DEAD EYE TIKI – Broke gait during the score-up, connections were advised that it would continue to be placed outside the draw in mobile start races. Tired over the concluding stages of the event. Driver R Strong was queried regarding the performance and tactics adopted with it, in particular him racing three wide in the early stages of the event and working forward to take up the position outside the leader when there appeared to be reasonable pace during that stage of the event. R Strong stated that after HAITCH VEE TEE broke gait after the start they were left in a difficult position three wide in a reasonably forward position so elected to work forward from that point. He added that he hoped to be able to get to the position outside the leader easily than he did, but as VALENTINI had kicked out in front somewhat and KRISTYSGIRL worked forward to take over the lead from it, that left him out three wide for longer than he anticipated. He further added that he felt the early work done by his gelding resulted in it not being able to finish the race off. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed on the gelding for its performance.
