RACE 1 – BLAYNEY GOLF CLUB TREVOR JONES MEMORIAL – 2000 metres

TENEACHWAY – Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. The gelding will be given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw. Due to the ground lost while breaking stride took no competitive part in the race.

JACKYS HAT – Driver L Rusten was questioned on the perceived improved performance of the mare in today’s event. She stated from a favourable barrier draw and being advantageous leading around the Blayney track, being the main reasons for the improved performance. Trainer D Rusten also confirmed these reasons for the performance in today’s event. Post-race swab sample.

FLOYDY BOY – Broke stride approaching the 600 metres. Considering the gelding’s recent record, it will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

ULTIMATE COOKIE – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

STELLA MAY – Pre-race blood sample. Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was issued. Driver S Dowton was also questioned on the mare’s performance after it tired over the concluding stages to finish in 8th position beaten 90.2 metres. He stated he was disappointed in the mare’s overall performance but considered the longer distance may have been detrimental to her overall performance. Considering the amount of ground the mare lost when breaking stride in the score up, a warning was placed on her overall performance.

 

RACE 2 – ROYAL HOTEL / BLAYNEY CONCRETE PACE – 2000 metres

NEVERTOOLATE – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.

MIA ON – Pre-race blood sample. Inconvenienced at the 1400 metres when trailing SWEET SWEET TOOTH who had broke stride.

SWEET SWEET TOOTH – Approaching the 1400 metres became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

ALWAYS LIGHTNING – Post-race swab sample.

General – Following All clear being declared on the numbers 8-5-1-3, stewards were alerted to a possible problem with the alignment of the photo finish camera print used in the determination of the placings. Subsequently evidence was taken from the connections of NEVERTOOLATE(placed 3rd) FESTINALENTE(placed 4TH) Official Judge and the assist judge along with the photo finish operator. After considering all evidence it was agreed by all parties that the numbers should be amended to 8-5-3-1 under rule 49(5)(b).

A further review of the photo finish link of race 1 was conducted which revealed the placings to be correct.

RACE 3 – ELDERS EMMS MOONEY 3YO PACE – 1640 metres

MAMMALS JEWEL – Due to causing two false starts when breaking stride in the score up, the filly was declared a late scratching at 2.52pm. connections were advised the filly would be required to requalify on one occasion and would also be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

NAVIE JO – Late scratching at 10.21am due to a float breakdown.

FREE DELIVERY – Inconvenienced when negotiating the first turn when trailing BLINGFORTHEGIRLS who had broke stride.

BLINGFORTHEGIRLS – Negotiating the first turn became unbalanced and broke stride. The filly will be stood down for one requalifying trial.

STRANGER EFFECT – Post-race swab sample.

BELFAST CITY – Pre-race blood sample. Entering the first turn became unbalanced and broke stride. A warning was issued.

 

RACE 4 – TATTERSALLS HOTEL / BLAYNEY PHARMACY PACE – 2000 metres

CLASSIC ARC – A pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either occasion.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR - A pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either occasion. Trainer/Driver N Hurst was questioned on the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the gelding in that after racing outside the lead throughout the event tired over the concluding stages to finish in 8th and last position beaten 52.6 metres. He stated that in the early stages when challenged for the position outside the lead by CLASSIC ARC he elected to apply pressure to the leader as he was of the opinion it may hand up the lead, when realising it was going to hold the lead he elected to grab hold of GABBYS SPORTSTAR to look to obtain cover but at the same time CLASSIC ARC had been restrained to the tail of the field. He further added racing outside the lead without cover was detrimental to the gelding’s overall performance.

LAYLA SHANNON – Pre-race blood sample.

ZOLTON – Post-race swab sample.

HAZZA IS WATCHING – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.  At the request of connections the gelding will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.

 

RACE 5 – KRIDEN FARMS FINAL – 2000 metres

POTTER – Post-race swab sample.

RUSTY VEEJAY – Leaving the 600 metres had a tendency to hang out and locked wheels with DIAMOND BIKINI and as a result that runner broke stride. Tired over the final 600 metres to finish in 7th position beaten 80.6 metres. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to trial on one occasion.

SHES NO HONEY – Driver J Reynolds stated the mare over racing considerably when racing outside the lead contributed to her tiring over the final 500 metres to finish in 10th and last position beaten 187.2 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Connections were advised the mare would be required to requalify on one occasion.

SHEZ A PUNTER – Driver O Frisby stated she was disappointed in the mare’s overall performance when tiring over the final 400 metres to finish in 9th position beaten 117.8 metres. Connections were advised the mare would be required to requalify on one occasion.

DIAMOND BIKINI – Driver L Rusten was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that approaching the 600 metres she has shifted her runner out when insufficiently clear of SHES NO HONEY and as a result that runner was placed in restricted racing room. Leaving the 600 metres broke stride when locking wheels with RUSTY VEEJAY who had hung out.

BOLZANO NZ – Driver P Betts was questioned on the tactics adopted on the gelding where after working forward to the position outside the lead in the middle stages, continued to apply pressure to POTTER who was leading the event. Miss Betts stated the gelding is always driven in a positive manner and when the position outside the leader became available in the middle stages she elected to work forward and with her horse being one paced and in her opinion may have been stronger than POTTER elected to apply pressure to that runner in the hope of gaining an advantage over the concluding stages. She further stated the tactics adopted had not worked out as planned and as a result her runner finished the race off moderately over the concluding stages.

 

RACE 6 – BILLY SOO MEMORIAL BLAYNEY CUP – 2400 metres

COLLECT A DIME – Entering the home straight on the final occasion was checked when locking wheels with JORGE STREET who had shifted out.

SHEZ SWEET LOUISE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

JORGE STREET – Driver J Turnbull was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when entering the home straight on the final occasion after being held up, has shifted his runner wider and as a result was checked when locking wheels with COLLECT A DIME.

PICADILLY PETE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

 

RACE 7 – BLAYNEY NEWSAGENCY PETER MARSHALL MEMORIAL – 2000 metres

LUCKY PUNT – Raced roughly shortly after the start. A warning was issued. Approaching the 200 metres hung out slightly and as a result contacted the sulky wheel of KOLOURA CLARE.

KING BOBBIE – Post-race swab sample.

DEAR DARLING – broke stride shortly after the start. A warning was issued.

KOLOURA CLARE – Pre-race blood sample. Approaching the 200 metres Driver S Calligeros has dropped his foot as a result of being inconvenienced when contacting the front leg of LUCKY PUNTER which hung out slightly.

MULLUM AXEL – Approaching the first turn was checked when shifting wider when LUCKY PUNTER raced rough for a short distance.

ROMERO – Checked after the start when trailing DEAR DARLING who had broke stride. Entering the first turn was checked and broke as a result of MULLUM AXEL shifting wider when being checked. Tired over the final 400 metres to finish in 9th position beaten 129.3 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

 

RACE 8 – TAB VENUE MODE WARATAH HEAT – 1640 metres

FIRESTORM RED - A pre and post-race veterinary examination as the gelding has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either occasion.

FLYING COLOURS NZ – Over raced throughout the event. Post-race swab sample.

ART OF TERROR – Pre-race blood sample. Leaving the 600 metres broke stride. A warning was issued.

ALWAYSBMINNIE – Inconvenienced at the 600 metres when shifting wider to avoid ART OF TERROR who had broke stride.

FLASH AZARAT – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

GLENEAGLE RULER - Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.

PAS DE CHEVAL – Inconvenienced at the 600 metres when shifting wider to avoid ART OF TERROR who had broke stride.
