RACE 1 – TAB VENUE MODE PACE – 1740 metres
FEELGOOD RAY – Driver Roger Strong was questioned regarding the below market expectation of the gelding where after starting $2.50 favourite and having an economical trip behind the leader, failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 20.1 metres. Mr Strong stated he felt the gelding was disappointing and could offer no further explanation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
ROCK THE NATION NZ – Driver James Locke was cautioned for the manner in which he used his whip entering the home straight.
BOLANALONG – Inconvenienced approaching the 300 metres when held up behind FEELGOOD RAY as that runner gave ground.
SIGNIFICANT LAZ – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 2 – YIRRIBEE STUD PACE – 1740 metres
WATERMAIN LADY – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
FLIP A COIN – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.
RANDOM MAHONEY – Inconvenienced approaching the 300 meters as a result of ALL JOKIN ASIDE and CRAYONS TO PERFUME locking wheels. Approaching the 200 metres hung out slightly locking wheels with ALL JOKIN ASIDE and was checked.
ALL JOKIN ASIDE – Shifted out slightly and locked wheels with CRAYONS TO PERFUME approaching the 300 metres. Approaching the 200 metres locked wheels with RANDOM MAHONEY when that runner hung out slightly.
CRAYONS TO PERFUME – Approaching the 300 metres locked wheels and was checked as a result of ALL JOKIN ASIDE shifting up the track slightly.
RACING WRITER – Driver Peter McRae was questioned on his driving tactics and overall performance of the gelding, where after racing outside the leader he elected to resist a challenge from RANDOM MAHONEY approaching the 1000 metres before finishing in 5th position beaten 34.8 metres. Mr McRae explained the pace was slow in the early stages and he elected to race outside the leader as is the normal racing pattern of RACING WRITER and although challenged by RANDOM MAHONEY he felt it wasn’t a strong challenge and he elected to hold the position outside the leader. Mr McRae further stated he was happy with the overall performance of the gelding and felt it was consistent with the horse’s recent form.
RACE 3 – SMALLMON BROTHERS WASTE & RECYCLING PACE – 1740 metres
MODERN SHEEN – Driver Shane Hallcroft was questioned regarding the performance of the mare, after racing with cover the mare failed to run on over the concluding stages to be beaten 30.5 metres. Mr Hallcroft explained he felt the mare was racing up in grade and had travelled well until approaching the 400 metres when MODERN SHEEN commenced to give ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
ELATED NZ – Pre-race blood sample. Held up entering the home straight before gaining clear running in the sprint lane.
IM ALRITE – Post-race swab sample.
RACE 4 – WALSH & BLAIR LAWYERS 3YO PACE – 1740 metres
LOOKMEOVER NZ – Raced roughly passing the 750 metres.
STAR TO FALL – Pre-race blood sample. Post-race swab sample.
RACE 5 – WOODLANDS STUD PACE – 1740 metres
TIZZY LIZZIE – Post-race swab sample.
JACCKA CONNOR NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
RACE 6 – VALE JOHN DAVEY – 1740 metres
SCARED STIFF NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
SPORTY DANCER - A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted due to the mare not having started for over 12 months. Both examinations failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
