RACE 5 – BARASTOC PACE – 1609 metres
HALLOWEEN – Pre-race blood sample.
GALVARINO – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event.
YELLA – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted in relation to his position in the field, Trainer/ Driver T Ison explained after having after a quick back up and hard run at its most recent start looked to drive in a less aggressive manner in addition to being of the opinion he would not have been able to cross runners to his inside to find a forward position, therefore he settled further back. He further added that throughout the event with BO DUKE NZ being caught racing 3 wide felt in hindsight would have been more advantageous to trail WILL I AM (R Morris) 4 wide entering the back straight as he was held up for clear running for some distance prior to getting to the final turn where he was pleased with his runners finishing efforts when clear. Stewards noted his comments.
BO DUKE NZ – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, Driver P Green advised the pre-race intension for it to be driven forward in the event. He further added after being caught wide in the early stages looked to move forward with EYES BEEN PATIENT which found the position outside the leader and in his opinion was looking to gain cover however that runner commenced to over race, coupled with BO DUKE NZ being unable to muster the necessary speed to find the position outside the leader which resulted in being caught racing wide for the remainder. He further added coming to the winning post with a lap remaining ceased his challenge and his runner finished of the event fairly and finished with the field. Stewards noted his comments.
WILL I AM – Post-race swab sample.

TENNESSEE KID – Driver L Green pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) in that shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish, directed his runner wider on the track in an attempt to gain clear running however did so without the clearance over DESIGNA LABEL where as a result was checked and broke stride. Driver L Green’s licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of 10 days. When considering penalty, Stewards took into account his plea of guilt, driving record in relation to the interference and other mitigating factors such as DESIGNA LABEL having a tendency to lay in prior to the incident occurring.
RACE 7 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres
UNIT FORTY ONE – Placed in restricted room entering the first turn and contacted the near side wheel of REIGN MAKER.
REIGN MAKER - Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. As the field entered the first turn was momentarily tightened by GO TESS GO (R Morris) and as a result closed down the track and restricted the racing room of UNIT FORTY ONE (T Ison) whereas a result sustained contact to the near side wheel resulting in a puncture. Stewards could not lay blame on any driver or horse for the incident and advised all to take greater care in similar circumstances.
