RACE 1 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1720 metres

ZIEGFELD – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  When questioned driver S Grima explained that the horse had been working well leading into today’s event and it was always the intention to attempt to lead.  He added that he had added blinkers and after asking the horse to utilise gate speed he commenced to over race and at times struck the sulky wheels.  He added that it was not his intention to go as fast as he did in the early stages and during the third quarter he attempted to hold the horse back for as long as possible. However other runners started to challenge and improve to his outside.  S Grima said that it would be his intention to experiment with another gear change prior to the horse’s next start.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

LOOKIN GOOD MARGIE – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

PELIGROSO – Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 2 – SKY RACING ACTIVE 3YO PACE – 1720 metres

INSIDE MAGIC – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

BILLS SWAN SONG – Commenced to weaken near the 400 metres and gave ground over the concluding stages.  When questioned driver J Reynolds explained that in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate the rain affected track due to the gelding having a tendency to get down on its bumpers.  He added that in his opinion the gelding was right up to the race on its most recent form and was disappointed with the outcome.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  BILLS SWAN SONG was placed on its last chance to race truly.

MARRANZANO – Improved three wide in the middle stages before crossing to the position outside of the leader near the 900 metres.  The colt commenced to weaken approaching the 400 metres and tired over the concluding stages.  When questioned trainer/driver R Alchin explained that when A BUCK TEN broke in the score up and missed the start he elected to improve during the middle stages to race closer to the lead however, with the benefit of hindsight on the rain affected track, the colt may not have been suited by being used in the middle stages and racing without cover.  R Alchin added that he would review how the colt recovers in the days subsequent and would continue with his preparation.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A BUCK TEN – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Broke gait during the score up and was slightly out of position at the start.  Connections were advised that A BUCK TEN would now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.

 

RACE 3 – ROGUE SYNDICATE CLUB PACEWAY APRIL 2 PACE – 1720 metres

BETTING STAR – Weakened significantly over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  When questioned driver L Green explained that the first quarter was faster than expected and he eventually had to allow TIL HEAVENS ROCKN NZ to cross.  He added that BETTING STAR did not travel well from the 600 metres and over the last 200 metres gave significant ground.  L Green added that he was disappointed with the mare’s performance.  A warning was placed on BETTING STAR for an unsatisfactory performance.

THE BEST OF YOU – Raced three wide in the early stages before working forward to the position outside of the leader near the 1100 metres.

DALLAS DALE NZ – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages before crossing to the position outside of the leader leaving the 900 metres. 

FLO RYDA NZ – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW Animal Welfare guidelines due to the gelding competing in its 212th race start.  No abnormalities were detected.

MAC THUNDER – Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

MISTER MANAGER – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

TOOLIJOOA BEACH – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

 

RACE 4 – AUSSIE NIGHT MARKETS SUNDAY APRIL 12 PACE – 2125 metres

RUDY GEE – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

GIVE ME A MINUTE NZ – Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

WHEREISHE – Unable to secure clear running at any stage of the home straight and was not fully tested.

 

RACE 5 – THE LESLEY BRITTON MEMORIAL – 1720 metres

CAULONIA COURAGE – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Had difficulty securing clear running until passing the 100 metres.

THE METAL FLYER – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

FIRE FOX NZ – Leaving the 200 metres when racing tight to the inside of BOLD MEDLEY JUJON NZ, FIRE FOX NZ bumped with BOLD MEDLEY JUJON NZ and was inconvenienced.  Held up for clear running until passing the 150 metres.

CHARLIES ACE NZ – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW Animal Welfare guidelines due to the mare competing in her 226th race start.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

BOLD MEDLEY JUJON NZ – Laid in when racing between the 300 metres and the 200 metres.  Leaving the 200 metres bumped with FIRE FOX NZ which hung out slightly resulting in the near side sulky wheel of BOLD MEDLEY JUJON NZ lifting momentarily.

HEAVENLY WAGE – Weakened significantly over the concluding stages.  Driver J Bigeni was unable to provide an explanation for the performance.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  Connections were advised that HEAVENLY WAGE would stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory trial.

 

RACE 6 – MARKETS @ PENRITH SHOWGROUND EVERY THURSDAY PACE – 2125 metres

UNCHAINMYART – Hung out after the start causing GOODTIME BRAVO to be checked.  Connections were advised that UNCHAINMYART will now be excluded from the mobile barrier draw.  The mare continued to hang in when negotiating the turns and was intractable throughout.  Leaving the 600 metres commenced to give ground and weakened over the concluding stages.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.  Connections were advised that UNCHAINMYART would be stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory trial for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

GOODTIME BRAVO – Shortly after the start had to be checked wider to avoid UNCHAINMYART subsequently the gelding became unbalanced and broke gait.

STELLINA – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

DESIDERIO – Pre-race blood samples were obtained. 

GREY CADILLAC – Underwent a pre and post-race veterinary examination as per HRNSW Animal Welfare guidelines.  No abnormalities were detected on either examination.

 

RACE 7 – GUINNESS PACE – 2125 metres

FOR THREE REASONS – Weakened significantly over the concluding stages.  Driver Z Fitzpatrick explained that the gelding struck its knee during the run and wanted to hang in and race on rein when negotiating the turns.  Connections were advised that FOR THREE REASONS would be stood down from racing until it can complete one satisfactory trial for what was deemed to be an unsatisfactory performance.

NEED FOUR SPEED – Leaving the 700 metres was hampered by FOR THREE REASONS when that runner commenced to weaken.

VALDEZZ – Pre-race blood samples were obtained. 

TIGER EUPHEME – Had difficulty securing clear running until leaving the 200 metres.

DYNAMITES BEST – Improved three wide in the early stages to race in the position outside of the leader near the 1600 metres.

MISS BLUE STORK – Post-race swab samples were obtained.

 

RACE 8 – HSV MUSCLE CAR SHOW PENRITH SHOWGROUND APRIL 12 PACE – 1720 metres

GRANGE REASON – Pre-race blood samples were obtained.  Approaching the 200 metres hung out and locked wheels momentarily with TARA JIM.  When questioned driver W Rixon was not able to provide an explanation for the gelding’s performance however did indicated the second placing obtained at Bankstown at its most recent start may have been flattering given the track appeared to be more suitable to horses that raced along the marker pegs on that day. 

SHES A TRUE BLING – When questioned regarding the mare racing above market expectations ($88).  Driver J Bates explained that in his opinion the mare had been racing better than its recent form appears.  He said that when it recently competed in a super maiden the mare had run on well and had been working well leading into tonight’s event.  J Bate’s explanation was noted however connections were advised that now that the mare had established form it was expected that SHES A TRUE BLING would continue to race in a consistent manner.  Post-race swab samples were obtained.

TARA JIM – Approaching the 200 metres was inconvenienced when locking wheels with GRANGE REASON which hung out. 

CAPTAIN TIDS – When questioned driver C Hart explained that the gelding was inclined to race greenly and near the 300 metres appeared to hit a flat spot before finishing the race off relatively well.  He added that he had advised trainer T Munday the gelding maybe better suited wearing a fixed deafener hood as in his opinion when he released the deafeners the gelding switched off. 

TORA – Leaving the 300 metres was hampered by TARA JIM and GRANGE REASON when those two runners came together and locked wheels momentarily.
