RACE 1 – DIFFERENTIAL & MECHANICAL SERVICES PACE – 1770 metres

ITZ BAD – Driver G Lee was questioned in regards to the gelding’s overall performance where he failed to run on over the final 300 metres to finish in ninth position beaten 27.6 metres.  He stated the gelding never travelled comfortably at any stage throughout the event and when making a three wide move from the 700 metres the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to show clinical signs of a poor post-race recovery.

CHOCOLATE DELIGHT – Leaving the 200 metres when racing under pressure hung in and raced roughly for a short distance.

MITTYS THREE ACES NZ – Post-race sample.

IDEAL TAO – Pre-race blood.

RACE 2 – GLEN MIA (ACT) PTY LTD 3YO PACE – 1770 metres

A CLASS APART – Approaching the 1400 metres when trailing the leader had a tendency to over race, hung out losing its position behind the leader then having to race outside the leader for the remainder of the event until tiring over the final 400 metres to finish in ninth position beaten 66.8 metres.  A warning was placed on the gelding’s racing manners.

ELLEONWHEELS – Pre-race blood. When negotiating the first turn hung out and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

ALITTLEBITOFSUGA – Tired over the final 400 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 56.2 metres.  A warning was placed on the filly’s record.

GOODLOOKINGDEAL – Post-race sample.

BETTOR CRUNCH – Had a tendency to hang out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.  A warning was issued.

 RACE 3 – WATTY’S RURAL & DOMESTIC FENCING PACE – 2170 metres

GENERAL – The all clear was delayed ascertaining if MICTON MOUSE had been afforded a fair start when trailing ACE OF REASON who was slow to begin.  After taking evidence from driver H Ross and viewing the available footage.  Stewards acknowledged that MICTON MOUSE had been inconvenienced in the score up but believed there was no material affect where the gelding settled in the race and as such all clear was declared on the judge’s numbers of 4, 8, 6 and 5.

ACE OF REASON – A pre and post-race veterinary examination was conducted as the gelding has not started since 17th February 2025. No abnormalities were detected on either examination.  Out of position and slow to begin when unable to maintain its position behind the mobile barrier when it accelerated prior to the start. The gelding will be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts. Approaching the 900 metres tended to over race when the pace on the marker line eased and as a result contacted the sulky wheel of SHES MAGICAL. When leaving the 200 metres hung out at a similar time MICTON MOUSE was racing to his outside hung in, ACE OF REASON was tightened and raced rough for a short distance.

SHES MAGICAL – Broke stride in the middle stages of the score up on the first attempt causing a false start.  A warning was issued.

NIFTY AMBITION – Over raced throughout the event.

FEISTY TIGER – Post-race sample.

UNCLE CRAIGO – Out of position at the start.  No action was taken due to the speed of the mobile.

MICTON MOUSE – Pre-race blood. Inconvenienced in the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start. Leaving the 200 metres tended to hang in tightening the running of ACE OF REASON.

TROUBLE IN HEAVEN – Out of position at the start.  The mare will continue to be placed outside the mobile barrier draw in future starts.  Leaving the 1000 metres when over racing became unbalanced and broke stride.  A warning was issued.

THE TALK – Post-race sample.

 RACE 5 – TAB.COM.AU PACE – 1770 metres

MIKIBEQUICK – Over raced when leading the event.

NOSAER – Pre-race blood.  Driver J Turnbull was queried on the overall performance of the gelding which tired over the final 200 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 12.3 metres.  He stated with the early burn to attempt to obtain the lead and having to race outside the leader when over racing was detrimental to the gelding’s overall performance.  Following an inquiry driver J Turnbull pleaded guilty to a charge under rule 162(1)(r) in that when unable to release the hopple shorteners in the early stages due to the gelding over racing, he could then give no reasonable explanation for the approved gear not to be activated from the 600 metres on and as a result the hopple shorteners were not released throughout the event.  Considering Mr Turnbull’s guilty plea and his record in relation to this rule his licence to drive in races was suspended for a period of seven days. This suspension will commence at midnight on Wednesday, 10 June 2026.

MULLUM GUIDO – Pre-race blood.

SYENITE – Raced roughly shortly after the start.  A warning was issued. Approaching the 300 metres hung in, raced roughly and as a result locked wheels with SUMMER PUNCH who was severely checked.

PYEKAKARIKI – Driver C Hart was questioned on the gelding’s overall performance which failed to run on over the final 300 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 23.2 metres.  He stated with the fast early quarter and the gelding failing to settle when racing outside the leader proved detrimental to its overall performance.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SUMMER PUNCH – Tired from the 500 metres until being severely checked when locking wheels with SYENITE at the 300 metres. Driver S Hewitt could give no reasonable explanation for the gelding’s performance.  Trainer E Galea stated he would look to assess the filly in the coming days and would be the intentions to take bloods.  If anything arises from these tests he was advised to inform Stewards.

RACE 7 – MGA INSURANCE GROUP PACE – 1770 metres

FLY OVER STATES – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
