NSW Breeders Challenge Yearlings For Sale in Melbourne

The APG Sales take place in Melbourne this Sunday, with a number of high quality yearlings up for auction. There will also be a presence of NSW Breeders Challenge eligible yearlings from a number of different vendors.

Of the seven lots eligible, two of those are from Crookwell-based Benstud Standardbreds who have Lot 112 (Captaintreacherous – Eye Catching) and Lot 179 (American Ideal – Modern Girl) whose broodmare sire is NSW stallion Modern Art. You can take a look at these two yearlings below.

Jake Stockton will also have two Breeders Challenge eligible lots on Sunday with Lot 94 (Courage Under Fire NZ – Crown Defender NZ) who is a half-brother to Cruz Bromac, winner of the 2019 New Zealand Cup and 2018 Len Smith Mile. Stockton’s other yearling is Lot 119 (Captaintreacherous – Giveusachance NZ).

 

Young-based Success Stud have also prepared a colt for the Melbourne sale, Lot 184 (Bettors Delight USA – Machthreewishes) for Ray Cahill. Machthreewishes dam Bridge Player brought us San Carlo, a prolific Group race winner who has won over $500,000 in prizemoney. He is featured in the photo for this article. Lot 164 (Shadow Play – Malena) has been prepared by Dean and Blanche Poole and is sure to capture some attention. This colt is a half-brother to Muscle Factory – the first 3YO to go under 1:50 in Australia and winner of the 2019 Victorian Derby. Lot 164 is one of 24 lots prepared by the Poole’s for this sale.

Finally, Alabar Farms have Lot 79 (Somebeachsomewhere USA – Artistic Pleasure) in Sunday’s sale. Alabar are one of the biggest breeders in Australia and currently sponsor the NSW Breeders Challenge series. The 2nd Dam of this filly, Kept For Pleasure, is the mother of Vincent who now stands at Alabar as a stallion.
