RACE 1 – DONGES IGA PACE – 1720 metres
HES CHIMING – Hung in rounding the home turn. Driver J Stockton was queried regarding the below market expectations performance of the gelding. He stated it was inclined to hang in at various stages throughout the race and did not travel at all during the event. He added that he was disappointed with its run. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
MAMMALS GIRL – Post-race swab sampled.
JUST ROLLYOUROWN NZ – Shifted out under pressure slightly approaching the 400 metres as a result its sulky wheel was contacted by NOSAERt.
BORROWED TIME – Pre-race swab sampled. Shifted out near the 200 metres when BETTORS HOPE shifted out slightly ahead of it, resulting in THANKS BE TO GOD being inconvenienced.
THANKS BE TO GOD – At the first attempt to start the race a false start was declared when Driver T Day raised his hand. Following the race, T Day explained that the rein rings shifted all the way up to the rein buckles placing him at a disadvantage. Given the circumstances no action was taken. Inconvenienced near the 200 metres when BORROWED TIME shifted out. Driver T Day was fined $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.
NOSAER – Tightened for room approaching the 400 metres when JUST ROLLYOUROWN NZ shifted out slightly and contacted that runner’s sulky wheel. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 2 – SWSBANK PACE – 1720 metres
GABBYS SPORTSTAR – Examined by the club veterinarian pre and post-race as it has had over 200 race starts and cleared of any significant abnormalities. Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. Driver N Hurst was issued a reprimand under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that near the 100 metres when attempting to gain clear running he has jostled with RIP JACKSON and inconvenienced that runner.
LIMBO LENNY – Held up for clear running until near the 100 metres.
GLENBURNS WATERS – Pre-race swab sampled.
MICTON MOUSE – Raced roughly rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Post-race swab sampled.
ONE STUNIN MELODY – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight
HES A TERROR - Examined by the club veterinarian pre and post-race as it has had over 200 race starts and cleared of any significant abnormalities.
RIP JACKSON – Jostled with GABBYS SPORTSTAR near the 100 metres when that runner shifted out and was inconvenienced.
DANCE BABY DANCE – Over raced during the middle stages of the event. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 3 – TRIMECH WARATAH HEAT – 1720 metres
BUTTER CUP – Post-race swab sampled.
ROCKET ME – Pre-race swab sampled.
HARJAYBRO – Out of position at the start. Driver J Painting was fined $50 under Rule 162(1)(j) for failing to maintain his position with the gelding until the start.
RACE 4 – YOUNG SERVICES CLUB PACE – 2100 metres
THE TALK – Pre-race swab sampled.
SINISTER – Over raced during the middle stages of the event.
ALWAYS LIGHTNING – Driver B Medlyn was queried regarding the below expectations performance of the gelding. He was at a loss to explain it and added that he was disappointed with its run.
MY ULTIMATE LUCIUS – Raced roughly leaving the 400 metres rounding the home turn and gave ground over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
LETTYS REASON – Tired over the concluding stages of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be 1/5 lame in the off foreleg. Stewards, acting on veterinary advice, advised connections the gelding would be stood down from racing for a period of 7 days, they would be required to provide a veterinary certificate of clearance for the gelding, and it would be required to perform a requalifying trial prior to resuming racing.
NO ALIBI – Post-race swab sampled.
FREASON – Gave ground over the concluding stages.
SECRET LINE – Raced roughly rounding the turn near the 600 metres.
RACE 5 – SOUTH WEST TRACTORS HRNSW GUARANTEED LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
SPORTS LOOK – Gave ground over the concluding stages after leading. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer/Driver R Strong was questioned regarding the performance. He stated he thought if the mare could lead tonight’s field it would be very competitive but was disappointed with its effort despite having to work a bit harder than he would have liked in the early stages to maintain the lead.
SWEET SWEET TOOTH – Broke under pressure upon entering the home straight for which a warning was issued.
VIOLET JAY – Pre-race swab sampled. Checked near the 400 metres from behind the tiring SPORTS LOOK.
LESSISMORE – Broke gait after the start for which a warning was issued.
FULL OF SPICE – At the first attempt to start the race, bucked during the score up and fell resulting in a false start being declared. Was declared a late scratching at 7.44pm on veterinary advice. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a laceration to its offside shoulder to which it received treatment, a small cut to its near side knee and above its left eye. Stewards acting upon veterinary advice advised connections the mare would be stood down from racing for a period of 14 days. Connections were further advised the mare would be placed outside the draw for future mobile start races and it would be required to perform a requalifying trial prior to resuming racing.
RACE 6 – HILLTOPS EQUINE CENTRE 3YO COLTS AND GELDINGS MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres
CRANKINOVER – Hung out and broke gait rounding the first turn. Given the gelding’s recent record, connections were advised it would be required to perform a requalifying trial.
DUNNA HAMMY – Checked from behind the tiring BETS ON HEAVEN and as a result locked wheels with YA RACIN DASH near the 400 metres.
KEPT FOR A REASON – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.
TRIPLE THREAT – Checked near the 400 metres when DUNNA HAMMY and YA RACIN DASH locked wheels.
BETS ON HEAVEN – Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten a considerable margin. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Driver J Turnbull reported the gelding hit its knee rounding the turns on the smaller track tonight. Connections were advised it would be required to perform a requalifying trial.
YA RACIN DASH – Locked wheels with DUNNA HAMMY near the 400 metres and was checked.
RACE 7 – YOUNG CELLARS PACE – 1720 metres
HILLVIEW SAM – Hung out during the score up for which a warning was issued.
SPREAD THE FEAR – Held up for clear running until the 100 metres.
BETTERTHANTHEBOYZ - Examined by the club veterinarian pre and post-race as it has had over 200 race starts and cleared of any significant abnormalities. Pre-race swab sampled.
RAGING ON NZ – Broke gait during the score up for which a warning was issued.
GEOFFREY BEE – Post-race swab sampled.
RACE 8 – THE TAB APP 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN PACE – 1720 metres
BELLE ALCHERA – Broke gait free of interference rounding the turn approaching the 1400 metres. Given the filly’s recent record, connections were advised it would be required to perform a requalifying trial.
AWICKED WOMAN – Checked near the 1400 metres when BELLE ALCHERA broke gait. Post-race swab sampled.
SUMMER PUNCH – Pre-race swab sampled.
FREDDY FAT BEAR – Tired over the concluding stages and was beaten a considerable margin. Connections were advised the filly would be required to perform a requalifying trial.
BLINGFORTHEGIRLS – Checked near the 1400 metres when BELLE ALCHERA broke gait.
MADDIE – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight. Placed back in the draw for future mobile start races.
RACE 9 – QUAYLE MILLING PACE – 1720 metres
LITTLE SASSY BOY – Pre-race swab sampled. Post-race swab sampled.
FEISTY TIGER – Held up for clear running for the majority of the home straight.
RACE 10 – RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS PACE – 1720 metres
TINNYSMEDAD – Checked leaving the 200 metres when HARVEYS TOOTH broke gait.
LA AMERICAIN – Pre-race swab sampled. Tired over the concluding stages. Checked and broke gait in the early part of the home straight from behind the galloping HARVEYS TOOTH.
SHADY TREE – Driver B Micallef was fined the sum of $200 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight.
MY ULTIMATE BRUNO – Post-race swab sampled.
HARVEYS TOOTH – Broke gait under pressure near the 200 metres for which a warning was issued.
SERGEANT PEE JAY – Entering the first turn was tightened for room when racing to the inside of MAMMALS JEWEL and was checked and raced roughly. Broke gait free of interference near the 1000 metres and again approaching the 600 metres. Connections were advised the gelding would be required to perform a requalifying trial.
THE HEATS ON LEXY – Driver N Turnbull was fined $400 under Rule 156(2)(a) for using his whip with an action that was more than a wrist only flicking motion in the home straight. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account this was his second whip rule breach within 60 days of the first breach.
MAMMALS JEWEL – Tightened for room entering the first turn when racing to the inside of JAY CEE MAXWELL and had to be checked. Inconvenienced leaving the 200 metres when HARVEYS TOOTH broke gait.
JAY CEE MAXWELL – Shifted in entering the first turn resulting in MAMMALS JEWEL and SERGEANT PEE JAY being tightened for room. At a subsequent inquiry, Driver R Lemon pleaded guilty to a charge under Rule 163(1)(a)(iii) for causing interference in that entering the first turn he allowed the gelding to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MAMMALS JEWEL which was tightened for room, checked and as a result tightened the room of SERGEANT PEE JAY which was checked and raced roughly. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account R Lemon’s guilty plea, his very good driving record with regards to this rule and the particular circumstances of the incident. Driver R Lemon had his licence to drive in races suspended for a period of 7 days.
