SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

NEWCASTLE 16 DECEMBER 2025

Trainer Cameron Davies pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 90A(2.9)(a) for allowing an unlicensed person to carry out the duties of a stable hand.  Trainer C Davies was fined the sum of $250.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record in relation to the rule.

 

GENERAL

Trainer KerryAnn Morris pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 90A(2.9)(a) for allowing an unlicensed person to carry out the duties of a stable hand.  Trainer K Morris was fined the sum of $250.  When considering penalty Stewards took into account her guilty plea and record in relation to the rule.

 

 

RACE 1 – HUNTER DINGOS BASEBALL CLUB PACE – 1609 metres

JOANS RISING STAR NZ – Checked and broke stride shortly after the start was affected.  When questioned regarding the tactics adopted trainer/driver S Grima explained to Stewards that although being checked in the early stages of the event was able to settle relatively easily and did not lose touch with the field.  He further added that as the tempo eased elected to move three wide to the position outside the leader as at a recent run performed well when racing in the position outside of the leader in quick time.  He further added that he was somewhat disappointed in the performance.  Stewards noted his comments.

THE CREEK – Had a tendency to hang in shortly after the start was affected and checked the running of JOANS RISING STAR NZ which broke stride.  A warning was issued.

ULTIMATE CRUZA – Pre-race sample was taken.

BAT MATSON – Post-race sample was taken.

ROCKTAGONAL – Checked shortly after the start was affected.  Successfully claimed.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 2 – LOADRAIL PACE – 2030 metres

ROYAL GAMBLE NZ – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

WAR WESTERN – Post-race sample was taken.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER – Pre-race sample was taken. 

MISTER JONES NZ – Had a tendency to hang in throughout various stages of the event.  A warning was issued.

GROSESTAR – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

MAJOR MICKEY – held p for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

 

RACE 3 – KURRI RURAL & PET PRODUCE PACE – 2030 metres

WAMBOYNE MACHETE – Post-race sample was taken.

NEXT TO ME NZ – Broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn.  Given its recent record connections were advised it would be stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

OLEG – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

 

RACE 4 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

COOL NIGHT – Post-race sample was taken.

ALWAYS THUNDER – Pre-race sample was taken. 

HEZA PLAYER NZ – Had a tendency to hang in rounding the first turn and contacted marker pegs.

 

RACE 5 – SOMERSET MEATS PACE – 1609 metres

BUSHY BEACH NZ – Pre-race sample was taken. 

ROUGE BLING – When giving ground rounding the final turn sustained contact to the near side sulky wheel and as a result sustained a puncture.

ILLAWONG DANNY – Post-race sample was taken.

JALANEEL – Checked and raced roughly as the field negotiated the final turn when racing up onto the back of ROUGE BLING which was giving ground.

 

RACE 6 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

NEVER KNOW BLAZE – Shortly after entering the home straight was disappointed for a run and obliged to shift back towards the inside.  Held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.

BRAVE BONDI – Upon request from connections approval was given it to be re-included into the mobile barrier draw.

IRE OF THE DRAGON – Pre-race sample was taken.

TIGERLICIOUS – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 7 – SHARP OFFICE PACE – 1609 metres

ELEGANT STRIDE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 8 – HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

ROCKINDOWNUNDER – Post-race sample was taken.

EYEKNOW – Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to hang in whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.  A warning was issued.

 

RACE 9 – THETAB APP PACE – 1609 metres

TAFL MOVE – Pre-race sample was taken.  Broke stride shortly after the start was affected and continued to gallop for a considerable distance.  Connections were advised that its manners around the start a warning would be issued in addition to the completion of one requalifying trial due to the distance in which it galloped.

BRING YOUR BEST – Post-race sample was taken.

STEALTH BOMBA NZ – Hampered shortly after the start was affected.
