RACE 1 – CANBERRA DIFFERENTIAL & MECHANICAL SERVICES 3YO PACE – 1770 metres
SEABOW – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not raced since 21 March 2025. No abnormalities were detected on either examination. Pre-race blood. When negotiating the first turn raced rough for a short distance before breaking stride. As it was the gelding’s second race start, it will be stood down for one requalify trial. Post-race sample.
MIDNIGHT DENIAL – Driver R Cernovskis could give no reasonable explanation for the filly tiring over the final 500 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 53.5 metres. A warning was placed on the filly’s racing performance.
MINOR PREMIER – When negotiating the first turn became unbalanced and broke stride. The filly will be giving its last chance to race truly.
BETTOR CRUNCH – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.
BETTORBYTHESEA – Pre-race blood. When negotiating the first turn was inconvenienced when MINOR PREMIER had broken stride.
WORTH EVERY CENT – Declared a late scratching at 3.40pm on vets’ advice.
MAJOR ISSUES – Checked between the 500 metres and the 300 metres when trailing MIDNIGHT DENIAL who was yielding ground.
RACE 2 – LERIDA ESTATE WINERY PACE – 1770 metres
FREASON – Post-race sample.
ROCKNROLL TIMES – Driver J Turnbull was queried on the gelding’s overall performance which yielded ground over the final 200 metres and finished in eighth position beaten 20 metres. He stated he was disappointed in the gelding’s performance as they had changed work and appeared to be working better leading into the event. He further added the stable would consider the gelding’s racing future in their stables in the coming days. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
FRESH PRINCE – When negotiating the first turn became unbalanced and broke stride. When considering the gelding’s recent record, it will now be stood down for a period of 28 days and must also requalify on four occasions.
PENCIL ME IN – Checked at the 700 metres when trailing TROUBLE IN HEAVEN who had broken stride.
SHAKEN SANDS – When negotiating the first turn was checked when shifting wider to avoid FRESH PRINCE.
OAK RIDGE – Broke stride shortly after the start. Considering the gelding’s recent record it will be placed outside the mobile barrier in future starts.
MICKTON MOUSE – Pre-race blood.
TROUBLE IN HEAVEN – Broke stride at the 700 metres. A warning was issued.
RACE 3 – GLEN MIA (ACT) PTY LTD PACE – 1770 metres
TIGERNATOR – Post-race sample.
FLY OVER STATES – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
ITZ BAD – Pre-race blood.
RACE 4 – NOEL RYAN MEMORIAL MAIDEN – 1770 metres
TIZZA FU – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up and when filling its position prior to the start, checked WAITANDSEE and was out of position. The filly then broke stride shortly after the start. Connections were advised the filly would be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Due to the ground lost while galloping took no competitive part in the race.
MIDNIGHT CRIMES – Over raced throughout the event. Post-race sample. Driver J Turnbull was cautioned on his position of his body outside the confines of the sulky even though the mare was over racing.
WAITANDSEE – Pre-race blood. The all clear was delayed ascertaining if the gelding had been afforded a fair start when it appeared to be out of position at the start. After taking evidence from trainer/driver J Rattray and viewing the available race day footage it was determined when TIZZA FU broke stride in the early stages of the score up WAITANDSEE had shifted up the track to allow that runner to fill its position prior to the start and when not being able to regain his rightful position was denied a fair start and acting under rule 15(1)(t) the gelding was declared a non-runner being denied a fair start. All clear was given on the judges numbers.
SAPPHIRE BOY – Approaching the 1200 metres broke stride. A warning was issued.
RACE 5 – ACKIE & KAY HAWKE MEMORIAL – 1770 metres
ITS DOWN TO DIGGER – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
BAM BAM BROOK – When giving ground approaching the 500 metres the outside sulky wheel was contacted by RUDIMENTARY when that runner was attempting to shift wider. Due to the flat tyre the gelding weakened out of the event to be beaten a considerable distance.
RUDIMENTARY – Driver H Day was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in that at the 500 metres contacted the outside sulky wheel of BAM BAM BROOK when shifting wider. In not taking further action consideration was given to BAM BAM BROOK who was yielding ground quickly at the time.
MILLIE FRANCIS NZ – Fractious when leaving the score up. Inconvenienced at the 300 metres when shifting to the inside of BAM BAM BROOK who was yielding ground.
MACHX THE STRANGER – Pre-race blood.
RACE 6 – HENRY RIXON MEMORIAL FINAL – 2170 metres
ED MENDES – Checked between the 500 metres and 200 metres when initially trailing DONNIE MAC who was yielding ground, when clearing that runner was further held up until the 200 metres when clearing IDEAL ANDY who was also yielding ground.
LIT THE WICK – Approaching the 200 metres was tightened and contacted marker pegs.
TOOLIJOOA BEACH – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
JOETOMO – Broke stride in the early stages of the score up. A warning was issued.
RACE 7 – OSKAR MEMORIALS CANBERRA TROTTERS CUP – 2170 metres
THEBESTBOURBON – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
VALTINO – Broke stride when racing under pressure at the 100 metres. A warning was issued.
JUNGLE EYES – A pre race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding had raced at Menangle the previous night. The gelding was passed fit to race. Driver J Locke was questioned on the tactics adopted and the overall performance of the gelding when placing pressure on VALTINO who was leading the event in the middle stages of the event until tiring out of the event to finish in fifth position beaten 43 metres. He stated it was intention to find cover on the marker line and when unable to do so the gelding commenced to over race when contacting its own sulky. Due to the geldings racing manners it was not the intentions to place pressure on VALTINO in the middle stages of the event contributing to the gelding tiring over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
RACE 8 – TAB.COM CANBERRA CUP – 2570 metres
HIGHLANDS WARRIOR – Leaving the 400 metres after a short jostle with MESSERATI has contacted that runners sulky when being shifted wider was checked and raced rough.
MCBART – Pre-race blood.
MESSERATI – Driver J Locke pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that when leaving the 400 metres after jostling for a short distance with HIGHLANDS WARRIOR gained an advantage over that runner and when attempting to shift wider made contact to HIGHLANDS WARRIOR who was checked and raced rough. Considering Mr Locke’s plea, his record in relation to this rule Mr Locke’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 14 days. This suspension is to commence at midnight, Tuesday, 28 April 2026. Post-race sample.
JALANEEL – Pre-race blood.
RACE 9 – TWOMEYS ACCOUNTANTS & ADVISORY PACE – 1770 metres
ROYAL FOCUS – Tired over the final 400 metres to finish in tenth and last position beaten 62.8 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The mare will be required to requalify on one occasion.
ONE STUNNIN MELODY – Post-race sample.
CHARGING BULL – Pre-race blood.
MOVINTOHELLANDBACK – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
PADDY MACH – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding is 13 years of age and has had over 200 race starts. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.
