Driver Blake Micallef was queried into the seemingly poor performance from the mare which gave ground from the 600m to finish in 9th position beaten 27m after racing in a favourable one-one position throughout the event. Mr Micallef advised the mare to be disappointing, and the mare is best suited to the smaller racing circuits in the region however due to the current racing scheduling this has prevented the mare racing on those tracks and when able it would be the stables intentions to restrict the mare to those circuits. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 4– BEDWELLS FEEDBARN BLENDED STOCKFEEDS 2YO FILLIES PACE – 1730 metres

General: A false start was declared in the early stages of the score up when Blake Fitzpatick driver of SOPHIES WISH indicated to the starter to a gear malfunction when the rein became entangled in the spoon of the bit. Stewards refrained taking any action against SOPHIES WISH.

IDEALLY SWEET – ($8.50) Driver Vaughan Duncan was queried into the overall performance & the tactics adopted upon the filly in particular his decision passing the 1000m when racing outside the leader to race on level terms and place undue pressure to his runner and the leader LUCKY JESS prior to IDEALLY SWEET  being place under pressure to give ground from the 400m to finish in 8th and last position beaten 41.6m. Mr Duncan advised after initially showing gait speed he was able to obtain the position outside the leader relatively quickly after the start which IDEALLY SWEET settled. Mr Duncan added once entering the front straight on the first occasion passing the 1200m IDEALLY SWEET began to over race improving forward racing on level term with the leader LUCKY JESS. Mr Duncan explained he attempted to restrain the filly during this section however due to the positioning of hands with the reins he was unable to suitable control the filly. Mr Duncan contributed the performance to a combination of the filly over racing during the middle stages of the event & racing without cover to be the main factors for the performance. After viewing the available replays and the comments of Mr Duncan Stewards gave Mr Duncan the benefit of doubt in the tactics adopted in particular he could of made more an effort to restrain the filly during this section of the event and he must have more control over his drives going forward or a charge under AHR Rule 149 would be persuaded. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SWINGING QUEEN – ($2.60 Fav) Driver Zara Fitzpatrick was queried into the overall performance of the filly which finished in 4th position beaten 16.4m. Ms Fitzpatrick advised the filly to be disappointing & failed to let down over the final stages of the event. Trainer Blake Fitzpatrick advised it would be his intentions to have blood sample obtained from the filly prior to starting at Menangle on Tuesday 2nd June 2026. Stewards will contact Mr Fitzpatrick in the ensuring days.

BAXTER RED – Driver Mat Rue was issued a reprimand for shifting ground passing the 300m which inconvenienced TENMINUTES.

RACE 8 – YABBY DAM FARMS OWN THE THRILL PACE – 2260 metres

General: Stewards delayed the All Clear to the view the available replays in regards to CARBAGANOOSH which was 4th past the post if the gelding had gained unfair advantage racing inside the line of marker pegs around the final turn prior to utilizing the sprint lane. After taking evidence from Driver Zara Fitzpatrick & viewing the available replays stewards were satisfied passing the 300m FIRESTORM RED shifted outwards marginally when racing behind the leader at which point CARBAGANOOSH which was following that runner along the marker line three (3) pegs improve to the inside of FIRESTORM RED despite the drivers efforts to restrained the gelding. Stewards were satisfied at no stage did Ms Fitzpatrick urge her horse forward and was at all times attempting to prevent the gelding to improving forward albeit racing inside the line of marker pegs & she had meet her requirements under AHR Rules. Stewards were satisfied the incident was brought about of a combination of FIRESTORM RED moving up the track marginally and the racing manners of CARBAGANOOSH. Therefore Stewards gave All Clear on the judges placing of 2,7,4,1.
