Race 3, FRANKO BLUE

SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Newcastle – 25^th June 2018 – Race 3

Stewards continued an inquiry with respect to M Callaghan’s tactics aboard FRANKO BLUE in race three at Newcastle 25^th June 2018 where after settling in a position one wide with a trail M Callaghan elected to move FRANKO BLUE to the position without cover prior to the field entering the home straight for the bell lap in a race over 2550 metres.  M Callaghan reiterated his initial comments on race day in that he was of the view and assessed that LITTLE BUDDY which he was trailing was not likely to take him into the race which was supported by the gelding’s finishing position.  When questioned with respect to the tempo of the race at the time FRANKO BLUE was eased wider M Callaghan stated that T Forrest (LITTLE BUDDY) did move forward when FRANKO BLUE was racing in the position three wide.  M Callaghan further explained that with the benefit of hind sight he may have reassessed his tactics however was firm in his view that FRANKO BLUE was moved to a position of advantage.  M Callaghan’s comments were noted.
