TRAINER Tim Butt continues to grow his empire in New South Wales with a recent significant purchase added to his team on the weekend.

Clients of the multiple Group-winning-conditioner purchased the unbeaten two-year-old Whereyabinboppin (pictured) following his Alabar Breeders Challenge Regional Consolation win at Bathurst on Sunday for a six-figure sum.

“Troy Saddler (part-owner) rang me a while ago and asked if I’d take the horse for the Breeders Challenge,” said Butt.

“The horse had a bit of a cold so that didn’t eventuate but I kept my eye on him.

“I inquired if they would be interested in selling him and they syndicated a fair portion of the horse to clients of mine.

“I’ll officially take over the training of him on Wednesday.”

Formerly trained by Junee horseman Steve Harris, Whereyabinboppin made it three wins in a row on Sunday where he rated the mile in a personal best 1:56.0.

Prior to that, the son of A Rocknroll Dance won two starts at Wagga.

“His times around Wagga were pretty good and he beat Lochinvar Art, who is a pretty nice horse, first up,” said Butt.

“I also really like the way he gets over the ground . . . he has untapped potential and looks like a solid race horse.”

Whereyabinboppin’s first task for the Butt stable will be in a heat of the Breeders Crown in Victoria.

“I’m heading down to Victoria on Wednesday with my trotter Majestic Courtney and I’ll pick him up then,” said Butt on Monday.

“Majestic Courtney will race in the Victoria Derby on Sunday and Whereyabinboppin will race in the final Victorian heat of the Breeders Crown a few days later.

“It’s nice that the previous owners have still retained a share in Whereyabinboppin and most of the guys that own Let It Ride have gone into him as well so hopefully we have a bit of fun.”

Majestic Courtney is the first emergency for the Victoria Trotters Derby at Maryborough this Sunday while Whereyabinboppin will have his first start for Butt at Kilmore on Wednesday.
