RACE 1 – BARASTOC PACE – 1609 metres

MY FRIEND MOLLY – Tightened for racing room inside the final 50 metres.

BETTOR BE LUCKY – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Post-race sample was taken.

NOWORRIES – Had a tendency to hang in whilst under pressure over the concluding stages and restricted the racing room of MY FRIEND MOLLY.

VALIENT CHARGER – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 2 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

THE MALDIVES – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with post-race revealed it to be lame in the near side hind leg.  Acting on veterinary advice was stood down pending a veterinary certificate of fitness in addition to seven days away from racing.  Post-race sample was taken.  

SPEARHEAD – Driver C Formosa pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when leaving the back straight closed down the track without the required clearance over GUNFIGHTERSGHOST whereas a result that runner was placed in restricted racing room and obliged to be checked and shortly thereafter broke stride.  Driver C Formosa’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account her guilty plea in addition to her driving record in relation to interference.

MERSADIES – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Entering the first turn was placed in restricted racing room as a result of THE MALDIVES having to be steadied away back into a running line position with GUNFIGHTERSGHOST progressing along the marker pegs whereas a result MERSADIES was ultimately checked with SPECIALIZE LOU racing to its outside.  Stewards could not place blame on any driver or horse and reported the incident.

ARMA THE GREAT – Checked as the field negotiated the final turn.

TACKAS PRINCESS – Checked and raced roughly as the field negotiated the first turn.

DOUBLE LINES – Pre-race sample was taken.  Checked and raced roughly as the field negotiated the first turn.

GUNFIGHTERSGHOST – Driver B Elder was fined the sum of $100 under rule 163(1)(c)(ii) in that when racing down the back straight on the final occasion permitted his runner to shift down the track and contacted one marker post.  In not taking more severe action Stewards were mindful that clear running had presented to the inside of BREXITT racing down the back straight on the final occasion by way of that runner hanging out. Checked and broke stride leaving the back straight on the final occasion.

 

RACE 3 – GLOBAL BRANDS LIQUOR PACE – 1609 metres

BE GOOD BENNY – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

KIARAS EPONA – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

BARRYS ROSE – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event whilst leading.

SIYA NZ – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

GHOSTLY COURAGE – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

 

RACE 4 – SOMERSET MEATS PACE – 1609 metres

A VAPAR STORM – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up and checked the running of WATSLUVGOTTADO resulting in a false start being declared.  A warning was issued.  Post-race sample was taken.

MAYWYN BONTON BOY – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

STICK MAN NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. 

 

RACE 5 – GARRARDS HORS AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS – Pre-race sample was taken.  Driver V Duncan was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when racing down the home straight after shifting away from a marker peg position shortly thereafter shifted back down the track and restricted the racing room of SWEET ROCKY which progressed to its inside.

WEONA SIR VIVOR – Post-race sample was taken.

BROOKLYN RAINBOW – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance.

SWEET ROCKY – Had a tendency to over race in the early stages of the event.  Tightened for racing room coming to the 1100 metres and obliged to restrain back into a marker peg position trailing AGIFTFROMTHEANGELS.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 6 – SHARP OFFICE PACE – 1609 metres

WILLS WAY – Pre-race sample was taken. 

NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

CONOR MCGREGOR NZ – Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed it to be lame in the off side fore leg.  Acting on veterinary advice was stood down pending a veterinary certificate of fitness.  Stewards also advised connections the it would be stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

ILLAWONG DANNY – Post-race sample was taken.

LITTLE FRENCHIE – Had a tendency to hang out during the middle stages of the score up and momentarily locked wheels with SZWANEN.

SZWANEN – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Hampered in the latter stages of the score up and locked wheels with LITTLE FRENCHIE which hung out slightly.  Weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.  Connections were advised it would be stood down until it can requalify on one occasion.  Upon request from connections approval was given it to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 7 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres

LILS NIGHTMARE NZ – Had a tendency to race roughly as the field negotiated the final turn.

YESNOMAYBESO – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

ONETANGI GIRL NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.

MCCRIKEY NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

SHADES OF HEAVEN – Out of position as the start was affected despite the best efforts from its driver.  A warning was issued.

GISSELLE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.
