MAMMALS HEART – Driver B Medlyn was questioned on the tactics adopted, in particular holding a position outside the lead when challenged by LIVE VANCE in the early stages until giving ground over the concluding stages to finish in 6th position beaten 24.1 metres. Mr Medlyn stated it was his instructions to attempt to drive the mare in a positive manner, considering the first quarter being run in 27.8sec he may have erred in not obtaining cover from LIVE VANCE which contributed to the mare failing to run on when placed under pressure over the final 300 metres.

LIVE VANCE – Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the overall performance of the mare when racing three wide in the early stages was able to obtain cover until passing the 1300 metres, when placed under pressure over the final 400 metres failed to respond to finish in 9th and last position beaten 98.4 metres. He stated the instructions were to drive the mare in a positive manner and when leaving the barrier arm had a slight advantage over the runners to the inside, approaching the first turn the mare raced roughly for a short distance allowing runners to improve to her inside being caught wide. When unable to muster the required speed to obtain the position outside the lead he  elected to restrain and was able to find a position one out one back in the running line passing the 1300 metres. When placed under pressure over the concluding stages failed to run on and was disappointed in the overall performance. He further added from a similar barrier draw the mare may be better suited to finding cover where similar circumstances  permit. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the mare will be required to requalify on one occasion.

SHEZA BETTOR GEM – Pre-race blood sample. Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres and when obtaining clear running raced roughly for a short distance.

MIDNIGHT CRIMES – Hung in under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion. A warning was issued.

RACE 2 – ZOO FM PACE – 1720 metres

MAJOR RECKONING – Driver E Turnbull raised her hand in the middle stages of the score up on the second occasion with a gear malfunction with the start being aborted.

REVEILLE JET – Approaching the 400 metres had a tendency to hang out contributing to RUSTY VEEJAY being tightened when racing between REVEILLE JET and ALTA DOWNS. A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners. Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

RUSTY VEEJAY – Leaving the 400 metres when racing between REVEILLE JET and ALTA DOWNS was placed in restricted racing room and as a result hung in contacting the sulky wheel of ALTA DOWNS and was checked and broke.

ALTA DOWNS – Driver J Dean was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 300 metres has provide insufficient effort from allowing the gelding to shift down the track when hanging in resulting in RUSTY VEEJAY being tightened, contacting the sulky wheel and breaking stride. In not taking further action the racing manners of ALTA DOWNS and REVEILLE JET were taken into consideration. A warning was also placed on the racing manners of ALTA DOWNS for hanging in.

WILLIEBILLIE – Pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding has not started since 19 September 2024. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

CLARENDEN VINTAGE – Pre-race blood sample. Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the reason he shifted from a running line position to behind the leader when leaving the 800 metres. He stated after the gelding had raced without cover throughout the event a position behind the leader became available and he believed an advantageous position for the gelding to follow ZOLTON who would take him into the race and  give his runner some respite. When placed under pressure over the final 300 metres the gelding had clear running to finish in its best possible position.
