6 – GARRARDS HORS AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

LOUIE DADA – Pre-race sample was taken. 

WAR WESTERN – Driver B Elder was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when racing down the home straight on the final occasion permitted his runner to shift wider on the track without the required clearance over ABSTRACT ART and as a result that runner was hampered after being placed in restricted room.  Post-race sample was taken.

SPUNKYS GOTSECRETS – Out of position as the start was affected.  Driver B Hughes explained that during the middle stages of the score up BETTOR IDEA had shifted down the track with WAR WESTERN shifting up the track slightly providing difficulty in him filling his position prior to the start being affected.  No action was taken.

BETTOR IDEA – Trailed the field with a lap remaining to finish well back.  Trainer B Miles explained to Stewards that he would now consider its racing future and speak with connections.  Connections were further advised that it would be stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

ULTIMATE RHAPSODY – Upon request from connections approval was given it to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 7 – AVE TECHNOLOGIES PACE – 2030 metres

SPIRIT KING – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

PEPPA BLISS – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

ERROL FIN – Had a tendency to hang out whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.

HEZA PLAYER NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2030 metres

VINCENTIUS MAXIMUS – placed in restricted room entering the first turn and contacted marker pegs and raced roughly for a short distance.

DUKES CHOICE –  Driver S Piltz was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the first turn had closed down the track and restricted the room of VINCENTIUS MAXIMUS whereas a result contacted marker pegs and raced roughly for a short distance. In not taking more severe actions stewards were mindful that VINCENTIUS MAXIMUS was able to maintain its position in the lead.

QUADDIE VC NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

LACEYS LAD NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and was not fully tested.
