RACE 1 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - WESTERN HEAT ONE – 2260 metres  

 

THE ROGUE I AM – Sulky wheel contacted by COLLECT A DIME approaching the 400 metres.

BABY YOUR THE ONE – Post-race swab sampled.

TERRYRAMA – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

SHAZADELE – Broke gait free of interference approaching the 1000 metres, for which a warning was issued.

POPS LEGACY – Inconvenienced near the 400 metres when COLLECT A DIME raced roughly.

FLIPTOP BOTTLESHOP – Checked from behind the tiring BARRY LIMBO leaving the 600 metres.

ART OF TERROR – Checked near the 400 metres when COLLECT A DIME raced roughly.

COLLECT A DIME – Out of position at the start, for which a warning was issued. Contacted the sulky wheel of THE ROGUE I AM approaching the 400 metres and raced roughly. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver E Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving, in that approaching the 400 metres she has made insufficient effort to prevent her runner from contacting the sulky wheel of THE ROGUE I AM and it has raced roughly as a result, subsequently ART OF TERROR and ZARAS SPECIAL were checked and  was inconvenienced. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account E Turnbull’s guilty plea, her good driving record, inexperience, and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver E Turnbull had her license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days.

BARRY LIMBO Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination, revealed the gelding to be mildly lame in the near fore leg. Connections were advised that they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for the gelding and it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial prior to its next race start.

SHE THE DEVIL – Pre-race swab sampled.

ZARAS SPECIAL – Out of position at the start, given the mare’s record, connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the draw. Checked near the 400 metres when COLLECT A DIME raced roughly.

 

RACE 2 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - WESTERN HEAT TWO – 2260 metres

 

TENMINUTES – Driver J Turnbull was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that he was disappointed with its run tonight and felt it had raced like it may have come to the end of its current preparation. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities, although it was reported that it had a slower than normal recovery.

BETTING RANGER – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Dropped its near-side knee boot during the race.

CHICAGO BART – Commenced to lose ground near the 600 metres and as a result a short distance later its sulky wheel was contacted by HAPPY REG where it sustained a flat tyre. Stable representative J Hewitt was queried regarding the performance, he stated that they were disappointed with its run tonight although added that the longer distance may not have suited it tonight. He added that they felt it carrying flat tyre from near the 600 metres resulted in it finishing further back than it would have without it. A post-race Veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.

HAPPY REG – Contacted the sulky wheel of CHICAGO BART leaving the 600 metres, when that runner commenced to lose ground.

SEASIDER – Post-race swab sampled.

OUR DANCE MONKEY – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

SWEET NATE – Pre-race swab sampled.

NOSAER – Galloped out as the start was effected for which a warning was issued. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

 

RACE 3 – TAB REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - WESTERN HEAT THREE – 2260 metres

 

ALWAYSBMINNIE – Driver J Reynolds momentarily dropped his feet from the footrests while driving the mare out near the 100 metres. Post-race swab sampled.

FLASH AZARAT – Pre-race swab sampled.

KICKATINALONGPONY – Made heavy contact to the sulky of the galloping JOE THE BOOKIE near the 400 metres and was checked and broke gait. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver M Atkinson pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 168(1)(a) for careless driving, in that near the 400 metres he has made insufficient effort to prevent his runner from contacting the sulky of JOE THE BOOKIE which was galloping and it was checked and broke gait. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account M Atkinson’s guilty plea, his good driving record, inexperience, and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver M Atkinson had his license to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days.

JOE THE BOOKIE – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it was having its first race start in over 12 months, and cleared to start. Broke gait free of interference near the 400 metres, for which a warning was issued, while galloping KICKATINALONGPONY made heavy contact to its sulky. A post-race Veterinary examination, revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg and have swelling to the fetlock of that leg due to a suspected tendon injury, for which it received pain relief treatment. Connections were advised that the gelding would be stood down for a period of 14 days and they would be required to provide a Veterinary certificate of fitness for it prior to its next race start.

FIRESTORM RED – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

 

RACE 4 – TOWN AND COUNTRY RURAL WARATAH HEAT – 1730 metres

 

BORROWED TIME – Shifted-in upon rounding the home turn just prior to entering the home straight, tightening ETERNAL GOLD, Driver J Turnbull was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Post-race swab sampled.

TULHURST TIMMY – Pre-race swab sampled.

ETERNAL GOLD – Tightened for room and inconvenienced just prior to entering the home straight when BORROWED TIME shifted-in.

SUNSET JAY JAY – Fractious at the commencement of the score-up and fell and the score-up was aborted, given the circumstances, connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the draw. Underwent a Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

 

RACE 5 – BATHURST RSL SOLDIERS SADDLE FINAL – 1730 metres

 

DEAR DARLING – Tired over the concluding stages and beaten by a considerable margin. Driver J Turnbull, when questioned regarding the performance, stated that he was very disappointed with it and was at a loss to explain it. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

BEANCOUNTER – Pre-race swab sampled. Driver V Duncan was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that they had to work a bit harder to get to the lead than the gelding was required to in its last start when it won and added that it commenced to race keenly down the back straight on the final occasion and he felt those factors had an impact on its ability to finish the race off strongly tonight.

THEYCALLMEBRUCE – Inconvenienced near the 100 metres when LUCKY PUNT broke gait.

TIME TO TORQUE – Inconvenienced near the 100 metres when LUCKY PUNT broke gait.

CARBAGANOOSH – Contacted the sulky wheel of LUCKY PUNT when that runner shifted out leaving the 600 metres and was inconvenienced. Post-race swab sampled.

LUCKY PUNT – Inconvenienced behind the tiring DEAR DARLING leaving the 600 metres, shifted out and as a result its sulky wheel was contacted by CARBAGANOOSH where it sustained a flat tyre. Held up for clear running in the home straight and broke gait near the 100 metres, for which a warning was issued.

 

RACE 6 – POSTER BOY AT LLOWALONG FARMS PACE – 1730 metres

 

PERFECT STRANGER NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

JORGE STREET – Driver J Turnbull was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding, he stated that he was a little disappointed with its run given its run at its previous start where it was successful at Menangle when racing outside the leader as it did tonight. He added that he had to work a bit harder to get to the position outside the leader than he would have liked, however it did that at its previous start, and was at a loss to explain tonight’s run.

CASSIUS DECK – Inconvenienced behind the tiring OUR GEORGE BOSTON leaving the 400 metres.

 

RACE 7 – CLUB MEMBERS BADGE DRAW PACE – 1730 metres

 

NAVIE JO Broke gait free of interference leaving the 1600 metres, given it was just the filly’s second race start connections were advised that it would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.

COULDNT CATCH HIM – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.

BABLING BABLING – Dropped its near-side shin and tendon boot shortly after the start.

 

RACE 8 – KING OF SWING AT COBBITTY PACE – 2260 metres

 

LAYLA SHANNON – Hung-out during the latter part of the score-up.

HOOKED ON WINNING NZ – Pre-race swab sampled. Broke gait during the score-up, given the gelding’s record, connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the draw. Post-race swab sampled.

CLASSIC ARC – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start.

THE HANDSOME ONE – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR – Examined by the Club Veterinarian prior to the race, as it has had over 200 race starts, and cleared to start. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.

 

RACE 9 – BLUEPRINT SIGNS PACE – 2260 metres

 

ROCKIN SWEET – Broke gait free of interference near the 1800 metres, for which a warning was issued. Inconvenienced approaching the 800 metres when GET UP BETTY broke gait.

ALWAYS LIGHTNING – Severely checked and broke gait approaching the 800 metres when GET UP BETTY broke gait.

BETTINGONYA – Pre-race swab sampled. Over-raced during the middle stages of the event.

LOVE WATCH – Inconvenienced approaching the 800 metres when GET UP BETTY broke gait. Driver J Dean was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight. Post-race swab sampled.

GET UP BETTY – Over-raced during the middle stages of the event. Broke gait approaching the 800 metres. A post-race Veterinary examination of the mare revealed her to be suffering from a poor post-race recovery. Driver J Turnbull reported that he believed the mare had choked down. Connections were advised the mare would be required to perform a re-qualifying trial.
