Race 5 – Grosestar – S Ison

RACE 1 – DOWNLOAD THE TAB APP TODAY PACE – 1609 metres.
ESPERANZA – post-race swab sample.
TRY CATCHING ME – Pre-race blood sample.
DOUBLE MACH – locked wheels passing the 300m, became very unbalanced and was severely checked for some distance.
HEY DUDE – Had to be checked and broke stride passing the 300m, as a result of locking wheels with DOUBLE MACH, which shifted in marginally, as BENJIMAGEE which was racing to its inside, was shifted out in search of clear running, which forced HEY DUDE to shift slightly wider. Subsequently S Ison the trainer/driver of BENJIMAGEE was reprimanded under AR 163(1)(a)(iii).
BENJIMAGEE – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
RACE 2 – SOUTHGATE INN PACE – 1609 metres
PEPPI GRATZ – post-race swab sample.
ROCKNROLL RAMBO – pre-race blood sample.
RACE 3 – PETERMAC ON-COURSE PHOTOGRAPY PACE – 1609 metres
DOUBLE LINES – Pre-race blood sample.
EIFFEL FROM HEAVEN – Post-race swab sample.
BRING YOUR BEST – Broke stride and galloped during the score up. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.
UNCLE GREGORY – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations. Weakened noticeably inside the 500 metres resulting in IM BELIEBER which was racing behind being unable to avoid contacting the sulky, which caused the offside tyre to go flat. Trainer Mr C Sutherland said that the gelding would now be retired.
IM BELIEBER – Following required satisfactory performance, connections were advised that the gelding would now be eligible to take its place in the mobile barrier draw.
RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE AN HOUND ENCOURAGEMENT PACE – 1980 metres
PHAR LUME NZ – When questioned in relation to the performance driver J Coney explained, that the mare travelled comfortably during the early and middle stages behind the lead, however when placed under pressure inside the 500 metres could not respond and was disappointing in the run to the finish. A post-race veterinary examination revealed PHAR LUME NZ displayed a slow recovery rate. Connections were advised that prior to racing again the mare must perform competitively in an official qualifying trial.
LOOKAT MEE – Could not be driven into position at the start and was slow to begin. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s racing record.
THREE PARTS GREY – When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Miss S Rushbrook explained, that whilst the mare travelled relatively well during the early and middle stages, when placed under pressure inside the 500 metres it was unresponsive and could not improve from that point and was further affected by the off side tyre going flat in the run to the finish. She said that in her opinion the mare had been too aggressive in its trackwork leading into today’s race and would benefit from being freshened and stated that its preparation would be eased prior to it being nominated to race again on 7 May 2026.
CORAL CAYS – pre-race blood sample. Hung out when placed under pressure in the home straight and ran wide. Post-race swab sample.
UNIT FORTY ONE – When questioned in relation to the performance driver T Ison explained, that whilst it was subject to pressured driving in the early stages the tempo was moderate and after establishing a position outside the lead the gelding travelled well. He said that passing the winning post with a lap remaining he felt that the gelding was travelling strongly and attempted to drive forward and cross TASMANS DELIGHT and after obtaining an initial response UNIT FORTY ONE became lethargic, then despite his constant efforts weakened in the run to the finish. He said that in his opinion the gelding pulled up well and had been advised by the trainer that he intended to continue with the current racing preparation.
RACE 5 – VALE COL HOBDAY – 1609 metres
HE SAID SHE SAID – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.
ADRENALINE RUSH – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.
KEILOR BABY SHARK – Post-race swab sample.
ESCALERA NZ – pre-race blood sample.
GROSESTAR – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.
RACE 6 – MILLENIUM SIGNS PACE – 1609 metres
TAFL MOVE – Pre-race blood sample.
IM LORD TOMMY – Post-race swab sample.
MAYWYNS MIGHTY MAC – Galloped away when the start was affected and was difficult to restrain. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing record.
SONIC EXPRESS – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examinations.
THREE RIVERS NZ – When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Mr T Ison, explained that the gelding failed to travel at any stage despite racing in a relatively prominent position during the middle stages. He said that inside the 500 metres he felt that his drive was going to weaken out of the race, however it responded to his urgings and ran to the finish moderately. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
LACHIES IDEAL – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
RACE 7 – CLUB MENANGLE WARATAH HEAT – 1609 metres
FOX TROT – Post-race swab sample.
THE IRISH EAGLE – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
MY ROCK MOVES – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
CHEDDAR VALLEY NZ – Pre-race blood sample.
MISTER CHEESE – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
RACE 8 – RADIO 88.9FM NEW ENGLAND NORTHWEST PACE – 1980 metres
MAJOR MICKEY – Post-race swab sample.
PARIS PRINCESS – raced in restricted room for some distance approaching the home turn, then was held up and unable to obtain clear running at any stage of the straight and went to the finish without being fully tested.
ALLSOPP – Pulled hard during the score up and was difficult to restrain.
CAPTAIN GROVE – Pulled hard during the early and middle stages.
HEZA DOOZIE – When questioned in relation to the performance trainer/driver Mr T Ison explained, that from his back row position he was unable to obtain a position as forward in the field as he had wished, however despite this, the gelding travelled strongly through the middle stages. He said that the tempo during the middle stages was slow, which advantaged the leading runners and stated that this was the reason that after being shifted wider to go forward from his rearward position passing the 500 metres, CAPTAIN GROVE was unable to make significant ground. He said that if the gelding’s recovery was satisfactory its racing preparation would continue.
ASHLEYS BLUE CHIP – Pre-race blood sample.
