RACE 1 – AINSWORTH TROTTERS STANDING START HANDICAP – 2300 metres

TUMULT – Became unbalanced and galloped passing the 2000 metres and again passing the 900 metres. The mare galloped for an excessive distance for which the mare was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. Driver S Pearce was advised he must make greater effort to ensure he removes the galloping runner from the field in future circumstances. Trainer S Pearce advised he will make some gear adjustments prior to its next race start.

I CHOOSE YOU – Galloped out at the start for which a warning was issued.

MARIA THERESA NZ – Checked when avoiding the galloping I CHOOSE YOU and commenced to pace for some distance before Driver S Morris corrected its gait. The mare then trailed the field throughout.

MY HIGH PEAK – Gave ground from the 600 metres before becoming unbalanced and galloped passing the 400 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.

HES A HAMMER – Checked and galloped after the start when avoiding the galloping I CHOOSE YOU.

GUNNER – Had its hind leg contacted leaving the 50 metres and as a result raced roughly when VALLEY STAR NZ hung in under pressure to its outside.

AFFAIRE DE COVER – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

VALLEY STAR NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Checked behind the weakening MY HIGH PEAK between the 600 metres and 400 metres. Hung in under pressure leaving the 50 metres and as a result contacted the hind leg of GUNNER causing that runner to pace roughly for a short distance. in view of the racing manners of VALLEY STAR NZ a warning was issued. Post-race swab sample.  

 

RACE 2 – BESTINBEDS.COM.AU THREE YEAR OLD PACE – 1609 metres

TARAS TEMPTATION – Checked leaving the 50 metres when avoiding DRAXON which had locked wheels with EYE CAN EAR AMOUR at that stage.

DRAXON – Pre-race blood sample. Locked wheels with EYE CAN EAR AMOUR passing the 100 metres when that runner shifted up the track to its inside.

FLYING ART MAJOR NZ –Post-race swab sample.

BETTORLEFTALONE – Declared a late scratching at 10:28am on veterinary advice.

EYE CAN EAR AMOUR – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Hung out and locked wheels with DRAXON passing the 100 metres for which a warning was issued.

STEEL STRIDE – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

CENT FOR PLEASURE – Raced roughly leaving the 550 metres before giving ground over the concluding stages and becoming unbalanced and galloping passing the 150 metres for which the filly was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial. Trainer/ Driver B McDonough advised stewards he would make some gear adjustments prior to the filly’s next start. Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – THE CORDINA GROUP PACE – 1609 metres

SAPPHIRESNDIAMONDS – Over raced throughout the event.

ROCKNROLL COWBOY – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres. Post-race swab sample.

VESPA STRIDE – Pre-race blood sample.

MISS BLUE STORK – Improved three wide form the 1000 metres until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 700 metres. Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 4 – BE HAPPY MACH @ WINGATE FARM PACE – 1609 metres

CARIBBEAN RUNA – Pre-race blood sample.

MINI MINE YET NZ – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion and was not fully tested.

BIRDY GAL – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight and was not fully tested.

CLASSICMAJOR – Stewards questioned Trainer B Abbott in relation to the above market expectation performance of the gelding when successful in today’s event ($31). Mr Abbott explained the gelding is known to have difficulty pacing around the final turn and noted Driver J Grimson was able to negotiate the final turn with CLASSICMAJOR allowing the gelding to maintain its momentum and was satisfied with the performance in today’s event. Stewards noted his comments. Post-race swab sample.

 

RACE 5 – TAB PACE – 1609 metres

BANKSY NZ – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

PORT AU PRINCE NZ – Hampered approaching the 100 metres when racing in restricted room between BANKSY NZ and DOWN WARD DOG.

ADMIRABLE NZ – Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

CAN BE A RUEBE NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1250 metres. Post-race swab sample.

RIVERA LOU – Trainer J Alchin was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare B McDonough as the driver by the prescribed time.

 

 

RACE 6 – SUCCESS STUD CELEBRATING 58 YEARS OF BUSINESS PACE – 1609 metres

LILS NIGHTMARE NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

STITCHED UP DAN – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300 metres. Post-race swab sample.

UNCHAINMYART – Hung in throughout the event. Will now be reincluded into the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 7 – IRT PACE – 1609 metres

WATERMAIN LADY – Trainer C Judd was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare R Morris as the driver by the prescribed time. Hung out during the score up. Hung out at various stages throughout the event. Stewards questioned Driver R Morris and Trainer C Judd in relation to the performance of the mare when failing to run on over the concluding stages after obtaining the lead and weakening over the concluding stages to be beaten 13.2 metres and finished in 8th position. Driver R Morris stated the mare raced ungenerously during the run and noted the mare hung out at various stages. Mr Morris stated he had advised Trainer C Judd that some gear adjustments may be required. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

RACE 8 – HYLAND HARNESS FULL SUITS PACE – 1609 metres

REGAZZO DI TILLY – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.

PETES SAID SO NZ – Pre-race blood sample. A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the gelding having competed in excess of 200 race starts. No obvious abnormalities were detected on either examination.

ZAMBIA NZ – Became unbalanced and galloped approaching the 200 metres for which a warning was issued.

PERFECT STRIDE NZ – Post-race swab sample.

MIKI COHEN NZ – Fractious during the early stages of the score up when rearing for which the gelding will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw. Improved three wide from the 1100 metres until obtaining the position outside the leader passing the 900 metres.

 

RACE 9 – D M PLUMBING PACE – 1609 metres

THERES WALLY – Unable to secure clear running in the home straight on the final occasion.

COLOSSAL HOPE – Post-race swab sample.

OHOKA COBRA NZ – Pre-race blood sample.

VINKE B NZ – Caught racing three wide in the early stages until working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1200 metres.

GIPSY PRINCESS - Trainer K Pizzuto was fined $50 under Rule 210 for failing to declare W Rixon as the driver by the prescribed time. Unable to secure clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
