RACE 1 – WESTERN PLAINS GRANITE PACE – 1720 metres
TIGERNATOR – Post-race sample.
IM BELIEBER – Galloped out as the start was affected. A warning was issued.
HALL MOST AN ANGEL – Pre-race blood.
LOYOLA SPIAGGIA – Driver D Davis was cautioned on his whip use in the home straight on the final occasion.
SINISTER – Checked after the start when trailing IM BELIEBER.
STUDLEIGH SUNRISE – Held up for clear racing room in the run to the finish and not fully tested.
RACE 2 – RADIO 2DU LADYSHIP PACE – 1720 metres
DEAR DARLING – Post-race sample.
FEISTY TIGER – Pre-race blood. Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
VIOLET JAY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the offside fore. Due to being treated by the on-course veterinarian with pain relief, the mare will be stood down for a period of 14 days and must also submit a veterinary clearance prior to racing.
SURFIN AT MIDNIGHT – Gave ground over the final 300 metres to finish in eighth position beaten 17.3 metres.
RACE 3 – FARDELL’S HEAVY HAULAGE & CRANE HIRE PACE – 1720 metres
RAGING ON NZ – Post-race sample.
CHILLAX – Pre-race blood.
ZOLTON – Held up for clear racing room until passing the 100 metres.
PYEKAKARIKI – Over raced throughout the event.
RACE 4 – CRAMPTON’S CARPETS PACE – 2120 metres
KARLOO TOP DRAW NZ – Inconvenienced between the 650 and 550 metres when trailing CAPITALISM who was yielding ground.
CAPITALISM – Pre-race blood. Tired considerably from the 700 metres to finish in tenth and last position beaten 124.7 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding who had sustained a arterial fibrillation for the first time. The gelding will be stood down for a period of 14 days must also submit a veterinary clearance including and ECG and requalify on one occasion prior to racing.
DEEPWATER CAM – Post-race sample.
ALTA BILLY – Hung out in the score up before breaking stride being out of position at the start. A warning was issued.
WARRAWEE CRUZIN – Inconvenienced between the 650 and 550 metres because of CAPITALISM yielding ground.
JESSEJAMES SHANNON – Held up for clear racing room until the final 100 metres.
RACE 5 – BLUES MEATS PACE – 1720 metres
SWEET SWEET TOOTH – Held up for clear racing room until leaving the 100 metres.
GIFTED BRIGADE NZ – Post-race sample.
OLIVER SHARK – Pre-race blood. Leaving the 200 metres when hanging in under pressure contacted marker pegs.
BURRABADINE STORM – Hung out in the middle stages of the score up locking wheels with MOVES LIKE MIKI and as a result the start was aborted. As the shift was minimal from both runners no further action was taken. Placed under pressure at the 800 metres before yielding ground from the 600 metres to finish in ninth and last position beaten a considerable distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. The mare will be required to requalify on one occasion prior to racing.
MOVES LIKE MIKI – Hung in in the middle stages of the score up locking wheels with BURRABADINE STORM. As a result, the start was aborted. As the shift was minimal from both runners no further action was taken.
RACE 6 – CLUB DUBBO PACE – 1720 metres
PEAKSART – Driver Jason Turnbull was questioned the tactics adopted in the early and middle stages of the event when driving his horse with aggression from the start and was able to work forward to the lead passing the 1400 metres, he was then challenged by CLARENDEN VINTAGE until the challenged ceased at the 1100 metres. He stated the gelding is one paced and from a good barrier draw elected drive his runner aggressively to the lead as he races best in that position. When challenged by CLARENDEN VINTAGE ,he believed that runner had done excessive amount of work to find the position outside the lead and thought it would be detrimental to his chances by handing up the lead.
JUST HOME GROWN NZ – Pre-race blood. Broke stride in the score up. A warning was issued.
MILLYANO – Driver J Turnbull was questioned on the mare’s overall performance where it failed to run on over the concluding stages to finish in eighth position beaten 26 metres. He stated after the early speed where he was unable to obtain the lead he elected to restrain at the 1400 metres and was able to obtain cover to ease out of the early speed. He further added when placed under pressure over the final 300 metres the mare failed to respond. MILLYANO has been a recent addition to the stable and may have been a false favourite in the event. Leaving the 200 metres hung in under pressure and contacted marker pegs. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
CLARENDEN VINTAGE – An inquiry was opened into the driving tactics of Miss C Formosa when working four wide in the early and middle stages was able to obtain a position outside the lead at the 1200 metres where she continued to apply pressure to PEAKSART by racing in advance of that runner who was leading the event until the 800 metres, when placed under pressure over the final 400 metres the gelding failed to respond to finish in ninth placing beaten 27.5 metres. Trainer N Townsend was questioned on the tactics provided to Ms Formosa as to being satisfactory considering the geldings recent form when driven aggressively from the start. The inquiry was adjourned until the 10th July to allow further examination of the evidence provided and the betting to be reviewed. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
CELEBRITY CRUISE – Broke stride in the early stages of the score and was out of position at the start. Due to the ground lost while galloping the mare tailed the field for the entire race. A warning was issued.
IRK MCGLURK – Post-race sample.
RACE 7 – FURLIFE VET PACE – 1720 metres
NEEDS A COZIE – Pre-race blood. Driver M Turnbull was approved to replace M Rue . M Rue was fined the sum of $100 for failing to fulfill his engagement on the filly. Post-race sample.
TURN OUT THE LIGHT – Leaving the 500 metres broke stride. Considering the mare has had a change of stable and her recent record TURN OUT THE LIGHT will be stood down for a period of 14 days and must also requalify on two occasions.
ELCHEAPO CLAIRE – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight on the final occasion.
LUCKY IN AMERICA – At the request of connections the mare will be placed back in the mobile barrier draw in future starts.
RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1720 metres
SIR BLUE STORK – Over raced throughout the event whilst leading.
WOBBLY BOOT – Pre-race blood. Post-race sample.
LONG NECK POM – Despite the efforts of its driver was out of position at the start. The gelding was given its last chance in the mobile barrier draw.
CLEARY – Approaching the 500 metres was checked when locking wheels with PEPPERMINT who shifted out marginally.
PEPPERMINT – Had a tendency to hang out throughout the event. Leaving the 500 metres was checked when locking wheels with CLEARY. As the shift was minimal from both runners no further action was taken.
