FOXFIRE EASTON NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
SURF ACE – Tightened passing the 1300 metres when MISTER JONES NZ shifted in.
LILS NIGHTMARE NZ – Paced roughly and lost ground briefly approaching the 1300 metres.
MISTER JONES NZ – Driver Joshua Gallagher was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding during the early stages and inside the final 400 metres. Mr Gallagher explained he directed MISTER JONES NZ in to obtain the position following FOXFIRE EASTON NZ approaching the 1300 metres after initially being unsuccessful in contesting the lead. Mr Gallagher added that when he commenced to steady MISTER JONES NZ to obtain the desired position he felt there was sufficient room to do so, however upon directing MISTER JONES NZ toward the marker pegs LILS NIGHTMARE NZ, who he was following, paced roughly and lost ground and commenced to be restrained by its driver and as a consequence MISTER JONES NZ was awkwardly placed to the inside of LILS NIGHTMARE NZ and to the outside of SURF ACE which had improved along the marker pegs. Mr Gallagher further added that as a result of LILS NIGHTMARE NZ continuing to be restrained he was obliged to continue to shift in and as a consequence SURF ACE, which was positioned to his inside slightly, was tightened. Mr Gallagher further added that upon straightening he directed MISTER JONES NZ out to obtain a run to the outside of the leader FOXFIRE EASTON NZ as he was mindful that runner had commenced to be placed under pressure, however FOXFIRE EASTON NZ improved the race off better than he expected and as a consequence of that runner shifting out under pressure it resulted in MISTER JONES NZ being held up inside the final 50 metres. Mr Gallagher explained he did not feel it impacted the overall finishing position of MISTER JONES NZ as he felt the gelding had been placed under pressure for a significant distance prior to being slightly held up. Upon consideration of the factors Stewards issued Mr Gallagher with a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 1300 metres he permitted MISTER JONES NZ to shift in tightening SURF ACE and in not taking more severe action against Mr Gallagher Stewards were mindful of the significant contribution to this incident by LILS NIGHTMARE NZ when that gelding paced roughly and commenced to be restrained by its driver. Stewards further determined that his tactics adopted inside the final 300 metres were not unreasonable and recorded his explanation.
WATCH ME REACT – Post-race swab sample.
OURSURFINSAFARI – Over raced during the middle stages. Held up inside the final 300 metres.
RACE 6 – MULTIQUIP AGGREGATES PACE – 1609 metres
SKY BLUE – Post-race swab sample.

RACE 7 – IRT HORSE TRANSPORT PACE – 1609 metres
GUARANTEED END – Driver Cameron Hart was questioned regarding the performance of the mare which finished in 7th placing beaten 13 metres ($1.90 fav). Mr Hart explained that GUARANTEED END did not travel as strongly as it did the week prior when successful after leading and added he felt the consistent pressure applied by DOUBLE FEAR to his outside may have also been a contributing factor. A post-race veterinary examination of GUARANTEED END failed to reveal any significant findings.
RUDY GEE – Pre-race blood sample. Trainer Luke McCarthy was fined the sum of $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare Jack Callaghan as the driver of the gelding by the prescribed time.
BRAVO STRIDE – Broke under pressure shortly after passing the 300 metres and a warning was issued.
