ITS DOWN TO DIGGER – When questioned in relation to the performance, Driver J Turnbull explained it had been his intention to drive forward after the start and obtain a position outside the lead in accordance with its established racing pattern. He said after failing to muster speed in the early stages he was trapped wider than intended and obliged to cover more ground than initially anticipated. He said he drove forward rounding the turn after the start and eventually obtained the position outside the lead where the gelding travelled relatively well, however when placed under pressure inside the 500 metres became unresponsive and ran to the finish in a disappointing manner. He attributed this to the longer distance of tonight’s race and the pressure he was obliged to apply when obtaining his position outside the lead. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
PAS DE CHEVAL – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
BETTORS HOPE – Pulled hard during the middle stages.
RACE 8 – HORSE QUEENED FROM MUD-CAKED TO MAJESTIC 2YO FILLIES PACE – 1730 metres.

AUNTY MEL – Fractious in the score up, could not be driven into position at the start and raced intractably before taking no competitive part. Trainer/Driver Mr A Frisby was advised the provision of last chance in the mobile draw would be placed on the filly’s racing record. Further, it must perform tractably in one official qualifying trial prior to racing again.
TULHURST IRIS – Broke stride free of any external factors passing the 1400 metres and galloped for a short distance. Trainer/Driver Mr N Hurst was advised that a stand down period of 14 days would now be applied and prior to racing again, the filly must perform tractably in two official qualifying trials.
