JUST ME AND YOU – Out of position at the start, became unbalanced and galloped shortly after the start for which a warning was issued.

PRINCE KENNY – Out of position at the start for which a warning was issued.  Failed to travel throughout the event and gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 80.4 metres for which the gelding was stood down until it completes one requalifying trial.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

ELLE PERFECTO – Pre-race blood sample.  Driver J Callaghan pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that passing the 300 metres he has shifted ELLE PERFECTO wider resulting in contact to GLADIATRIX causing that runner to be checked and gallop and further driver J Callaghan was momentarily unseated in his sulky.  Driver J Callaghan had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 14 days to commence midnight 16 April 2026.  In assessing penalty Stewards considered driver J Callaghan’s guilty plea, overall driving record in relation to this rule and circumstances of this incident.  Withstood a protest from the connections of GLADIATRIX.  Post-race swab sample.

CEE CEE IN PARIS – Worked forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200 metres.  Sustained a flat tyre passing the 300 metres when ELLE PERFECTO was attempting to shift GLADIATRIX wider when ELLE PERFECTO was trailing CEE CEE IN PARIS.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

GLADIATRIX – Checked and galloped passing the 300 metres when ELLE PERFECTO was shifted up the track to its inside and contacted that runner’s hind leg causing that runner to be checked and broke.  Lodged a protest against ELLE PERFECTO alleging interference passing the 300 metres.  After considering all available evidence Stewards determined to dismiss the process noting the distance remaining in the event and the way in which the runners had been travelling up to this point, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that but for this interference, GLADIATRIX would have finished forward of ELLE PERFECTO.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed slight swelling to the left hind pastern region of GLADIATRIX.

CHIEF RUNNINGCLOUD – Post-race swab sample.

WHERES MY REASON – Hampered passing the 1000 metres when improving towards the outside of COCOS DESIRE which carried WHERES MY REASON into a three wide position leaving the 1000 metres.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

FEARFUL – Gave ground over the concluding stages to be beaten 57.2 metres and finished in last position.  Driver J Coney explained that the gelding was racing up in grade in today’s event and expected the gelding to take benefit from today’s run.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

CLASSIC CHIP – Stewards questioned driver L McCarthy in relation to the tactics adopted in particular his decision to improve forward leaving the 1200 metres and re-take the lead from SAN SEBASTIAN leaving the 1200 metres.  Mr McCarthy explained that he was happy to take cover during the early stages of the event and after crossing down to the lead passing the 1400 metres he anticipated DEVIOUS MINDS may improve forward which he would have been happy to take cover from that runner however SAN SEBASTIAN had covered that runner and progressed forward which he did not feel would be a suitable runner to trail in the event and elected to drive forward to re-take the lead leaving the 1200 metres.  Mr McCarthy explained that he was satisfied with the colt’s performance in today’s event noting that the colt was first up since 25 October 2025.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

SAN SEBASTIAN – Stewards questioned trainer/driver R Alchin in relation to the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the colt when finishing in seventh placing beaten 25.3 metres.  Mr Alchin explained that he begun well and when being able to gain an advantage over the field leaving the 1400 metres he elected to drive forward and obtain the lead and was satisfied to take cover from CLASSIC CHIP when that runner challenged leaving the 1200 metres.  Mr Alchin added that he was disappointed in the performance considering the run afforded. Mr Alchin further added that he had noted a number of runners in his stable over the previous 14 days had not gone to expectation and he would look to assess how the colt recovered and may have the stable veterinarian take bloods.  Stewards advised Mr Alchin to report any significant findings to the Stewards upon receipt of the blood analysis.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

UNCLE TIGER – Tightened approaching the first turn when MCWIZARD was shifted down the track without the required clearance.

MCWIZARD – Driver B McDonough was issued a reprimand under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that approaching the first turn he has allowed MCWIZARD to shift down the track with marginal clearance over UNCLE TIGER resulting in that runner being tightened momentarily.  Stewards questioned driver B McDonough in relation to the tactics adopted in particular his decision to maintain the lead after recording the first quarter in 25.7 seconds when challenged during the second quarter from IDEAL IN DREAMS.  Mr McDonough explained that after obtaining the lead in the early stages he was happy to maintain that position and tried to obtain some respite during the second quarter and was surprised when challenged by IDEAL IN DREAMS for the majority of the second quarter into the third quarter.  Mr McDonough did not believe that that runner was a suitable runner to take cover from and elected to maintain his position.  In all of the circumstances Stewards did not find that Mr McDonough’s decisions were unreasonable in all the circumstances and noted his comments.

SURF ACE – Hampered passing the 800 metres when the pace in the running line eased momentarily.

IDEAL IN DREAMS – Driver J Daskalovski was issued a reprimand under rule 149(2) for unacceptable driving in that after beginning well she challenged for the lead during a fast 25.7 seconds first quarter and after obtaining the position outside of the leader approaching the 1200 metres, she then had a second attempt for the lead passing the 900 metres and failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 23.3 metres and finished in last position.  Stewards determined that after it being unsuccessful for the lead during the early stages that she had erred in judgement when attempting to drive forward and find the lead during the second quarter.  In not taking more severe action Stewards were very mindful that this was only Ms Daskalovski’s 71st race drive.
