RACE 1 – ALAN COLWELL MEMORIAL – 1730 metres

REGALITY – Over raced through the middle stages of the event.  A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  After considering the recent record of the mare, it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

WAT EVER YOU NEED – Pre-race blood sample.  Worked forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres.

JOANS RISING STAR NZ – Worked forward to the lead approaching the 1300 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

LUCKY PUNT – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

RACE 2 – VALE COLIN GLAZEBROOK – 1730 metres

RIKIBREAL – Galloped out inconveniencing FIRESTORM RED.  After considering the recent record of the filly, it was placed outside the mobile barrier draw.  A post-race veterinary examination of the filly revealed it to be lame in the near side hind leg and acting on the recommendations of the veterinary surgeon was stood down for a period of seven days and the production of a veterinary certificate of clearance.

SOMETHING FOR LEXY – Pre-race blood sample.

GRAYSON RED – Post-race swab sample.

ALWAYS THUNDER – Over raced through the middle stages of the event.  Back in the mobile barrier draw.

FIRESTORM RED – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts.  The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Inconvenienced after the start when RIKIBREAL galloped out.

RACE 3 – RAY & OLIVE MCCARTHY MEMORIAL – 2260 metres

WORKS FOR ME NZ – Hung in after the start.  A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ERUPT STRIDE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

BAXTER RED – Driver Blake Medlyn pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving, in that approaching the 300 metres he permitted BAXTER RED to improve onto the back of WORKS FOR ME NZ and failed to take sufficient restraint to prevent the gelding from contacting the off side sulky wheel of that runner and breaking stride.  After considering the recent record of Mr Medlyn, his licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days.

BUDDY BRILLIANCE – Improved three wide from the 1400 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

SAINT VERAN – Pre-race blood sample.

RACE 4 – LOMBO LA FE FE SPRINT – 1730 metres

BABY YOUR THE ONE – Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres.  Post-race swab sample.

THE LADY DIOR – Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1300 metres.

RACE 5 – SHIRLEY TURNBULL MEMORIAL – 2790 metres

BETTER SHUSH – Severely checked passing the 900 metres when HES CHIMING commenced to tire badly.  Tired over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Stewards questioned driver Jye Coney with regards to the performance of the gelding who advised the gelding was significantly out of grade.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

HES CHIMING – Stewards questioned driver John O’Shea with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired significantly over the final 1200 metres.  Mr O’Shea advised Stewards that he felt the gelding travelled well until the 1200 metres but failed to offer anything thereafter.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

I BREAK THE LINE – Pre-race blood sample.  Checked passing the 900 metres when HES CHIMING commenced to give ground.

DONEGAL LUTHER NZ – Post-race swab sample.

PETES SAID SO NZ – Examined prior to and following the running of this event as the gelding has competed in excess of 200 race starts.  The examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  Checked passing the 900 metres behind the tiring HES CHIMING.

JORGE STREET – Checked passing the 900 metres behind the tiring HES CHIMING.

CAPTAINS KNOCK – Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the lead passing the 2000 metres.

SWAYZEE – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 2200 metres.

RACE 6 – ROWLEYALLA SPRINT – 1730 metres

GLENEAGLE RULER – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the lead passing the 900 metres.  Placed in restricted room passing the 300 metres when DEMON BLUE NZ hung in causing GLENEAGLE RULER to contact the near side sulky wheel of DEMON BLUE NZ and race roughly.

CAPTAIN BART – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 900 metres. 

DEMON BLUE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 800 metres.  Hung in under pressure passing the 300 metres and placed GLENEAGLE RULER in restricted room causing that runner to make contact with the near side sulky wheel of DEMON BLUE NZ and race roughly for a short distance.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.  Post-race swab sample.

SWEETKINDOFMAGIC – Out of position at the start.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, it will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw.  Stewards questioned driver Nathan Turnbull with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired significantly over the concluding stages.  Mr Turnbull advised that in his view the gelding was very disappointing and would benefit with some time away from racing.  A post-race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.  After considering the recent record of the gelding, it was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.

RACE 7 – XXXX GOLD PACE – 1730 metres

LADY ROCKABELLUM – Gave ground over the final 400 metres.

SCRUFFY NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Post-race swab sample.

ROSIE ROMANCE – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the lead passing the 1200 metres.

RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1730 metres

WHITBYS DELIGHT NZ – Post-race swab sample.

ALLORNOTHINGLEVI – Connections reported to Stewards upon arrival that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its offside hind leg on the float.  A subsequent veterinary examination passed the horse fit to take its place in the event.  Worked forward to the lead passing the 1300 metres.  Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

INDASKY NZ – Pre-race blood sample.  Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before working forward to the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.  Over raced during the middle stages of the event.
