RACE 1 – CARNIVAL OF CUPS NEWCASTLE 5TH DEC PACE – 1609 metres

PEPPA BLISS – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up. Connections were advised it will now be excluded from the mobile draw.

WALLAROY BOY – Examined pr and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

DOUGS RULES – When questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance, Driver T Ison explained to Stewards that after find position was happy to hold JOANS RISING STAR NZ racing to its outside as he was confident in his runner’s abilities on exposed form. He further added after the fast first quarter he expected the tempo to ease however the tempo continued to be genuine throughout. He further added given the sectionals recorded was not overly disappointed in his runner’s performance. Stewards noted his comments

JOANS RISING STAR NZ – Post-race swab sample. Stewards also ordered a delayed post-race blood sample be obtained.

CHLOBRO – Prior to the declaration of all clear Stewards reviewed the start of the event with PEPPA BLISS breaking stride prior to the start being effected. As a result, CHLOBRO was checked and was not afforded a far start and ultimately was declared a non runner.

 

RACE 2 – SKY RACING ACTIVE PACE – 1609 metres

WAMBOYNE MACHETE – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

KEAYANG HARLOW – Gave ground over the concluding stages and was beaten some distance.

LACHIES GAMBLE – Had a tendency to hang out whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 3 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

ALWAYS THUNDER – When questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance, Driver A Delosa explained to Stewards that whilst leading the event had a tendency to over race in particular during the 3rd quarter and was left somewhat wanting over the concluding stages. A Delsoa further added the more she tried to take hold and ease however her runner  became agitated and wanted to over race. Stewards noted her comments.

BUSHY BEACH NZ – Had a tendency to hang in during the middle stages of the score up. Broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn. Continued to have a tendency to hang in throughout various stages of the event. A warning was issued.

CHEDDAR VALLEY NZ – Post-race swab sample.

MAMMALS RIDDLE – Driver K Hepworth was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after the start was effected, closed down the track and hampered the running of ULTIMATE DIVA.

FAYE IRENE – Pre-race blood sample. Had a tendency to race roughly as the field negotiated the final turn.

ULTIMATE DIVA – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn. Sustained a flat tyre through the run placing it at a disadvantage.

 

RACE 4 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – HUNTER HEAT – 2030 metres

SERGEI – When questioned regarding the performance, Trainer/Driver G Dorn explained to Stewards after making some use of the his drive in the early stages of the event, was able to find the lead position then had a tendency to hang out racing down the back straight and ultimately in his opinion was disappointing over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised a warning would be placed against the performance.

HE SAID SHE SAID – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

VINCENTIUS MAXIMUS – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

MAJOR REASON – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – HUNTER HEAT – 2030 metres

YESNOMAYBESO – Slow away as the start was effected and gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities. Driver A Garaty explained the connections would have the intention to have a slight freshen up prior to racing again. Connections were advised it would be stood down for a period of 14 days prior to racing again.

SENSATIONALIZE – When questioned regarding the performance, Driver R Morris explained to Stewards that after finding a position forward in the field with cover, failed to travel given the genuine tempo throughout and weakened over the concluding stage to be beaten some distance. A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.

ROCK FISHERMAN – When queried regarding the tactics and overall performance Trainer/Driver M Formosa explained to stewards that after finding a forward position in the field racing outside of the leader (GROSSO NASO) he explained that runner was racing on a loose rein throughout the event and elected to race at the girth throughout and did not apply any additional pressure. He further added given the tempo of the event his runner weakened over the concluding stages. Stewards noted his comments.

KISSMELVIS – Hampered as the field negotiated the final turn when trailing weakening runners.

SALLY BIGTIME – Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 6 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – HUNTER HEAT – 2030 metres

ROCKTAGONAL – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

WALTER WARLOCK – Pre-race blood sample. Hampered when placed in restricted room as the field negotiated the first turn.

PRINCESS MICKAYLA – Driver B Hughes was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when negotiating the first turn closed down the track and placed WALTER WARLOCK in restricted room and as a result was hampered. Post-race swab sample.

FRANKIROMAR – Had a tendency to race roughly shortly after the start was effected and broke stride racing down the back straight on the final occasion, a warning was issued.

 

RACE 7 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS – HUNTER HEAT – 2030 metres

Prior to the declaration of all clear, Stewards gave consideration to a protest lodged by Driver T Ison (HEZA DOOZIE), 6th past the post against ALWAYS BE CHAPS (Mitch Chapple) 1st past the post alleging interference over the concluding stages. Upon review and taking submissions from all parties, Stewards determined that shortly after runners entered the home straight for the run to the finish, ALWAYS BE CHAPS shifted up the track slightly however no full run was available for HEZA DOOZIE to the inside to progress through at that stage. As such Stewards could not alter the placings and the protest was dismissed.

ALWAYS BE CHAPS – Driver M Chapple was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after entering the home straight when correcting his runner down the track, checked the running of HEZA DOOZIE whereas a result contacted marker pegs. Post-race swab sample.

MISTER BRILLIANTE – Broke stride as the field negotiated the final turn. A warning was issued.

THE CID – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.

ALLSOPP – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres

 

 General  

Robert Morris (LUKE JOHN NZ), Zara Fitzpatrick (SAINT CRUSADER), Tom Ison (METALLICA MAN),  Ashleigh Delosa (FORCE FULL) and Cameron Hart (LACEYS LAD) were all reprimanded under Rule 52(5) for failing to weigh in following the event.
