Team Teal 2021 ambassadors

29 January 2021

HARNESS Racing New South Wales is once again rallying its support behind the WomenCan Team Teal campaign for 2021.

Commencing on February 1 through to March 14, reinswomen across the state will wear teal pants when competing in official races to raise awareness and much-needed funds for ovarian cancer research.
With this, HRNSW is also pleased to announce the ambassadors for this year’s campaign.
Amanda Turnbull and Ellen Bartley are training and driving ambassadors.
KerryAnn Morris is a training ambassador while Ashley Hart and Jemma Coney are driving ambassadors.
With Morris unable to drive due to pregnancy, her husband Robbie Morris will wear the ambassador colours to increase the HRNSW sponsorship value.
Each time a female trained and/or driven horse wins in NSW, HRNSW will donate $200 and an additional $100 for every ambassador trained and/or driven winner to the WomenCan Funding Cancer Research.
Ambassadors have extra earning power for example if Amanda Turnbull or Ellen Bartley are to train and drive a winner, $600 from HRNSW will be donated.
Another example is if Ashley Hart or Jemma Coney (non-trainers) drive a winner, $300 from HRNSW will be donated as will the case be if Robbie Morris is driving in the teal colours a horse trained by KerryAnn.
Adding to this, Tabcorp will also be donating $200 for every winning female driver.
And HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny is encouraging the entire industry to get behind the fund raising.
“This research is very important and if Clubs, owners, trainers, sponsors and any other members of the harness racing fraternity can afford to sponsor a female driver for the next six weeks please do so,” he said.
“We aim to raise a record $50,000 this year in NSW and already Club Menangle will provide $200 to WomenCan Funding Cancer Research for every winner at Tabcorp Park Menangle if the teal pants are first across the line.”
This marks the sixth year HRNSW and its participants have been involved in this campaign.
