RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1980 metres
MONTANA NIGHTS – Sustained a flat off-side sulky tyre racing into the back straight on the final occasion from KARALTA COURAGE, which was trailing and shifted into a three wide position.
UNCLE GREGORY – Caught racing wide during the early stages and restrained to the rear of the field. Tired to beaten 67m with a post-race veterinary examination revealing the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Acting upon veterinary advice UNCLE GREGORY was stood down until the completion of a satisfactory veterinary clearance. Connections were also advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards on one occasion prior to racing again.
MAJOR MICKEY – Pre-race sample. Post-race sample. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a minor cough, however no further action was required.
KARALTA COURAGE – Driver T Ison pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving. In that racing into the back straight on the final occasion when directing his runner into a three wide position off the back of MONTANA NIGHTS, he allowed his drive to contact the outside sulky wheel of that runner and MONTANA NIGHTS completing the course with a flat off-side sulky tyre. Mr Ison was fined $200.
BE GOOD BENNY – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having in excess of 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities. Inconvenienced behind MONTANA NIGHTS when that runner was commencing to give ground racing down the back straight on the final occasion.
RACE 2 – TICKETS 23RD JANUARY @ OZTIX.COM PACE – 1980 metres
OUR ULTIMATE MAY – Pre-race sample.
TRUTHBETOLD – Inconvenienced leaving the 400m when SKYWARD SHUFFLE shifted wider on the track.
SKYWARD SHUFFLE – Hung in leaving the 400m and shifted wider on the track, inconveniencing TRUTHBETOLD.
RAINBOW KID – Momentarily shifted into a three wide position racing towards the 800m, before being directed back into a two-wide position.
ALTIANO – Post-race sample.
RIPPIN AN TWISTIN – Galloped clear of interference racing towards the 1600m. In assessing the previous racing history of RIPPIN AN TWISTIN, connections were advised that the gelding would be stood down until the completion of one satisfactory trial.
RACE 3 – LOUNGES PLUS – BLACK FRIDAY SALE PACE – 1980 metres
BRING YOUR BEST – Post-race sample.
ARTFUL PRINCE – Pre-race sample.
IAMNOPET – Galloped in the score up and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding suffered a catastrophic injury to the near hind pastern. Acting upon veterinary advice IAMNOPET was humanely euthanised.
SPARKLING SUE – Refused to score up in the initial stages however gained its barrier position at the start. A warning was issued against the barrier manners of SPARKLING SUE. Hung in and contacted marker pegs in the vicinity of the 200m. Driver T Ison pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 156(2)(a) in that during the initial stages of the score up he applied the whip to SPARKLING SUE with an action free of the rein on three occasions and also in an action that was more than a wrist only action. In assessing the previous record of Mr Ison and that this was his second offence within sixty days and sixty drives a second-tier penalty of $400 was imposed.
RACE 4 – BELL PARTNERS – FINANCIAL ADVICE PACE – 1980 metres
DRAKAINA – Hung in racing into the first turn when being corrected by Driver M Ison. Driver M Ison was issued with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for initially tightening the racing room of EYES BEEN PATIENT racing into the first turn. In taking this action the panel was mindful that Miss Ison did attempt to relieve the pressure to EYES BEEN PATIENT, however DRAKAINA continued to shift down the track. EYES BEEN PATIENT when placed in restricted racing room galloped as a result.
ALWAYS PROMISE ME – Galloped out and a warning was issued. Galloped clear of interference leaving the back straight on the final occasion and a warning was issued.
JOE BY THE SEASIDE – Post-race sample.
EYES BEEN PATIENT – Tightened for racing room rounding the first turn and galloped, when DRAKAINA, hung in after being corrected by its driver.
RACE 5 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1980 metres
WATCH YOUR BACK NZ – Pre-race sample. Post-race sample.
SPOOKY ART – Leaving the back straight on the final occasion commenced to hang in and contacted marker pegs. As a result, Driver P Grima momentarily dropped his left foot from the sulky footrest.
WAITPINGA REACTOR – Over-raced during the early and middle stages of the event when racing in a running line position. Driver B Loades explained that he directed WAITPINGA REACTOR wider leaving the winning post with one lap to travel due to the racing manners of the gelding. Mr Loades advised that once placed into clear running the gelding failed to muster the necessary speed to improve after over-racing during the early and middle stages of the event. Mr Loades advised that he would attempt to make the appropriate gear changes to rectify the racing manners of the gelding. Stewards advised Mr Loades in assessing the previous racing record of WAITPINGA REACTOR, shall it continue to persist with the current racing manners being shown further embargos may be issued against the gelding.
SHEZZA BEAUTY – Galloped clear of interference leaving the back straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued against the racing manners of the mare.
CORAL CAYS – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.
RACE 6 – BREWFEST @ SCULLY PARK THIS SATURDAY PACE– 1690 metres
TRALEE SNICKAS – Post-race sample.
BEERSINMYPOCKET – Over-raced during the early stages.
RIPPIN RUPERT – Hung out in the latter stages of the score up and paced roughly. BRAVE BONDI, which was drawn wider was inconvenienced. Hung in shortly after the start and approaching the first turn.
BRAVE BONDI – Inconvenienced in the latter stages of score up when RIPPIN RUPERT hung out.
BETTOR CHEER NZ – Galloped in the score up, however regained its barrier position and a warning was issued.
GROSESTAR – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having in excess of 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities.
YOU CANNOT HIDE – Galloped in the early stages of the score up and will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 7 – STAN ALLAN 4 YEAR MEMORIAL – 1980 metres
NEXT TO ME NZ – Galloped clear of interference leaving the back straight on the first occasion. A warning was issued against the racing manners of the gelding.
SUPERBON – Hung in rounding the final turn resulting in the near-side sulky tyre being contacted by NIGHT TO REMEMBER. This resulted in SUPERBON carrying a flat tyre for the final 200m.
ESCALERA NZ – No claims were lodged.
NIGHT TO REMEMBER – Pre-race sample. Held up for clear racing room rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Tightened for racing room during this section due to SUPERBON shifting in. As a result, NIGHT TO REMEMBER contacted the near side sulky tyre of SUPERBON.

CUT GLASS – Re-included back in the mobile barrier draw. Over-raced during the early and middle stages.
RACE 8 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres
DOUGS RULES – Post-race sample.
GIRLSGOTCURLS – Trainer B Loades was reprimanded under Rule 44(1) for the late arrival on-course of this runner.
RACE 9 – ARTHUR YATES – NEW LIFE MEMBER PACE – 1980 metres
MCCRIKEY NZ – ($11/10th position/beaten 47m) Shifted out racing down the back straight on the final occasion allowing an inside run for ROCK FISHERMAN. Driver J Coney explained that MCCRIKEY NZ was disadvantage by a quicker than normal lead time and the first two quarters being run in 29.9 and 29 seconds. Miss Coney added that MCCRICKEY NZ was up in class and would expect a more competitive performance when placed back in class and able to gain more favourable quarters.
PURE DRAGON – Pre-race sample. ($11/ 8th position/ beaten 25m) Driver C Griffiths explained that PURE DRAGON performs better when racing over shorter distances and was not favoured by the quicker first two quarters (29.9 and 29 seconds). Mr Griffiths stated that he expected PURE DRAGON to perform better when racing over the shorter distance and in a lesser class race in future race starts.
THREE RIVERS NZ – Inconvenienced behind FAST TRACKER when that runner commenced to give ground leaving the winning post with one lap to travel.
CARRAMAR OLAM – Post-race sample.
ROCK FISHERMAN – Underwent pre and post-race veterinary examinations due to the gelding having in excess of 200 race starts. Neither examination revealed any abnormalities.
