RACE 6 DAYS INDUSTRIAL PACE 2240metres

GENERAL

Prior to the running of Race 6, Dean Cernovskis the trainer and driver of UNCLE CRAIGO reported to Stewards that he suspected the gelding to be lame. A veterinary examination confirmed this, and as a result UNCLE CRAIGO was declared a late scratching at 1:20pm and the gelding will now be stood down for a period of 7 days and until a veterinary clearance is provided.

TITIWHA – Pre‑race blood sample.

RACE 8 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1710 metres

GENERAL – Prior to the start, FE FE ON FIRE reared and fell. A pre‑race veterinary examination was conducted and the mare was passed fit to take its place in the event. However, FE FE ON FIRE remained very fractious thereafter and despite the assistance of track staff, was unable to score‑up satisfactorily. As a result, the mare was scratched from the event by order of Stewards. Trainer Gary Hargraves was advised that FE FE ON FIRE would be stood down until the completion of one re‑qualifying trial.

SNEAK A PEEK NZ – Pre‑race blood sample.

WHERE BACK – Post-race swab sample.

TREACHEROUS BELLE – Raced three‑wide during the early stages before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1000 metres.

BOLERO – After the start, the mare was caught wide and subsequently restrained to near the rear of the field. Approaching the 1400 metres, BOLERO worked forward and raced three‑wide until near the 800 metres before being restrained again to the rear of the field. Driver Lucy Hansen was questioned regarding the tactics adopted. Ms Hansen explained that from the barrier draw her pre‑race intention had been to restrain; however, when ARK ALERT obtained the position she was seeking, BOLERO was left racing three‑wide. She added that due to the mare’s tractability she was unable to restrain further and elected to allow the mare to continue working forward. Ms Hansen stated that when it became apparent the position outside the leader would not be available, she then restrained BOLERO back to the rear of the field. Ms Hansen was advised that whilst Stewards would not be taking the matter further in hindsight she may have been better served in persevering in her attempt to restrain BOLERO to the rear of the field in the early stages.

ARK ALERT – Held up for the duration of the home straight and was not fully tested.

THANKS BE TO GOD – Held up rounding the home turn.

RACE 9 – GOULBURN SOLDIERS CLUB PACE – 1710 metres

VIN NUMBER – Raced three‑wide during the early stages before working forward to obtain the position outside the leader passing the 1100 metres.

FOXY DADA – Shifted in and contacted MIKI BE GOOD approaching the 1500 metres and suffered a flat tyre due to being awkwardly placed behind VIN NUMBER which was being restrained. In view of the circumstances Stewards could place no blame on any horse or driver involved.

MIKIBEQUICK – Pre‑race blood sample.

MIKI BE GOOD – Checked and raced roughly approaching the 1500 metres when FOXY DADA shifted down the track.
