ALICE ON THE BEACH – Caught racing wide in the early stages of the event before being restrained to the tail of the field passing the 1300 metres.
BEACHRIDE – Driver Jack Chapple was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for forcing another runner wider, in that passing the 1300 metres he shifted away from the marker pegs when not sufficiently clear of REASON TO PARTY causing that runner to race in a three wide position momentarily. Post-race swab sample.
REASON TO PARTY – Raced roughly after the start. Inconvenienced passing the 1300 metres when BEACHRIDE shifted wider on the track.
SUNNYWITHACHANCE – Checked during the latter stages of the score up and was out of position at the start when JOHNNYS BLUE hung out and raced roughly. Stewards withheld the declaration of All Clear to determine whether SUNNYWITHACHANCE had been afforded a fair start and after taking submissions from Trainer/Driver Maurice Johnson, Stewards were satisfied that interference suffered by the mare had no effect on the settling position of SUNNYWITHACHANCE and as a result it was deemed a runner in the event and the All Clear was given on the judges numbers 7-2-4-9.
RACE 3 – DONGES IGA PACE – 2100 metres
MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE – Improved three wide from the 2000 metres until obtaining the lead passing the 1400 metres. Stewards queried Driver Jackson Painting with regards to the colt commencing to hang out under pressure from the 500 metres. Mr Painting advised Stewards that the colt commenced to hang out severely once it commenced to tire from the 500 metres and the more he looked to restrain or steer the colt down the track the worse it hung up the track. Mr Painting further advised the colt was having its first run on the smaller track and may have resented having the murphy blind placed on its inside and he would look to make some gear adjustments before the colt returned to the races. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Painting, MY ULTIMATE KEVVIE was stood down until the completion of one requalifying trial.
MENDOZA LASS – Post-race swab sample.

PETES ART FOLLY NZ – Stewards questioned Driver Jackson Painting with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired over the concluding stages of the event to finish in 9th placing beaten 59 metres. Mr Painting advised Stewards the performance of the gelding was disappointing however he felt it was racing up in grade compared to when it finished 2nd at Wagga at its most previous start. Mr Painting further advised that in his opinion the gelding didn’t appreciate the smaller Young track and is a gelding that races best when able to obtain the lead of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.
BRACKEN WARRIOR – Stewards questioned Driver Blake Jones with regards to the performance of the gelding which tired over the concluding stages of the event to finish in 10th placing beaten 62 metres. Mr Jones advised Stewards the gelding was disappointing but in his opinion did not handle the tight Young circuit when hanging in around the bends. Mr Jones further advised Stewards that he would be advising Trainer Corey Parker that the gelding should be kept racing on the bigger circuits. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.
IM HARVEY SPECTER NZ – Broke stride during the early stage of the score up and as a result was out of position at the start. After considering the recent record of the gelding, a warning was issued.

RACE 6 – QUAYLE MILLING PACE – 1720 metres
EN PARANT SUR – Stewards questioned Driver Jack Chapple with regards to the tactics he adopted in the early stages of the event whereby he elected to hold the lead until a point passing the 1200 metres when he surrendered to BOLZANO NZ. Mr Chapple advised Stewards that he was provided instructions by Trainer Ben Settree to hold the lead if he could and he felt once the gelding began reasonably well he was able to drive the runner forward into the first turn and hold his position, however soon after Ms Turnbull on BOLZANO NZ commenced to challenge for the lead despite him making it clear that he was intent on holding his position. Mr Chapple further advised that Ms Turnbull further challenged his runner to a point passing the 1200 metres whereby he determined that the tempo of the event had been fast and elected to surrender to BOLZANO NZ. After considering the explanation provided by Mr Chapple Stewards believed he had erred in his decision to maintain his position in the lead despite recognising the fast early tempo and should have surrendered to BOLZANO NZ soon after entry to the back straight, a runner of which he acknowledged had superior form and as a result he was cautioned under Rule 149(2). A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
MASTER GOUDA – Over raced during the middle stages of the event.

MIGHTY ATOM – Driver Harrison Ross was reprimanded under Rule 163(1)(b)(i) for forcing another runner wider in that passing the 800 metres when DRIVE TO THE BEACH had commenced a three wide move and improved to the outside of MIGHTY ATOM, Mr Ross elected to shift his runner wider on the track forward of DRIVE TO THE BEACH and as a result DRIVE TO THE BEACH was momentarily placed in a four wide position. In not taking the matter any further, Stewards acknowledged the evidence of Driver Jett Turnbull that he was looking to obtain cover from a runner when improving in the three wide position and was therefore happy to restrain his runner to the helmet of MIGHTY ATOM to obtain some cover in the run home.
DRIVE TO THE BEACH – Inconvenienced and momentarily placed four wide passing the 800 metres when MIGHTY ATOM shifted away from the running line.
