RACE 1 – TRUCK & FLEET MAINTENANCE PACE – 2030 metres
RADIANT AMBER – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Pre-race sample was taken. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
SWEETY ROCKY – Post-race sample was taken.
RACE 2 – NEWCASTLE HERALD PACE – 1609 metres
OHWHATIWOULDGIVE – Post-race sample was taken.
ROCKNROLL ROCKET – Pre-race sample was taken.
IRE OF THE DRAGON – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted driver R Atkins explained that after settling at the rear of the field elected to make a move three wide however the tempo in the event did not ease and as a result made the decision to restrain back to the rear of the field as he was of the view that he would have been three wide for too long. Stewards noted his comments.
D J ROCK NZ – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
RACE 3 – TOOHEYS HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres
LOVE A BELLE – Post-race sample was taken.
WAT EVER YOU NEED – Placed in restricted racing when entering the first turn. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.
QUICKSHIFT GIRL – Pre-race sample was taken.
RACE 4 – BARASTOC PACE – 1609 metres
PETES CRUNCH TIME – Pre-race sample was taken. Post-race sample was taken.
WHATABOYJACK – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
OUR UNCLE JIM – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.
RACE 5 – PELMAN POWER PACE – 1609 metres
RICK REILLY NZ – Broke stride shortly after the start was affected. A warning was issued.
JALANEEL – Post-race sample was taken.
LACEYS LAD NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.
LOYALIST NZ – Checked and broke stride shortly after the start was affected.
RACE 6 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND SUPER MAIDEN – 1609 metres
TREACHEROUS SLOY – Had a tendency to hang out entering the first turn and broke stride and as a result a warning was issued. Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten some distance. A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer A Alchin reported that they will make considerations in regards to the mare’s racing future.
DESIGNA LABEL – Post-race sample was taken.
DEPASSANT – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn.
GOLDNGLITZ – Pre-race sample was taken. Checked as the field negotiated the first turn.
LETS FLY WITH ME – Had a tendency to race roughly during the score up and was out of position as the start was affected. A warning was issued. Hampered when negotiating the first turn and raced roughly for a short distance.
FLIGHT LOUTENANT – Broke stride when the field negotiated the final turn. A warning was issued.
SLICK AND SUAVE – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn.
RACE 7 – SKYFALL STANDARDBREDS 3YO NSW BRED PACE – 1609 metres
BEEJAYS BLING – Had a tendency to hang in after the start was affected and contacted marker pegs. Had a tendency to race greenly throughout the event. Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance to race truly.
NOTHING FINER – Pre-race sample was taken. Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.
SAN SEBASTIAN – When questioned regarding the tactics and overall performance trainer/driver R Alchin explained to Stewards that it was the pre-race intention to restrain out of the gate given its most recent performances. He further added that after settling in a rearward position the tempo of the event was quite slow and was of the view that the position outside the leader was not available and elected to drive for speed over the concluding stages. He further added that when manoeuvring wider on the track rounding the final turn finished off the event well and was pleased in its efforts. Stewards noted his comments.
RACE 8 – PSC INSURANCE 2YO PACE – 1609 metres
BUCKAROO SHANNON – Checked as the field negotiated the first turn. Hampered as the field raced down the home straight for the run to the finish.
WATTS UP WOODY – Pre-race sample was taken. Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn.
HARMS LULLABY – Shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish was momentarily hampered then hung in and contacted marker pegs but disappointed for a run to the outside of WATTS UP WOODY.
HUNGRY BEAR – Post-race sample was taken.
PRETTY PRIVILEGE – Broke stride as the field negotiated the first turn. Connections were advised that given its limited experience would be stood down until it can requalify trial.
RACE 9 – THE TAB APP PACE – 2030 metres
PENURIOUS – Post-race sample was taken.
TWO CRACKED CORN – Had a tendency to over race in the middle stages of the event. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Coney explained that after finding a forward position when the tempo in the middle stages of the event quickened with the challenge from DOUBLE SAID his runner had a tendency to over race and felt that taking a trail at that stage would have been advantageous given the racing manners of DOUBLE SAID believing he would have been afforded a run over the concluding stages as that runner has a tendency to shift ground when under pressure. He further added that after taking a trail still continued to over race and a run presented as anticipated however failed to run on over the concluding stages. Stewards noted his comments.
MISTER BRILLANTE – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn.
DOUBLE SAID – Hampered as the field negotiated the first turn. Had a tendency to hang out whilst under pressure over the concluding stages.
SAINT KARAMARA – Pre-race sample was taken.
NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. Had a tendency to hang in as the field negotiated the first turn and broke stride. A warning was issued.
RACE 10 – SLICK CHICKS PACE – 2030 metres
GRACE SHANNON – Post-race sample was taken.
ROSES ARE BEST – Driver J Taaffe was reprimanded under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when shifting ground up the track over the concluding stages did so without the required clearance over BLING THE CASH whereas a result that runner was checked.
BLING THE CASH – Pre-race sample was taken. Checked shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish.
HEEZ REASONABLE – Sustained a flat tyre shortly after the start was affected. Stewards inquired into the reason for the puncture. It was established that TOUGH NUT TEEJAY (A Bourke) was restrained and taken down the track shortly after the start and was in close proximity of the off side wheel however could not pin point contact at that stage. As such Stewards reminded A Bourke of his obligations to drive with care at all times.
