RACE 1 – SWSBANK PACE – 2100 metres

OTTOS WEALTH – Trainer/driver J Painting stated that carrying a flat tyre for the final 800 metres and racing outside the leader contributed to the gelding’s poor performance which failed to run on over the final 500 metres to finish in ninth position beaten 48.9 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ELITE GEORGE – Pre-race blood.  Driver J Turnbull could give no reasonable explanation for the gelding failing to run on over the final 400 metres to finish in 10th and last position. 

MAN MOUNTAIN – Post-race sample.

UNCLE JAY – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding is 13 years of age and has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Checked between the 500 and 300 metres when trailing OTTOS WEALTH who was yielding ground. 

MARVELLA – Checked between the 500 and 300 metres when trailing ELITE GEORGE who was yielding ground.

 

RACE 2 – AUSTRALIAN HOTEL PACE – 1720 metres

CARMEN ON BLING – At the request of connections a pre-race warm up was approved. 

THATS THE ATTITUDE – Pre-race blood. 

SHE WHO DARES – Over raced whilst leading the event.  Post-race sample.

KING BOBBIE – Driver E Turnbull was cautioned on her whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.

TEARIN UP THE SAND – Approaching the 1000 metres was inconvenienced when improving onto the back of WESTERN BILL and as a result raced three wide for the remainder of the event.

SHEZA BETTOR GEM – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

ORAMA – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. 

 

RACE 3 – SOUTHWEST TRACTORS PACE – 1720 metres

LUCKY ZARA – Post-race sample.

RETURN SERVE – Pre-race blood. 

 

RACE 4 – T & D PRODUCE PACE – 1720 metres

DANCE BABY DANCE – Driver J Painting was reminded of his obligations to continue to fully test his horses to the finish line while in contention.

KEAYANG JIGSAW – Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position.  A warning was issued. 

DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL – Driver T Osmond was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shifting her runner down the track when insufficiently clear of DUN SPRUKIN and as a result that runner has made contact to her inside sulky wheel and sustained a flat tyre.  In not taking further action against Ms Osmund’s licence, the racing manners of DUN SPRUKIN was taken into consideration.

POSH FELLA NZ – Post-race sample.

DUN SPRUKIN – When negotiating the first turn hung out slightly contacting the sulky wheel of DORRISTOPAYTHEBILL and broke stride when that runner shifted down the track when insufficiently clear.

NO ALIBI NZ – The all clear was delayed to ascertain if the gelding had been afforded a fair start after being inconvenienced in the middle stages of the score up and being out of position as a result of KEAYANG JIGSAW breaking stride.  After taking evidence from driver J Locke and viewing the available footage Stewards concluded that NO ALIBI NZ was initially out of position prior to being inconvenienced in the latter stages of the score up and furthermore believed that the gelding had to opportunity to settle in the best possible position and as a result the all clear was declared on the judge’s numbers of 7, 2, 7 and 1.  Approaching the 1000 metres when racing three wide became unbalanced and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

VAMOS – Pre-race blood. 

 

RACE 5 – POPPA’S FUDGE FACTORY PACE – 2100 metres

FLOYDY BOY – Broke stride in the latter stages of the score up causing a false start.  Considering the gelding’s recent record it will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

ILLUSTRATION – Leaving the 1800 metres when surrendering the lead raced roughly for a short distance.  A warning was issued.

RIP ROCK – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

ROCKET ME – Pre-race blood. 

IMA BOXA – Post-race sample.

 

RACE 6 – ARMA INSURANCE BROKERS PACE – 1720 metres

SHEER VITALITY – Pre-race blood. 

HEZA VINCENT – Post-race sample.

ROYAL FOCUS – When negotiating the first turn when leading the event raced roughly for a short distance.  A warning was issued.  Held up for clear racing room until the final 150 metres.

DARKNDUSTY – Trainer L Primmer was issued a reprimand under rule 41(1) for presenting the mare to the stabling area five minutes past the prescribed time.

 

RACE 7 – MATES4HARNESS 2YO MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres

STRAWBERRY FLAME – When negotiating the first turn was checked and broke.  Leaving the 200 metres became unbalanced and broke stride.  As it was the filly’s first race start it was stood down for one requalifying trial. 

CAPTAIN COLBY – Pre-race blood.  When negotiating the first turn was checked and broke as a result of MAXX breaking stride.

MAXX – When negotiating the first turn broke stride shifting out causing interference to several runners.  A warning was placed on his racing manners.

FIVE OCLOCK WAVE – When negotiating the first turn was checked when shifting to the inside to avoid MAXX who had broke stride.  Post-race sample.

BIG FROST – Checked and broke when negotiating the first turn as a result of MAXX breaking stride.

MADDIE – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start.  As it was the filly’s first race start it will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. 

KEPT FOR A REASON – Checked and broke when negotiating the first turn as a result of MAXX breaking stride.

 

RACE 8 – DONGES IGA PACE – 1720 metres

ROCKNROLL GRACE – Pre-race blood. 

KYLEIGH – Post-race sample.

KAELEIGHS COMET – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

STARS ABROAD – Driver R Turner was fined the sum of $50 under rule 162(1)(h) for failing to bring his horse to the barrier arm prior to the start.

 

RACE 9 – RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS PACE – 1720 metres

PINK SCOOTER – Driver J Locke was fined the sum of $400 under rule 156(2)(a) in that applying his whip in the home straight on the final occasion has done so with more than a wrist only flicking motion.

CRACKER MISS – Driver B Micallef was fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(2)(a) in that applying his whip in the home straight on the final occasion has done so with more than a wrist only flicking motion.

BLUES TERROR – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has had over 200 race starts.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

BARKWAY THOMAS – On arrival on course the gelding was inspected by the on course veterinarian and revealed the gelding to be unsuitable to race being declared a late scratching at 7.26pm.  Connections were advised the gelding would be stood down for a period of 10 days and must also submit a veterinary clearance prior to racing.
