SUPPLEMENTARY

Maitland Trials – 3 June 2026 – Trial 3

Driver G Panella was fined the sum of $200 under rule 156(2)(a) in that when applying the whip to PEPPI GRATZ shortly after the start was affected employed an action which engaged the shoulder in addition to a free hand away from the rein. 

 

RACE 1 – MATES4HARNESS PACE – 2030 metres

GRUMPYSHANNON – Pre-race sample was taken.

JILLIBY AMIGO – Driver B Hughes was reprimanded under rule 168(1)(a) in that shortly after entering the home straight for the run to the finish attempted a run to the inside of FOX TROT which hung out slightly however did not provide full racing room and as the field continued to race down the straight driver B Hughes again placed pressure to his drive when in the opinion of the Stewards there was insufficient room to progress through and as a result was tightened for racing room, checked and broke stride.  As a result of galloping broke the head check.

SWEET ROCKY – Tightened for racing room rounding the final turn and contacted marker pegs. 

YESNOMAYBESO – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

THE CID – Post-race sample was taken.

KING HIT NZ – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

OHWHATIWOULDGIVE – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

 

RACE 2 – GOLBAL BRANDS LIQUOR PACE – 1609 metres

KAIRAKI DELIGHT NZ – Had a tendency to over race in the early and middle stages of the event whilst leading. 

WHATABOYJACK – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the run to the finish.

MCCRIKEY NZ – Pre-race sample was taken.

LAST TIME JOE – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 3 – COCA COLA PACE – 2030 metres

THE METAL FLYER – Fractious in the early stages of the score up.  A warning was issued.

ROCKTAGONAL – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported. 

VAN BASTEN – Pre-race sample was taken.

SAINT CRUSADER – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 4 – GARRARDS HORSE AND HOUND PACE – 1609 metres

ULTIMATE DIVA – Pre-race sample was taken.

CAPTAIN BART – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 5 – TOOHEYS PACE – 1609 metres

ADDOCAR – Post-race sample was taken.

BRING YOUR BEST – Broke stride as the field negotiated the final turn.  A warning was issued.

NIGHT TO REMEMBER – Had a tendency to hang in as the field entered the first turn. 

LOCKITINEDDY – Pre-race sample was taken.

NIFTY STUDLEIGH – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Checked as the field negotiated the final turn.

 

RACE 6 – PSC INSURANCE BROKERS PACE – 1609 metres

HEAVENLY WAGE – Held up for clear running in the latter stages of the run to the finish.

KARAOKE KING – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

RICK REILLY NZ – Had a tendency to hang in as the field entered the first turn. 

DEECEE ROCKIN – Post-race sample was taken.

HE SAID SHE SAID – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.  Held up for clear running over the concluding stages and not fully tested.

LITTLE DEMON – Pre-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 7 – SKY RACING ACTIVE 3YO PACE – 1609 metres

MAXYS AROCKA – Had a tendency to hang in shortly after the start was affected.  Gave ground and weakened over the concluding stages to be beaten a considerable distance.  A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.  Connections were advised it would be placed on its last chance in the mobile barrier draw in addition to the completion of one requalifying trial.

NOTHING FINER – Raced roughly during the middle stages of the score up.  A warning was issued.

SAN SEBASTIAN – Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 8 – PFD FOOD SERVICE PACE – 1609 metres

JACQUELINE ROSE NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

LACHIES IDEAL – Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to hang in after the start and when negotiating the first turn broke stride.  Connections were advised that given its recent record it would be stood down until the completion of two requalifying trials and a stand down from racing for a period of 14 days.  A post-race veterinary examination could not reveal any abnormalities.

ROCKNROLL TONY – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

MADAZALWAYS – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

GABBYS SPORTSTAR – Examined pre and post-race by the veterinarian with no abnormalities reported.

 

RACE 9 – BONVILLA ESTATE WINES LADYSHIP PACE – 1609 metres

A LITTLE DILEMMA – Had a tendency to hang in at various stages of the event.

SAINT KARAMARA – Pre-race sample was taken.  Post-race sample was taken.

 

RACE 10 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres

WOOPAA – Pre-race sample was taken.  Had a tendency to race roughly shortly after the start was affected.  When rounding the final turn had a tendency to hang in and race roughly.

GIRLSGOTCURLS – was examined pre-race by the veterinarian and passed fit to take its place in the event.

PHAR LUME NZ – Post-race sample was taken.

 

GENERAL – Stewards opened an inquiry into an incident in the race day stalls during the evening.  This inquiry was adjourned to review evidence to 22 June 2026 at 11am.  The following people will be required to attend for questioning, Trainer – C Bourke, Trainer – D Elder and Driver B Elder.
