RACE 1 – NEWCASTLE HERALD PACE – 1609 metres
MICKEY BE NIMBLE – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted Driver G Panella explained that it had been her pre-race intention to lead, however she was unable to cross FOR THREE REASONS in the early stages and whilst caught wide, PEPPERCORN BARRY improved to the position outside the lead. She said that after this, to avoid being trapped wide she drove forward for an extended period and eventually obtained the lead. She added that after this her drive travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure approaching the 400m responded strongly despite hanging out. She said that thereafter the gelding was difficult to drive and continued to shift wider under pressure. Connections were advised that a warning for hanging out would be placed on the geldings racing record.

YOU CANNOT HIDE – When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted and overall performance Trainer/Driver G Panella explained that she had intended to obtain a forward position in the early stages however from her wide barrier draw the gelding was unable unbale to muster sufficient speed and was trapped extremely wide in the early stages. She said this was the reason that she elected to restrain to the rear of the field and after doing so her drive travelled comfortably. She said that from her rearward position she was reluctant to attempt to improve around the field and elected to improve inside GUNFIGHTERS GHOST inside the 300, she stated that after this the gelding responded relatively well and if its recovery was satisfactory the current preparation would be continued. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no physical abnormalities however it was noted the off fore plate had been cast during the race.
GIRLSGOTCURLS – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.
RACE 7 – HUNTER SIGNS PACE – 1609 metres
GLENN FORD NZ – Passed required pre- and post-race veterinary examination.

PHAR LUME NZ – Pre-race blood sample. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted and overall performance Driver K Langelaar explained that due to the wide barrier draw and the significant speed in the early stages, she elected to restrain to obtain cover. She said that after settling at the rear of the running line, the tempo eased considerably and continued to be slow during the middle stages, which was unsuitable and despite her drive responding strongly when shifted wider to improve inside the 300m resulted in PHAR LUME NZ being unable to make meaningful ground on the placegetters. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
RACE 8 – THE TAB APP PACE – 1609 metres
ULTIMATE TROUBLE – Had to be checked and broke stride near the 200 metres after sustaining contact from IRE OF THE DRAGON when both runners shifted ground marginally.
